Madeleine Stowe to Star in “It” Prequel Series “Welcome to Derry”

Madeleine Stowe is extending a welcome

The 64-year-old half-Costa Rican actress will star in the Max Original series Welcome to Derry (working title).

Madeleine StoweThe former Revenge star will appear opposite Stephen Rider, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs in the series, which is a prequel to New Line’s hit Stephen King film franchise, It.

Stowe will have a recurring guest role while Rider is a series regular. Their parts are being kept under wraps in the series which expands on King’s It universe, particularly that laid out in Andy Muschietti’s It movies. He’ll direct several episodes in the series including the first.

Stowe also joins previously announced cast members Taylour PaigeJovan AdepoChris Chalk and James Remar.

Stowe’s long-running career includes such movies as The Two Jakes, Stakeout, The Last of the Mohicans, 12 Monkeys, Blink, Unlawful Entry, The General’s Daughter and We Were Soliders.

For 89 episodes, she played the wicked Victoria Grayson on ABC’s hit TV series Revenge, and stars on the Netflix series Soundtrack.

HBO Max Releases Trailer for Post-Apocalyptic Series “Station Eleven,” Starring Daniel Zovatto

HBO Max has released the trailer for its new series Station Eleven, starring the 30-year-old Costa Rican American actor.

A pandemic has ravaged the world in Patrick Somerville’s new series, an adaptation of the 2014 book of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel.

Station Eleven is a post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, this limited drama series tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost.

In addition to Zovatto, the series stars Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel, David Wilmot, Matilda Lawler, Philippine Velge, Nabhaan Rizwan and Lori Petty, with Gael Garcìa Bernal and Danielle Deadwyler recurring.

The 10-episode limited series will premieres on HBO Max on December 16.

Zovatto’s previous credits include Revenge, Fear the Walking Dead and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Vico Ortiz to Star in HBO Max’s Upcoming Pirate Series “Our Flag Means Death”

Vico Ortiz is about to batten down the hatches

The non-binary Puerto Rican actor, drag king, activist and performer extraordinaire will star in HBO Max’s upcoming period comedy Our Flag Means Death.

Ortiz joins a cast of newcomers that includes Kristian Nairn, Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear and Con O’Neill.

The series hails from Taika Waititi, David Jenkins, Garrett Basch and Dan Halsted.

Ortiz is set to portray Bonifacia.

The series, which stars Rhys Darby and Waititi, based loosely on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet, a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate in the early 18th century.

Bonnet was a moderately wealthy land owner who later turned to a life of crime as a pirate. He bought a sailing vessel, named it Revenge and traveled with his paid crew along the Eastern Seaboard of what is now the United States, capturing other vessels and burning other Barbadian ships.

Darby plays Bonnet, while Waititi, who is also directing the pilot episode and will executive-produce, will play Blackbeard, history’s most feared and revered pirate.

Ortiz’s previous credits include Indebted, Vida and Everything’s Gonna Be Okay.

Gina Torres to Star in ABC’s Supernatural Drama Pilot “The Brides”

The 50-year-old Cuban American actress will lead the cast of The Brides, ABC’s supernatural drama pilot from Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina developer/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-SacasaBerlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

With strong horror elements, The Brides is a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their nontraditional family.

Torres plays Cleo Phillips. One of the three Brides of Draculaand the leader of this vampire trio, Cleo is an imperious woman with a queenly manner —understandably, as she was a queen in her former life who was turned by Dracula after the death of her husband. Now a maven of New York City real estate, Cleo is challenged professionally by a mysterious newcomer — even as her ties to her sisters are dangerously fraying.

While the focus will be on the women, the character of Dracula is featured in the show.

Torres recently played Jessica Pearson, first on USA Network’s popular original series Suits and then in the network’s Chicago-set spinoff series Pearson, which Torres headlined and executive produced. The role has earned Torres an ALMA Award, an Imagen Awardand the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Award for Outstanding Performance in a Television Series.

At ABC, Torres co-starred on the Shondalanddrama series The Catch, recurred on Revenge and toplined the 2016 pilot The Death of Eva Sofia ValdezAngel and Firefly alumna Torres also did an arc on HBO’s Westwood.

The Latino actor has joined the cast of What/IfNetflix’s social thriller anthology drama series starring Renée Zellweger, Jane Levy and Blake Jenner.

He previously had starring roles in New York theatre productions of A Parallelogram at 2nd Stage and the Public’s Oedipus El Rey as Oedipus. He was honored this season with the Drama Desk’s Sam Norkin Award given for off-Broadway excellence.

The 10-episode first season focuses on two struggling newlyweds, scientist-entrepreneur Lisa (Levy) and EMT Sean (Jenner), who accept a powerful woman’s (Zellweger) ethically perilous proposition to secure a badly needed financial windfall. All actors have one-year deals.

Jenner first gained acclaim on the second season of The Glee Projectwhich he won, landing him the role of Ryder Lynn onGlee. He also recurred on SupergirlJenner most recently starred in the indie heist film American Animals. America Ferrera Developing Comedy “American Alien” for NBC

NBC has put in development the comedy American Alien, from the 33-year-old Honduran American actress/producer and Superstore star, Superstore co-executive producer Sierra Teller OrnelasTeri Weinberg and Universal Television.

Written by Teller Ornelas, American Alien centers around Denise “Dee Dee” and Sonny Mendoza, a small-town brother-and-sister team who struggle to keep their working-class jobs while also protecting vulnerable space aliens from everyday pitfalls in their hometown of Tucson, Arizona.

Teller Ornelas will executive produce with Ferrera and Weinberg. Universal Television, where Ferrera and Weinberg’s new production banner is based, is the studio.

Teller Ornelas is a Navajo-Mexican writer who began her television career in the Disney Fellowship Program. She is currently a co-executive producer on NBC’s Superstore, in which Ferrera stars and also executive produces. Teller Ornelas previously served as a producer on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and ABC’s Happy Endings. This is her first network sale.

This is Ferrera and Weinberg’s second sale under their new, yet-to-be-named  production banner, which just signed a first-look deal with Universal Television. The duo has also have an untitled legal drama with former Revenge showrunner Sunil Nayar set at NBC.

Ortiz to Star in ABC’s Comedy Pilot “Charlie Foxtrot”

The 46-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress has been cast as the female lead in ABC’s comedy pilot Charlie Foxtrot.

Hailing from writer Sam Sklaver, Kapital Entertainment and ABC Studios, the project is set at Fort Bragg, an Army base in North Carolina.

It centers on Angelina Torres (Ortiz) and her two children, who live on the base. But, when Angelina loses her fiancé, Joe Taylor, killed in action in Iraq, it looks as though she’ll have to move. But Joe’s brother, Charlie Taylor (Jason Biggs), a dentist at the base, and usually a pushover, isn’t about to let that happen.

Torres’ Angelina is a well-meaning, fierce single mother-lion who believes in putting her kids first, even if that means crossing a few lines.

The casting of Ortiz, who starred in Devious Maids and Ugly Betty, stems from a talent deal ABC and ABC Studios signed with Ortiz immediately after Ortiz’s previous series, ABC Studios’ dramedy Devious Maids, ended its four-season run on Lifetime last summer. She decided on Charlie Foxtrot after being presented with several scripts.

This is Ortiz’s third consecutive pilot for ABC and ABC Studios, following the hourlong Ugly Betty and Devious Maids, both of which went to series, with the latter moving from ABC to Lifetime. Ortiz earned an ALMA Award and Imagen Award for her performance as Hilda on Ugly Betty.

Her television credits include appearances on How to Get Away with Murder, Revenge and Black-ish.
