AMC Acquires Rights to All Four Seasons of Roberto Urbina’s Post-Apocalyptic Drama Series “Snowpiercer”

Roberto Urbina’s most recent season of Snowpiercer will air after all.

AMC has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series starring the 40-year-old Colombian actor after it was previously axed at its original network home, TNT.

Roberto UrbinaIt had previously been announced that Season 4 would be the show’s last before TNT parent company Warner Bros. Discovery decided not to air Season 4 altogether in a cost-cutting move.

Producer Tomorrow Studios then shopped the show to other outlets.

The first three seasons of Snowpiercer will be available to stream on AMC+ later this year, while Season 4 will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.

Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 film of the same name, which was itself based on a graphic novel by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. The show was first put into development in 2015, ordered to pilot in 2016, and ordered to series in 2018.

In addition to Urbina, who portrays Javier De La Torre, the series also stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly,  Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Chelsea Harris, Mike O’Malley and Sheila Vand.

Previously announced new cast members for Season 4 include Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov.

Zbyszewski executive produces Snowpiercer along with Christoph Schrewe, Adelstein, Clements and Bachner through Tomorrow Studios, Matthew O’Connor, Ben Rosenblatt and Scott Derrickson, and the original film’s producers, including Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi. The show is produced by Tomorrow Studios along with CJ Entertainment. ITV Studios distributes “Snowpiercer” internationally and brokered this acquisition.

Roberto Urbina Starring in Indie Thriller “Deadland”

The 38-year-old Colombian actor will star in Deadland, an independent thriller from director Lance Larson, which has wrapped production in Oklahoma and Texas.

Urbina stars opposite McCaul LombardiJulieth Restrepo, Kendal Rae, Luis Chávez, Julio César Cedillo, Manuel Uriza and Chris Mulkey in the film.

The film centers on border agent Angel Waters (Urbina), who is called to investigate a man who walks the harsh plains of the South Texas desert, finding that what should be a routine apprehension quickly turns into his worst nightmare.

In an unexpected turn of events, the migrant is accidentally killed, with Waters and his fellow officers quickly burying the body in the desert. They swear to an oath of silence—but the migrant refuses to stay silent.

Larson and Jas Shelton wrote the script, with David Elliot providing creative supervision.

Urbina’s credits include Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, Narcos and Snowpiercer.

Luis Chávez starred in Our Brand in Crisis, In Time and Crash; Julio César Cedillo’s credits include Cowboys & Aliens (2011), Sicario and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.

Uriza starred in Better Call Saul.

Urbina to Star in Netflix’s Drama Series “Narcos”

The 30-year-old Colombian actor has joined the cast of Netflix’s drama series Narcos as a series regular.

Directed by Jose Padilhathe series centers on notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar and Javier Pena, a Mexican DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. mission to capture and ultimately kill him.

Narcos is basically the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict.

Urbina will play Fabio Ochoa, one of a trio of Colombian brothers, all playboy drug dealers, who works in the cocaine business with his brothers.

Narcos, which was written by Chris Brancato, also stars Manolo Cardona, Wagner Moura and Pedro Pascal.

Urbina’s previous television credits include appearances on The Mentalist and Grey’s Anatomy.
