CBS Gives Stephanie Sigman’s Drama Series “S.W.A.T.” a Full Season Order

Stephanie Sigman is going full time

CBS has ordered two episodes each the new drama series S.W.A.T., starring the Mexican-American actress.

Stephanie Sigman

Hailing from Sony Pictures Television Studios and co-produced by CBS Television Studios, S.W.A.T. originally received an order for seven more episodes two weeks ago, bringing its total to 20 episodes. That was two short of a traditional full season (22 episodes) but was considered full season as S.W.A.T. launched more than a month after the start of the season.

S.W.A.T.‘s total is now going up to 22 episodes.

In its most recent airing last night, the drama toplined by Shemar Moore drew 6.63 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 (Live+Same Day). The viewership was up +14% from last week when CBS’ primetime lineup was boosted by a big NFL lead-in, logging the crime drama’s largest L+SD audience since the series premiere. In the 18-49 demo, S.W.A.T was off by a tenth from its football-assisted Thanksgiving delivery but up a tenth from the Thursday before that.

Sigman, who previously appeared on The Bridge, Narcos and American Crime, stars at Jessica Cortez on the series.

Esco to Star in CBS’ Drama Pilot “S.W.A.T.”

Lina Esco is reporting for duty…

The Latina actress has landed a series-regular role opposite Shemar Moore and Stephanie Sigman on CBS’ drama pilot S.W.A.T.

Lina Esco

Written by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and directed by Justin Lin and inspired by the 2003 film of the sane name, S.W.A.T. is described as an intense, action-packed procedural following a locally born-and-bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Moore), who is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly trained unit that is the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles.

Esco will play Chris. Fueled by nerves, she is a skilled officer and exceedingly calm under pressure. She isn’t pleased with her leader’s sudden departure and a shift in power but doesn’t spend too much time focused on the negatives; the mission is the only thing that matters.

Esco plays Ava on Audience Network’s Kingdom and recently recurred on Flaked.

Rodriguez to Star in New Regency’s Heist Thriller “Widows”

Michelle Rodriguez is turning to a life of crime…

The 38-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican-American actress has joined the cast of New Regency’s heist thriller Widows from British helmer Steve McQueen.

Michelle Rodriguez

Rodriguez will join Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis, as well as Cynthia Erivo.

Gone Girl scribe Gillian Flynn co-wrote the script with McQueen, based on the 1983 British miniseries penned by Lynda LaPlante (Prime Suspect).

The story begins when four armed robbers are killed during a failed heist and their surviving widows join forces and resolve to pull off the next raid themselves.

Widows marks McQueen’s first feature since winning the Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years a Slave in 2014.

Rodriguez, who made a name for herself with roles in Universal Pictures’ hit Fast and Furious franchise, has starred in Avatar, Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Retribution. Her other credits include Girlfight, S.W.A.T. and Battle: Los Angeles.

Sigman to Star in CBS’ “S.W.A.T.” Pilot, Based on the 2011 Crime Drama

Stephanie Sigman is about to get tactical…

The Mexican-American actress, who rose to acclaim in the 2011 crime drama film Miss Bala, will star in CBS’ S.W.A.T. reboot.

Stephanie Sigman

Sigman is the first cast member to sign onto the reboot, which is based on the movie of the same name.

The pilot follows a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant who is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that’s the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles. Sources say CBS is nearing a deal with an actor for the lead lieutenant role.

Sigman will play Jessica, who’s described as ambitious and fastidious, and has earned her high rank at S.W.A.T. headquarters.

The “S.W.A.T.” pilot was written by Aaron Thomas and will be directed by Justin Lin.

Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios are behind the hourlong drama.

The series is based on the 2003 film, which starred Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, LL Cool J, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jeremy Renner. That movie was based on the 1970s series, produced by Aaron Spelling, which ran for two seasons on ABC.

“S.W.A.T.” is the latest project for Sigman, who’s been in high demand ever since her scene-stealing role in the 2015 Daniel Craig movie Spectre. She also starred in the first season of Netflix’s Narcos, and appeared in a few episodes of ABC’s anthology series American Crime from John Ridley. This is the second consecutive pilot season that Sigman has been cast in a lead role, following Ridley’s ABC detective drama, Presence, which ultimately was not greenlit to series.

Up next for the actress is the sequel to the hit horror movie Annabelle 2.

French invasion! Olivier Martinez is planning to bring a taste of France to South Florida.

The 46-year-old half-Spanish actor is opening a restaurant on South Beach early next month.

Olivier Martinez

“I love the interesting and international people I have met in Miami,” the Unfaithful and S.W.A.T. actor tells People magazine. “So when my friend Michael Martin said he found a space for a restaurant and lounge where we could bring in the best aspects from the South of France, I was excited and wanted to get involved.”

Martinez, currently dating Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, and Martin are partnering with restaurateur Jean-Phillippe Bernard to open Villa Azur, featuring the seasonal ingredients and international flavors of Saint-Tropez, where Martinez and Martin have spent many a night enjoying fine food and wine.

“Olivier and I love Miami and want to bring the glamour and allure of the South of France to this melting pot of a town,” Martin says.

The French and Italian-inspired menu will include entrees like penne pasta with vodka and caviar cream sauce and a veal filet mignon stuffed with artichokes, tomatoes and cheese.

Villa Azur’s lounge and bar area features a library with numerous art and design books, as well as couches for guests to sip champagne and enjoy plates of oysters with caviar and Martinez’s special olive bread, which he enjoys in France.

The restaurant, designed by Francois Frossard, will be outfitted in antique woods and chandeliers with a mix of contemporary and old pine furniture.

“Olivier knows that we are doing something special together where people can get a touch of Saint-Tropez glamour in South Beach,” says Martin.
