Starz to Premiere Third & Final Season of Monica Raymund’s “Hightown” in January

Starz has announced that season three of its drama series Hightown, starring the 37-year-old half-Dominican American actress, will be its last.

The series is set in the beautiful but bleak world of Cape Cod and follows Jackie Quiñonez’s journey to sobriety is overshadowed by a murder investigation dragging her into its fold.

Set to premiere on January 26, the third and final season follows Massachusetts State Trooper Jackie Quiñones (Raymund) who has fallen off the wagon and her job due to it. Jackie doesn’t let any of that stop her from trying to help save many of the most often ignored and forgotten victims in Cape Cod, sex workers.

In Season 2, Quiñones finally becomes a real cop with the hope of doing some good in this world. Thrust immediately into the crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding the Cape, she was laser-focused on bringing down drug dealer Frankie Cuevas (Amaury Nolasco), the man she holds responsible for the death of her best friend, Junior (Shane Harper). With disgraced officer Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale) off the force and mired in depression, Jackie finds a new partner in Leslie (Tonya Glanz), the only other female on the force. Through it all, Jackie must walk the tightrope of sobriety as she struggles to stay above an ocean of secrets, betrayal and the shame and failure of her past.

In addition to Raymund, Dale and Nolasco, the returning cast includes Riley Voelkel, Atkins Estimond and Dohn Norwood. Imani Lewis, Mark Boone Junior and Mike Pniewski return in recurring roles while Ana Nogueira, Taja V. Simpson, Michael Drayer, Garret Dillahunt and Jeanine Serralles all guest star.

Camila Perez to Appear on FX’s Limited Series “Teacher”

The Colombian actress is set to appear on FX’s limited series Teacher.

Kate Mara and Nick Robinson will star in the 10-episode series, which is based on Hannah Fidell’s buzzy 2013 Sundance Film Festival feature, starring and executive produced by Mara.

A Teacherexplores the story behind the mugshot of a female high school teacher (Mara) caught in an affair with her male student (Robinson), revealing the complexities and consequences of these illegal relationships. 

Perez will appear in a recurring role, alongside Rya KihlstedtCameron Moulène and Ciara Bravo. Series regulars include Ashley Zukerman, Marielle ScottShane Harper and Adam David Thompson

Fidell, who wrote, directed and produced the film, will pen the adaptation, direct and executive produce the limited series.

Perezportrays Alison, Eric’s socially conscious and well-meaning ex-girlfriend. Bravoportrays Mary.

Perez recently recurred on Starand Gotham.

Bravo played Emma on Red Band Society.She was most recently seen on YouTube’s Wayne, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dand NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Santos’ “Happyland” Gets Series Order at MTV

The network has added Happyland, which stars the Cuban and Brazilian American actress and Zulay Henao, to its original programming roster.

The theme park comedy Happyland has been picked up to series, receiving an order for eight episodes.

From Daddy’s Girls Ben Epstein, Happyland is hailed as a soapy teen comedy that explores the underbelly of one of the country’s most popular theme parks and the people who work there.

The project centers on Lucy, a cynical teen whose mother makes a living as a fairy tale princess, and explores the realities of growing up and falling in love while living in a make-believe world.

Along with Santos, who portrays Lucy, and her onscreen princess mother Henao, the series also stars Shane Harper, Katherine McNamara, Cameron Moulene, Brandy Smith and Ryan Rottman.

The comedy joins Awkward on the schedule as the network continues its push into original scripted programming.

The series order comes as little surprise… MTV programming president Susanne Daniels told The Hollywood Reporter this summer after the comedy was ordered to pilot that she was looking to add one or two more comedies to the network’s lineup.

Santos is best known for her role as Lexi on ABC Family’s family drama series The Fosters.

The Latina actress has been cast as the lead in MTV’s comedy pilot Happyland, alongside Colombian American actress Zulay Henao, Shane Harper, Katherine McNamara and Cameron Moulene.

Happyland is a hailed as a soapy teen comedy exploring the underbelly of one of the country’s most popular theme parks and the people who work there.

Santos is best known for portraying Lexi Rivera – Cierra Ramirez’s best friend and Jake T. Austin’s love interest –on ABC Family’s Jennifer Lopez-executive-produced drama series The Fosters, which has been renewed for a second season.

Happyland, which was written by Ben Epstein, will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger.

Santos will portray Lucy, a cynical teen working as a greeter at the park where her single mother (portrayed by Henao) has played a fairytale princess for 15 years, and explores the realities of growing up and falling in love while living in a make-believe world.

Henao, who will continue on OWN’s Love Thy Neighbor as a recurring, will appear opposite William Levy in the upcoming feature film Single Mom’s Club.
