Apple Original Films & Skydance Animation Release Teaser Trailer of Eva Noblezada’s Animated Film “Luck”

Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation have dropped the first teaser trailer for Luck, featuring the voice of the 26-year-old half-Mexican American Tony Award-nominated actress and singer.

Luck will debut on Apple TV+ globally on Friday, August 5.

The film, directed by Peggy Holmes, centers around the story of Sam Greenfield (Noblezada), the unluckiest person in the world. When she discovers the never-before-seen Land of Luck, Sam must unite with the magical creatures there to turn her luck around.

The Land of Luck is revealed in the trailer, via a nice tour of the place conducted by Bob (Simon Pegg), a lucky black cat. Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O’Donoghue, John Ratzenberger and Adelynn Spoon also star alongside Jane Fonda and Whoopi Goldberg.

Kiel Murray penned the original screenplay. John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and David Eisenmann are producing for Skydance Animation.

Exclusive first-look footage of Luck will be shared at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s Work in Progress sessions in June.

Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation’s Luck, starring the 25-year-old half-Mexican American actress and singer, will debut on AppleTV+ across the world on Friday, August 5.

They’ll star alongside Jane Fonda and Whoopi Goldberg.

Broadway star Noblezada (HadestownMiss Saigon) will provide the voice for the character of Sam. When she ages out of foster care, Sam discovers the Land of Luck and embarks on a quest that could change her luck forever.

Helena Bonham-Carter Joins Voice Cast of Netflix’s “Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”

The 52-year-old part Spanish actress has joined the all-star voice cast of Netflix’s forthcoming Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is based on Henson’s 1982 feature The Dark CrystalThe series tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie and realized using classic puppetry with cutting-edge visual effects. We find that the world of Thra is dying. At the heart of Thra is the Crystal of Truth, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelflings uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.

Also joining the voice cast are Caitriona Balfe, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Shazad LatifGugu Mbatha-Raw and Mark Strong.

The Skeksis & Mystics will be voiced by Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs,Keegan-Michael Keyand Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. Aughra will be voiced by Donna Kimball.

Additional characters will also be voiced by puppeteers from the production.

Saldaña Sheds Tears in the Teaser Trailer for “Star Trek Into Darkness”

Zoë Saldaña is getting all emotional in the new Star Trek film…

In the just released teaser trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness – the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel to the blockbuster 2009 series reboot – the 34-year-old half-Puerto Rican & half-Dominican American actress sheds a few tears in one of her scenes in the trailer.

Saldaña, reprising her role as Uhura, is spotted with her hands in her face, being held tightly by a distraught Scotty (Simon Pegg). In another, she’s seen looking up at something in the sky.

Getting more attention in the trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch, as The Darkness. The BAFTA and Emmy-nominated Sherlock star looms large and destructive in the teaser. Even though his role is still unclear, Cumberbatch is definitely not a nice guy. And, he’s a major turncoat, taking on Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the Enterprise.

From the first look, his destruction is mighty, and it more than shatters what he calls their illusion of safety. Get ready for an extra teaser on December 17, for a few more morsels ahead of the first trailer.

Star Trek 2: del Toro Out, Ramirez In?

Edgar Ramirez received critical acclaim for his playing the infamous terrorist and murderer Carlos the Jackal in the TV miniseries Carlos… And, now he could be playing an out of this world baddie.

With Benicio del Toro no longer interested in starring as the villain in the sequel to the Star Trek reboot  and production set to begin soon, J.J. Abrams is working ‘round the clock to cast the important role. And, he’s reportedly set his sights on Ramirez.

The 34-year-old Venezuelan actor is reportedly in talks to play the villain in Star Trek 2. Although Abrams hasn’t confirmed the role, several sources report the villain character in the film will be Khan. Mexican actor Ricardo Montalban played Khan in the classic Star Trek: Wrath of Khan.

Ramirez reportedly tested for the role via Skype this week.

But he isn’t the only Latino that Abrams is considering.

Jordi Mollà Star Trek

Jordi Mollà is reportedly in the running as well. The 43-year-old Spanish actor has starred in Colombiana, Knight and Day and Bad Boys 2.

Production on the new Star Trek movie is expected to begin on January 15, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin expected to return to the cast.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on May 17, 2013.
