Humberly Gonzalez to Star Opposite Michelle Yeoh in Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Section 31”

Humberly Gonzalez is ready for a special trek

The Venezuelan actress has been cast in Paramount+’s upcoming original Star Trek: Section 31, which stars Michelle Yeoh.

Humberly GonzaleGonzalez, who has appeared on Ginny & Georgia, is among a roster of new cast additions that includes Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rahl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky and James Hiroyuki Liao.

Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she first played in Star Trek: Discovery‘s first season, who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

“And we’re off to the races! Thrilled to report principal photography has started on Star Trek: Section 31,” said executive producer Alex Kurtzman. “We welcome our incredible cast of new characters as they join our beloved Michelle Yeoh on her next wild adventure across the ‘Trek’ universe.”

Paramount+ has released a preview of the upcoming fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 49-year-old Puerto Rican actor.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere in April 2024 on the streamer.

In the new footage, Capt. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala) contend with a massive, hostile alien creature that has the ability to cloak itself.

Per the official logline, Season 5 “will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.”

In addition to Martin-Green, Ajala and Cruz, who portrays Dr. Hugh Culber, Star Trek: Discovery also stars Doug Jones (Saru), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Blu del Barrio (Adira) and Callum Keith Rennie (Rayner). Season 5 also features recurring guest stars’ Elias Toufexis (L’ak) and Eve Harlow (Moll).

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. The 39-year-old Latinx actor and writer has signed with Innovative Artists .

Melissa NaviaNavia can currently be seen starring in the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The series, a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery and a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, follows Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise as they explore new worlds around the galaxy. Navia stars as ‘Lieutenant Erica Ortegas,’ the charismatic helmsman of the USS Enterprise. Season 2 premiered on June 15 and has already been renewed for a third season.

Additionally, Navia previously recurred on the CBS series Bull and AMC’s Dietland. She also guest starred on NBC’s New Amsterdam and Billions and Homeland for Showtime.

On the big screen, she has appeared in a variety of indie films and shorts.

In 2013, she won the award for Best Actress at the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival for her leading role as ‘Dawn’ in The Paragon Cortex.

Her additional film credits include Sleeping with the FishesBel CantoThe ChosenHymns and What It Was.

In March 2020, she made her Off Broadway debut in the world premiere of Bundle of Sticks from J. Julian Christopher.

Kalinda Vazquez Signs Multi-Year Overall Deal with Netflix

Netflix signed a multi-year overall deal with the Latina creator, writer, and producer.

Kalinda VazquezUnder the terms of the deal, Vazquez will create, write and produce new series and other projects at the streamer.

Vazquez, known for her work on Star Trek: Discovery and Fear The Walking Dead, is already writing and developing her first project Arbor Hall, an original YA concept that blends mystery, thriller, and genre story elements.

It tells the story of a Latinx teen girl who investigates the mysterious disappearance of her best friend on the campus of their exclusive boarding school. Along the way, she discovers an underbelly of her school that is far darker than just money and privilege.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the Netflix family – it is a huge honor and joy to have a creative home at a place where originality is trumpeted and creators’ unique visions are fostered. I am so excited for what is to come,” Vazquez said in a statement.

“Kalinda is a rare talent with a passion for genre storytelling and a trove of ideas and original concepts,” says Alex Sapot, Netflix Director, Overall Deals. “We’re thrilled and privileged to support her vision and bring her distinctive voice, characters, and stories to the forefront.”

She’s currently writing an untitled Star Trek movie for Paramount and Bad Robot, as well as adapting the sci-fi novel Roadmarks as a series for HBO with George R.R. Martin producing.

Paramount+ has released the official trailer for season four of Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 47-year-old Puerto Rican actor.

From total destruction to parts of the U.S.S. Discovery to the loss of beloved crew members, the Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 teaser hints at an enemy that’s larger than anyone aboard the spaceship.

To face the invisible adversary that comes without “any kind of warning at all,” Commander Burnham says it’s imperative that everyone band together to retain hope and escape the unknown.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 will premiere on Paramount+ in 2021 and also features Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, David Ajala, Blu del Barrio and Ian Alexander.

Melissa Navia to Star in Paramount+’s New Original Series “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”

The Colombian-American actor, writer, and stand-up comedian has joined the cast of Paramount+’s upcoming new original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as production officially gets underway in Toronto.

Navia joins a cast of series regulars that includes Babs Olusanmokun, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding and Jess Bush.

The series is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Navia and the gang join previously announced cast members Ethan Peck, Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn, who will be reprising their roles from Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery.

The Strange New Worlds‘ premiere episode is written by Star Trek: Picard EP Akiva Goldsman from a story the Oscar winner wrote with Alex Kurtzman and fellow EP Jenny Lumet. Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners, with Goldsman directing the premiere episode.

The series is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.

Navia’s recent television credits include a recurring role on AMC’s Dietland and guest roles on Showtime’s Billions and Homeland.

Kalinda Vazquez to Write “Star Trek” Film for Paramount Pictures

The Latina television writer and producer has been set by Paramount Pictures to write a Star Trek film.

Vazquez has written on Star Trek: Discovery, and insiders say this is a blind deal for an original movie that she hatched, one that expands her role in the Star Trek Universe.

Vazquez was a co-executive producer on Fear the Walking Dead. She also got her name from the original Star Trek series, after a character from the second-season episode “By Any Other Name.” In the 1968 episode, the character’s name was Kelinda.

Vazquez just made a splash in teaming with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin on an HBO series adaptation of the Roger Zelazny sci-fi novel Roadmarks.

Vazquez’s television credits include Marvel’s Runaways, Once Upon a Time, Nikita, Human Target and Prison Break, and she recently adapted Barrier, based on a Brian K. Vaughan graphic novel, for Legendary Television.

CBS All Access Renews Wilson Cruz’s “Star Trek: Discovery” for Fourth Season

A day after its Season 3 premiere, CBS All Access announced it has renewed Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 46-year-old Puerto Rica actor, for a fourth season.

Production is set to begin on November 2.

In a video clip, stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones and executive producers/co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise share the news as they prepare to head back to work amid strict COVID-19 protocols.

In Season 3, after following Commander Burnham (Martin-Green) into the wormhole in the second-season finale, the 13-episode third season finds the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery landing in an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.

Cruz, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman and David Ajala also star in the Emmy-winning sci-fi drama series.

Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on CBS All Access, which will rebrand as Paramount+ next year.

The reenactments of the Superman radio series will be available all day during the virtual confab and feature an all-star roster of actors toplined by Cruz, who stars on Star Trek: Discovery, Tim Daly and Daniel Dae Kim as the Man of Steel himself.

Using original scripts from the long-running radio serial recently unearthed from the Warner Bros. Studios vault, this rare production will allow fans to experience one of their favorite superheros in a unique way.
