The Kid Mero’s Late-Night Series “Desus & Mero” Returning for Third Season in January

The Kid Mero is headed back to late night next month…

The 37-year-old Dominican-American writer, comedian and television personality and Desus Nice are returning for a third season of Desus & Mero on Sunday, January 31.The Kid Mero

The Showtime late-night series was renewed in September for its third season. It will return to its 11:00 pm ET spot on Sunday and Thursday nights.

The pair have been hosting the show from their own homes since the COVID-19 pandemic began. They’re discussing whether they’ll return to the studio in the new year. They had purchased a studio in New York just before the pandemic.

“If people stay inside and wash their hands and do all of the necessary things for us to be able to do that [we’ll return to the studio]. Our show functions in the studio, out of the studio, on a park bench, on a bus, it doesn’t matter, it’s the two of us that makes the show go. Whatever. For me personally, I’ve got four kids in the crib, so I’d love to go back to the studio. But is it necessary for the show to keep up the quality? I don’t think so,” said Mero.

Produced by Jax MediaDesus & Mero is executive produced by Nice, Mero, Lilly Burns, Tony Hernandez, Victor Lopez, Suzanne Fagel and Mike Pielocik.

The Kid Mero

The special episode will air at 11:05 pm ET on Sunday, December 13. Starting the next day, the episode will be available for free on YouTube, Showtime.com and Sho.com, as well as across Showtime partner platforms.

Desus & Mero recently wrapped its second season and will return for Season 3 in 2021.

The Kid Mero to Join Larry Wilmore for Discussion About 2016 & 2020 US Presidential Elections

The Kid Mero is talkin’ politics… then and now.

The 37-year-old Dominican American television personality, writer and comedian will join Larry Willmore to discuss the U.S. presidential election.

The Kid Mero

Willmore and Kid Mero, whose real name is Joel Martinez, will be joined by Robin Thede, Desus and co-hosts of Pod Save America Jon Lovett and Jon Favreau.

The Peacock late-night comedy, which airs on Friday evenings, will tackle the topic of ‘But Her Emails’, comparing where we are three weeks before this election to where we were three weeks before the 2016 election and drawing lessons.

Thede is the creator, showrunner, executive producer, writer and star of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show. She was also the first African American woman to be the head writer of a late-night show when she worked on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, before becoming a host of The Rundown with Robin Thede.

Desus Nice and Kid Mero are the stars of the eponymous Showtime series, which airs twice a week.

They’ll join Wilmore for his lightning round this week, following the launch of their New York Times best-selling book God-Level Knowledge Darts – Life Lessons From The Bronx.

Lovett and Favreau are co-hosts of political podcast Pod Save America and co-founder of Crooked Media, the media company behind it. They’ve also recently launched Vote Save America, a one-stop-shop for voter engagement, which helps people get educated and activated ahead of the election.

Wilmore is going into his fifth show since launching on the streamer.

The Kid Mero to Guest Star on ABC’s “Black-ish” as Part of Upcoming Election-Themed Episodes

The Kid Mero is getting political…

The 37-year-old Dominican American television personality, writer and comedian, whose real name is Joel Martinez, will be part of Black-ish’s partially animated and election themed special next month.

The Kid Mero

The Kid Mero joins a roster of special guests that includes his Desus & Mero co-host Desus Nice and Stacey Abrams, the former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives.

The special, directed by Oscar winner Matthew A. Cherry, will follow the Johnson family as they navigate the upcoming election.

In the episode, which is the second of two new episodes scheduled to air back-to-back on October 4, Dre (Anthony Anderson) begins to explore local politics and, at one point, seeks some advice from Abrams. Later, he joins Desus Nice and The Kid Mero on their late night talk show Desus & Mero for a sit-down interview with some hard-hitting questions for the aspiring candidate.

Written by Eric Horsted, the live action ‘Election Special Pt. 1’ will see Marcus Scribner’s Junior pumped about finally being able to vote, only to find he has been dropped from the voters list – and discovering the realities of why that occurred. The animated ‘Election Special Pt. 2’ is penned by Graham Towers and Ben Deeb. That 10:30 – 11 PM ET episode early next month sees the Peter Mackenzie portrayed Stevens from Dre’s (Anderson) ad agency make a lunge for a Congressional seat. A lunge that takes Dre and his family down to the underbelly of modern day politics.

The back-to-back episodes will be broadcast on October 4 on ABC. The only caveat in that plan is if the Orlando bubbled NBA Finals are forced to shift their schedule, which would have a significant ripple effect over the entire ABC programming chart.

In its upcoming seventh season, black-ish will tackle current events like the global pandemic and “the movement for social justice and equality,” according to ABC.
