Aida Rodriguez Signs with Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment

Aida Rodriguez has new representation…

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican & Dominican American comedian and actress has signed with Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.

Rodriguez most recently executive produced and starred in the HBO Max comedy special Fighting Words, directed by Emmy-nominated cinematographer Nadia Hallgren and Kristian Mercado.

The project was a hybrid stand-up performance and travel diary, injected with her no-holds-barred commentary on topics of the day while also tackling her deeply personal family history.

She made her television debut in NBC’s No Comic Standing in 2014 where she was among the top 10 finalists for Season 8.10

Rodriguez was a featured comic in Netflix’s Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Readya comedy anthology series from longtime friend Haddish—HBO Max’s Entre Nos: Part 1and Showtime’s Shaquille O’Neal Presents: All-Star Comedy Jamamong other specials.

On the feature side, she was handpicked to appear in the 2016 film The Comedy starring Robert DeNiro by director Taylor Hackford.

HBO Max has put in development a half-hour comedy series based on the life of the 42-year-old Puerto Rican/Dominican American comedian, starring and co-written by Rodriguez.

Co-written by Rodriguez, Chris Caseand Nastaran Dibai, the project examines the struggle of an Afro-Latina comedian (Rodriguez) who is trying to kick start a career while raising two very different teenagers on her own over multiple time zones. It’s an uplifting story of survival and triumph in the face of a darkly funny Miami ghetto upbringing, where she learned skills that allowed her to thrive and survive.

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American comedian appears in the launch date teaser for Tiffany Haddish’s Netflix curated stand-up comedy special, which will premiere in August.

Rodriguez, who rose to acclaim after competing on the eighth season of Last Comic Standing, is one of thesix comedians personally chosen by Haddish for Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready.

In addition to Rodriguez, the lone Latina in the group, the collection of specials also features comics Chaunté WayansApril MacieTracey Ashley,Flame Monroeand Marlo Williams.

Haddish, who hosts and executive-produces each half-hour episode, shares a history with each of the six comedians after working together in the stand-up scene or on television. She believes the industry often excludes women, people of color, and LGBTQ performers and as such wants to put this diverse group of comedians in the spotlight. 

Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready will begin streaming globally on Netflix on August 13.


In addition to her appearance on Last Comic Standing, Rodriguez has worked as a co-host who assists in delivering news and commentary on The Young Turks online platform.
