The 32-year-old part-Mexican American actor and breakout star of Amazon’s hit rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue, has signed with Paradigm for representation.

Taylor Zakhar PerezIn the film from director Matthew Lopez, which adapts the New York Times bestselling novel from Casey McQuiston, Perez plays Alex Claremont-Diaz, son of the American President (Uma Thurman), whose feud with a British prince (Nicholas Galitzine) threatens to drive a wedge in U.S./British relations. Subsequently, the pair are forced into a staged truce that sparks something deeper.

Produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schecter, the film premiered in August 2023 and became the No. 1 movie globally on Prime Video in its premiere weekend, remaining the platform’s most-watched film worldwide for the first three weeks after its release.

Touted by Amazon as spurring “a huge surge in new Prime membership signups,” the film is also now among Prime Video’s top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time.

Previously, Perez caught attention when he joined Netflix’s hugely popular YA film series The Kissing Booth, based on the novels by Beth Reekles, for its second and third installments. Additionally, he was featured in the first season of Max’s critically acclaimed series Minx, opposite Ophelia Lovibond, as well as Buzzfeed Studios’ 1UP, available on Prime Video.

Sarah Shahi Signs with Independent Artist Group & Untitled Entertainment 

Sarah Shahi is under new representation (and management).

The 43-year-old part-Spanish actress has signed with agency Independent Artist Group while inking a deal with Untitled Entertainment for management at the same time.

Sarah ShahiShahi, who most recently starred in the hit Amazon Prime Video film Red, White & Royal Blue, is perhaps best known for leading Stacy Rukeyser’s show Sex/Life. She portrayed Billie Connelly, a Connecticut mother of two suffering a midlife crisis, whose wild child past winds up on a collision course with her very married present.

Inspired by BB Easton’s novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men, the drama wrapped up a two-season run in March.

Shahi’s Red, White & Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s bestseller, debuted as the streamer’s No. 1 movie globally in August and ultimately became one of its three most-watched rom-coms of all time.

Directed by Matthew Lopez, the film examines the complications that ensue when a romance blossoms between the son of the U.S. President (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and a British prince (Nicholas Galitzine). Shahi portrays Zahra Bankston, the deputy chief of staff for POTUS Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman).

Last fall, Shahi last starred opposite Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam, which came in at No. 1 at the domestic box office for three straight weeks. In the superhero flick, which grossed close to $400 million globally, she portrayed Adriana, a university professor and freedom fighter who fights alongside Black Adam to restore freedom to her country.

She also received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Rachel Behnam, a street-smart investigator for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, in Showtime’s City on a Hill.

Her additional credits include series like The RookieChicago FirePerson of Interest and The L Word, along with the films For Your Consideration and Old School.

Prime Video Releases First Look Photos of Taylor Zakhar Perez in “Red, White & Royal Blue”

It’s a Royal time for Taylor Zakhar Perez.

Prime Video has released a series of photos of the streamer’s film adaptation of the best-selling book Red, White & Royal Blue starring the 31-year-old part-Mexican American actor.

Based on the book penned by author Casey McQuiston, Red, White & Royal Blue centers around Alex and Prince Henry who have a lot in common: Stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity … and a total disdain for each other. Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time.

John Leguizamo to Serve as Presenter at 94th Annual Academy Awards Show

The 61-year-old Colombian actor will serve as a presenter for this year’s Academy Awards show.

The Power of the Dog leads the field with 12 nominations coming into this month’s Oscar show, and Dune is next with 10.

ABC will air the 94th annual Academy Awards live from Dolby Theatre in Hollywood at 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET and in 200-plus territories around the world.

Al Madrigal to Star in Disney’s “Stargirl” Sequel

Al Madrigal has a new Star-ring role…

The 49-year-old half-Mexican American actor will star in the Julia Hart-directed Disney feature sequel to Stargirl.

Madrigal, best known for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, joins a roster of cast newcomers that includes Sarayu Blue, Chris Williams and Nija Okoro.

Stargirl 2 follows Grace VanderWaal’s title protagonist as she journeys out of Mica into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility.

The script is based on the original character from Jerry Spinelli’s bestselling book. VanderWaal will write and perform new original music for the sequel.

Hart co-wrote with her husband Jordan Horowitz.

The four new actors join a cast that includes Uma Thurman (Roxanne Martell, a musician who Stargirl idolizes), Judy Greer (Stargirl’s mom), Judd Hirsch (Stargirl’s neighbor Mr. Mitchell), Elijah Richardson (Stargirl’s beau Evan) and Tyrel Jackson Williams (Terrell, Evan’s older brother).

Madrigal will play Iggy, the MC at a local music club. Blue will play Alex, an up-and-coming film producer.

Sivan Alyra Rose to Star in Netflix’s Supernatural Drama Series “Chambers”

The half-Puerto Rican actress will star in Netflix’s upcoming hourlong supernatural drama series Chambers.

Created and written by Leah RachelChambers centers on Sasha Yazzie, a young heart attack survivor (Rose) who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister.

Rose’s Sasha is a 17-year-old whose world is as big as what’s in front of her. But an untimely heart attack and subsequent complications from her donor set her life on a path riddled with sinister twists. What starts out as a mission to understand the mystery surrounding her heart donor’s death becomes a quest to understand her true identity and the darkness growing inside her.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejonwill executive produce the series anddirect the pilot episode.

The series, which also stars Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn, is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2019.

Lovato Lends Her Voice to the Re-Recording of Fall Out Boy’s “Irresistible”

It looks like Fall Out Boy finds Demi Lovato irresistible

The American rock band has re-recorded its American Beauty/American Psycho track “Irresistible” with the 23-year-old part-Mexican American singer/actress.

Fall Out Boy plans to release it is a single this Friday (Oct. 16).

The song first appeared in January 2015, leading off the band’s sixth studio album with Patrick Stump on vocals.

Now with Lovato in tow, the album’s latest single will look to follow on the chart success of “Centuries” and “Uma Thurman.”

“I think Demi Lovato has one of the most powerful voices today,” bassist Pete Wentz wrote on his blog. “So we worked through an afternoon and she just got it. Excited for you guys to hear this new version of the song on Friday.”

Brühl Starring in John Wells’ Culinary Film Project at The Weinstein Company

Something’s cookin’ for Daniel Brühl in Hollywood…

The 36-year-old half-Spanish actor, who earned a SAG Award nomination for his performance in Ron Howard’s Rush, will star in the untitled John Wells-directed culinary project at The Weinstein Company starring Bradley Cooper and Matthew Rhys.

The film centers on Adam Jones, portrayed by Cooper, a two Michelin Star chef in Paris whose ability to create explosions of taste is undermined by his badboy rants and diva behavior that destroy his career. Rhys portrays Reece, who stands in the way of his comeback.

No word yet on Brühl’s character in the film.

The film is shooting in London through September 26.

Harvey Weinstein is trying to come up with the right title after Jon Favreau released Chef, which was the film’s original title.

The film also stars Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, Riccardo Scarmacio, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Omar Sy, Jamie Dornan, Sam Keeley, Sarah Greene and Alicia Vikander.

Leguizamo to Star in Atlas Independent’s Feature “The Man on Carrion Road”

John Leguizamo is about to cause a little trouble on the border…

The 49-year-old Colombian American actor/comedian has joined Lynn Collins and Jim Belushi for Atlas Independent‘s latest feature project The Man on Carrion Road.

The film, directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, will star Patrick Wilson and Ian McShane.

From a screenplay written by Nils Lyew, the story chronicles a botched Mexican cartel deal in the back roads of a border town.

The town’s new sheriff (Wilson) must team up with the retired lawman (McShane) he replaced to investigate the source of the deal in order to stop a mysterious cartel butcher (Leguizamo) and his systematic brutalization of the town’s residents.

Production is scheduled to begin April 14.

Leguizamo most recently performed his one-man show on the HBO special John Leguizamo‘s Ghetto Klown.

He’ll also star alongside Uma Thurman, Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart in the upcoming action-comedy film American Ultra, directed by Nima Nourizadeh.

Cannavale Starring in “Movie 43”

He may be reportedly dating actress Rose Byrne, but Bobby Cannavale still has plans for a little speed dating later this month…

The 42-year-old half Cuban actor, nominated for two SAG Awards this year for his recurring roles on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, will appear in Movie 43,  a series of interconnected short films that follow three kids as they search the depths of the Internet to find the most banned movie in the world.

Cannavale appears as Fake Superman in the segment called “Super Hero Speed Dating,” opposite of Uma Thurman as Fake Lois Lane.

The cast of Movie 43 includes Kristen Bell, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Josh Duhamel, Richard Gere, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet.

The film’s segment directors include Steven Brill, Peter Farrelly, Griffin Dunne and Brett Ratner.

Movie 43 opens January 25.
