Vladimir Caamaño To Star in CBS’ Drama Series “Tommy”

Vladimir “Vlad” Caamaño is joining the force…

The Dominican American comedian and actor has been added to cast of CBS’ upcoming drama Tommy as a series regular.

Tommy, from the Bull team of co-creator Paul Attanasio and producer Amblin Television, stars Edie Falco as Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female Chief of Police for Los Angeles. She uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate the social, political and national-security issues that converge with enforcing the law.

Caamaño plays an ebullient Dominican transplant from Tommy’s home city of New York, who becomes part of her security detail but also her off-the-shelf investigator as she solves crimes in pursuit of the truth.

The series-regular cast also includes Michael ChernusAdelaide ClemensRussell G. JonesThomas SadoskiOlivia Lucy Phillipand Joseph Lyle Taylor.

Caamaño previously wrote, produced and headlined his own semi-autobiographical comedy pilot for NBC, A Bronx Life.

His other credits include television appearances on Superstore, Marvel’s Runaways and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

NBC has given a put pilot commitment to the multi-camera comedy Vlad, starring the young Dominican American stand-up comedian.

From the Undateable duo of creator/executive producer Adam Sztykiel and executive producer Bill Lawrence, the project comes from Warner Bros. Television and Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer.

Written by Sztykiel and Caamaño, Vlad is a hailed as a family comedy inspired by Caamaño’s real-life family dynamic living with his Dominican father and older brother in the Bronx. Caamaño’s family and upbringing are often mentioned in his stand-up routines.

Caamaño will co-executive produce the series.

The project is a possible companion for NBC’s multi-camera family comedy The Carmichael Show, co-created by and starring another young comedian, Jerrod Carmichael.

Caamaño already had been on NBC’s radar as a 2013 finalist in the NBC Standup for Diversity showcase.

Brillon Lands Talent Holding Deal with NBCUniversal

Gina Brillon could be appearing on a television sitcom in the near future…

The Bronx-born Puerto Rican comedienne has landed a one-year talent holding deal with NBCUniversal after sharing top honors with comedian Jon Laster at NBCUniversal’s ninth annual Stand-Up for Diversity comedy showcase.

Held recently at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, the event was the culmination of a four-city search for diverse comics.

Brillon is a regular on the New York comedy scene, performing at Caroline’s Comedy Club, The Laugh Factory, Standup New York, The Comic Strip and Gotham Comedy Club.

Selected finalists also earned the chance to join the touring company of the Stand-Up for Diversity College Tour. The 2012 finalists — in addition to Brillon and Laster — included David Smithyman, Arvin Mitchell, Rob Haze, Dominican American comedian Vladimir Caamano, Kortney Shane Williams, Ryan Sickler, Latina comedienne Reyna Amaya and Mo Amer.
