Lovato Discusses the Impact of “Give Your Heart a Break” During Special Concert

Demi Lovato may be promoting her new album Demi, which was released earlier this month… But that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten her biggest hit ever.

The 20-year-old part-Mexican American singer recently sat down with Walmart Soundcheck to discuss the lasting impact of her 2011 breakout single, “Give Your Heart a Break,” and how it influenced her latest full-length album.

“I think what resonated with pop fans was the lyrics are super catchy, and the beat, and everything,” says Lovato. “It’s good old American pop music, and that’s what I have on this album.”

“Give Your Heart a Break,” which was featured on Lovato’s 2011 album “Unbroken,” is still her best-selling single with 1.9 million downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Meanwhile, Lovato’s recent single, “Heart Attack,” has peaked at No. 10 on the Hot 100 chart, while Demi debuted on last week’s Billboard 200 albums chart with 110,000 copies sold, her best sales week to date.
