María Gabriela de Faría is enhancing her legacy

The 31-year-old Venezuelan actress and singer has landed a breakout part, joining the cast of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

María Gabriela de Faríade Faria, best known for roles in Fox comedies Animal Control and The Moodys, will portray Angela Spica aka The Engineer. Part of the Warner/DC flick’s villain team, Angie’s powers stem from nanotechnology built into her body. Created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, she’s the second DC character to bear the name of The Engineer and was first introduced in The Authority vol.1 #1 in 1999.

The first title in a revamped DC slate, marking Gunn’s first directorial effort as co-head of DC StudiosSuperman: Legacy will follow Superman as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Others in the ensemble, as previously announced, include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho.

In a recent post on Threads, Gunn confirmed that the film will retain its release date of July 11, 2025, even after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have forced many other titles to push.

Gunn directs from his own script, drawing on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. DC Studios co-boss produces.

de Faría is best known on the feature side for a lead role in Lionsgate’s The Exorcism of God, a supernatural horror pic co-written and directed by Alejandro Hidalgo, which was released through Saban Films after world premiering at Fantastic Fest.

Prior to the Joel McHale-led Animal Control, which has been renewed for a second season, the actress was seen opposite Denis Leary and Elizabeth Perkins on dysfunctional family comedy The Moodys.

The rising talent found her first meaty TV role stateside on Deadly Class, Syfy’s show based on the same-name Image Comics series, from executive producers Joe and Anthony Russo.

Paulo Londra Logs First & Second Entries in YouTube’s Billion Views Club

Paulo Londra is doubling up on a special feat…

The 23-year-old Argentine trap star  has logged two entries in YouTube‘s Billion Views Club this week, with the Lenny Tavárez-assisted “Nena Maldición” and “Adán y Eva.”

The tracks’ official music videos, both from 2018, each crossed 1 billion views this week, becoming Londra’s first and second videos to achieve the feat.

On the Billboard Argentina Hot 100, “Adán Y Eva” peaked at No. 1 back in 2018. Meanwhile, “Nena Maldición” spent 14 weeks on the tally, peaking at No. 61 that same year.

News of Londra’s two music videos raking in 1 billion views comes during a busy week for the singer-songwriter. A multimillion-dollar, two-year dispute between Londra and his label, Big Ligas, was settled amicably in a Miami courtroom Wednesday (Nov. 10), just three days into the trial.

In a statement provided to Billboard by Londra and Big Ligas’ attorneys, they said: “The parties’ lawyers have stated that the parties are happy to announce that they have resolved their differences and that they will make a joint press release in the future.”

Warner will continue to administer Londra’s existing works, but no comment was provided as to his future projects.

Lovato Partners with Shazam to Let Fans Dictate Her European Tour Dates

Demi Lovato’s fans may soon be dictating her tour stops in Europe…

The 21-year-old part-Mexican American pop star has joined forces with Shazam for a first-of-its-kind partnership that will put her fans in the driver’s seat of her tour van.

The partnership will yield a European tour schedule for Lovato generated by the tags she receives on the audio identification platform until the end of May.

“This is a fantastic way for Shazam to help Demi Lovato fans across Europe easily cast their vote to have her play in a city near them,” said Peter Szabo, Shazam’s head of music, in a statement.

The deal is similar in intention to Shazam’s recent deal with Warner, which allows the label to plumb the depths of Shazam’s data for insights into its current — or soon-to-be — artists. It’s likely that Warner would use that data in a similar fashion to the Lovato deal, tailoring tour schedules and outreach to specific regions.

“I am thrilled to collaborate with Shazam on such a unique promotion which puts my future in my Lovatics’ hands by allowing them to pick which cities I visit!” says Lovato, who announced the deal in a video posted to Facebook.
