Netflix has released the first trailer for The Fall of the House of Usher, featuring the 45-year-old Mexican actress and producer, ahead of the series’ October 12 premiere.

Paola NuñezFrom creator Mike Flanagan, the 8-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, follows ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher who have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.

In addition to Nunez, The Fall of the House of Usher also stars Bruce Greenwood, Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.

Flanagan and Michael Fimognari will each direct four episodes.

Vanessa Rubio to Star in Netflix’s “Dolly Parton’s Heartstings: JJ Sneed”

Vanessa Rubio will soon be pulling at our heartstrings…

The Colombian actress has been cast in Dolly Parton’s Heartstings: JJ Sneed, an episode of Netflix’s upcoming eight-episode anthology series that showcases the stories, memories and inspirations behind Parton’s most beloved songs.

Colin O’Donoghue, Willa Fitzgerald, David Denman and Mac Davis round out the cast, joining Parton in the series, which launches in 2019. Each episode is a standalone story with a different cast.

In this JJ Sneed episode, written by Jim Strain and directed by Terry McDonough, O’Donoghue plays JJ Sneed, Fitzgerald portrays Maddie, Denman is Deke Fletcher, Davis will play Reverend Riggs and Rubio is Cimmaron.

Set in the 1880s, the episode centers around a feisty young woman trapped in a mundane existence who dreams of more, until a seductive outlaw pulls her into the adventure of a lifetime.

Scored by new and classic Parton music, each stand-alone episode in Dolly Parton’s Heartstringswill begin with an introduction by Parton talking/singing to camera (as herself) about the meaning behind each song. Each episode will feature a different cast, and Parton will star/guest star in some. They’ll vary in tone, from love stories and inspirational tales to family dramas, Westerns, and revenge comedies.

The series is produced by Magnolia Hill Productionsand Sandollar Productionsin association with Warner Bros. Television.

Rubio’s previous credits include Cobra Kai, Master of None and Deception.

Martinez to Star in Fox’s Drama Pilot “Behind Enemy Lines”

Benito Martinez is facing an Enemy

The 45-year-old Mexican American actor will star in Fox’s drama pilot Behind Enemy Lines, loosely based on the 2001 movie, in a recasting.

Written by Nikki Toscano and directed by McG, Behind Enemy Lines is described as a military soap thriller wherein a group of U.S. soldiers find themselves trapped behind enemy lines. It closely follows our soldiers on the ground and the officers and service men and women on a nearby aircraft carrier, along with intelligence officers in D.C. as they attempt to bring our heroes home safely and under the radar.

Martinez will play Mateo Rodriguez, a respected career Navy man and Executive Officer on the aircraft carrier USS Tyson. He replaces Nestor Carbonell, who originally was cast in the role. The decision was made after the Thursday table read, with the character getting slightly reconceived.

The pilot’s cast includes Marg HelgenbergerB.J. Britt, Gabriel Chavarria, Melia Kreiling, Colm Feore, Willa Fitzgerald and Dylan Bruno.

Martinez, an alum of The Shield, is doing a major arc on the current third season of ABC’s American Crime after co-starring in the first installment and guest starring in the second.

He’s finishing production on the Menendez Brothers movie for Lifetime. Martinez, who worked opposite Tom Cruise on the crime thriller American Made and had recurring roles on How to Get Away with Murder and The Blacklist.

Behind Enemy Lines hails from 20th Century Fox Television — whose feature sibling was behind the movie — studio-based Temple Hill and Davis Entertainment.

MTV Releases Trailer for Thorne’s New Series “Scream”

MTV’s television adaptation of the horror movie franchise, Scream, starring the 17-year-old half-Cuban American actress-singer, is set to premiere this summer, and the network has released the first official trailer

Thorne, who portrays Nina Patterson in the Scream series, announced the premiere date and introduced the first look preview Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards.

Scream will follow the aftermath of a cyber-bullying incident that results in a shocking murder. The brutal event brings back memories from of past killing spree that has haunted some, possibly inspires a new killer and brings together a new group of teens.

The television adaptation also stars Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus SerafiniJamie Travis directed the pilot. Wes Craven, who directed the original flicks, serves as an executive producer.

The original 1996 feature was written by Kevin Williamson and featured Neve Campell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard and Drew Barrymore.

The series will premiere on MTV on June 30.
