J Balvin & Willy William’s “Mi Gente” Gets a Major Assist from Beyonce

J Balvin’s hit single just got BEY-gger

The 32-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer’s single with Willy William, “Mi Gente,” has been remixed with none other than Beyoncé.

J Balvin

“I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands,” she announced on Instagram Thursday night (September 28).

Beyoncé revealed her feature on “Mi Gente” with one of her funky instavids, this time with photos of the singer wearing a colorful striped dress with a bright yellow Off White belt, moving to the beat of the track.

J Balvin shared her post on his own Instagram page and dropped a dance-heavy lyric video for the new release on YouTube.

J Balvin & Willy William’s Hit Single “Mi Gente” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

It’s a perfect 10 for J Balvin

The 32-year-old Colombian singer’s collaboration with Willy William’s hit single “Mi Gente” climbs 2-1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart (dated September16) in its 10th week on the list, jumping 14 percent to 16.38 million audience impressions in the week ending September 3, according to Nielsen Music.

The song earns Balvin his seventh No. 1 on the ranking and William his first.

“Mi Gente” bumps Wisin’s “Escapate Conmigo,” featuring Ozuna, from No. 1 to No. 2 in its 22nd week on the chart. It falls with a six percent decrease in audience for the week (to a total of 15.41 million impressions). The song spent one week atop the list.

“Mi Gente” also holds at its No. 2 peak on both the Hot Latin Songs and Latin Digital Song Sales charts for a seventh straight week each (trailing Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, on both charts).

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Top Spotify’s Global Top 30 Songs of the Summer 2017 List

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are officially the stars of the summer…

Spotify has revealed its global most-streamed songs of the summer, and 39-year-old Puerto Rican singer and 40-year-old Puerto Rican rapper’s juggernaut “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, reigns supreme.

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee

The smash hit — which this week capped its record-breaking 16th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 — garnered more than 786 million streams on Spotify this summer, specifically between June 21 and August 27.

In global streams, “Despacito” is followed by DJ Khaled‘s “Wild Thoughts” with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller at No. 2, and French Montana‘s “Unforgettable” at No. 3.

In the U.S., “Despacito” is instead followed by Lil Uzi Vert‘s “XO TOUR Llif3” at No. 2, with “Wild Thoughts” taking No. 3. Later down the line on both lists are Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Charlie Puth, Demi Lovato and others.

Spotify’s head of Latin culture Rocio Guerrero is calling 2017 “the summer of Latin music,” with five Spanish-language songs featured in the global top 30 ranking.

The list includes Willy William and J Balvin‘s “Mi Gente,” Maluma‘s “Felices los 4,” Danny Ocean‘s “Me Rehúso,” and both the original “Despacito” and remix featuring Bieber.

Notably, only seven female artists make the global top 30 list, and only three — Demi Lovato with “Sorry Not Sorry,” Rita Ora with “Your Song” and Maggie Lindemann with “Pretty Girls” — are the main artists, rather than featured guests, on their included tracks.
