Ariana DeBose to Take Part in Virtual Concert to Benefit the Covenant House Charity for Homeless & Trafficked Youth

Ariana DeBose is helping homeless and trafficked youth…

The 29-year-old half-Afro-Puerto Rican actress, singer and dancer, known for her work in musical theatre and on So You Think You Can Dance, will take part in a virtual concert event to benefit the Covenant House charity for homeless and trafficked youth.

DeBose joins a 50-plus roster of stars who’ll perform or appear for the May 18 fundraiser that includes Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Jon Bon Jovi, Rachel Brosnahan, Stephen Colbert, Martin Short, Dolly Parton, Dionne Warwick, Stephanie J. Block, Tony Shalhoub, Charlie Day, Chris O’Dowd, Zachary Leviand Zachary Quinto.

A Night of Covenant House Stars, to be held on Monday, May 18 at 8:00 pm ET on the Broadway on Demand streaming platform, will be co-hosted by six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald and 60 Minutes orrespondent John Dickerson, both members of the Covenant House Board of Directors.

The event is designed to support Covenant House, the international, mostly privately funded charity providing housing, food and healthcare to children and youth facing homelessness, and the front-line staff working during the COVID-19crisis.

“This virus does not get the last word,” said Covenant House President & CEO Kevin Ryan. “This amazing group of stars uniting in love to help us care for kids is proof positive of that.”

Other stars slated to appear include Robin Thicke, Deborah Cox, Quentin Earl Darrington, Darius de Haas, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Eden Espinosa, Jordan Fisher, Stephanie Hsu,Randy Jackson, Capathia Jenkins, Jeremy Jordan, Ramona Keller, Alex Newell, Karen Olivo, Dawn O’Porter, Laura Osnes, Benj Pasek, Jodi Picoult, Shereen Pimentel, Andrew Rannells, Keala Settle, Jake David Smith, Will Swenson, Bobby Conte Thornton, Ana Villafane, Frank Wildhorn, and the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir.

Event proceeds will benefit Covenant House’s work across 31 cities, in six countries.

The May 18 fundraiser will mark the launch of the Broadway on Demand platform (the company had previously announced a May 17 program). Viewers can watch the Covenant House event free of charge.

In addition to Broadway on Demand, A Night of Covenant House Starscan be streamed on iHeartRadio Broadway, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, and Stars in the House.

GLAAD will host the live stream event “Together in Pride: You are Not Alone” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the 29-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress and Pose star among the celebrities taking part.

The event will be available on GLAAD’s YouTube channel and Facebook Liveon April 26 at 8:00 pm ET.

“Together In Pride” will raise funds for LGBTQ community centers impacted by the coronavirus.

In addition to Rodriguez, the event will include appearances by Billy Eichner, Matt Bomer, Adam Lambert, Lilly Singh, Bebe Rexha, Dan Levy, Wilson Cruz, Gigi Gorgeous, Nats Getty, Michelle Visage, Javier Muñoz, Sean Hayes, Sharon Stone,Tatiana Maslany, with more guests being announced soon.

The event will include performances by Kesha and Melissa Etheridge.

“At a time when some LGBTQ people could be isolating in homes that are not affirming, GLAAD is bringing together the biggest LGBTQ stars and allies to send messages of love, support and acceptance,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “So many LGBTQ people, especially our youth, depend on support from local community centers around the country, and during this time of financial distress, we must come together as a community to ensure that all LGBTQ organizations can continue their life-saving work.”

“Together in Pride: You are Not Alone” will also raise critical funds for CenterLink, a coalition of more than 250 LGBTQ community centers from 45 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, as well as Canada, China, Mexico, and Australia.

CenterLink strengthens, supports, and connects LGBTQ community centers, which serve over 2 million people each year. Participating community centers will also share the livestream on their social platforms.

“LGBTQ centers are the heart of the community, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic these centers have continued to provide vital connectivity and services, pivoting to virtual programming, modifying in-person services when possible, and ensuring that their communities have resources and support when they need it the most,” said Denise Spivak, Interim CEO of CenterLink.

In March, GLAAD joined over 100 LGBTQ organizations in an open letter calling on U.S. public health officials and media to address the heightened vulnerability of LGBTQ people to COVID-19. Amongst other factors, the LGBTQ community experiences higher rates of cancer, HIV, and tobacco use — all which factor into higher susceptibility to negative outcomes from COVID-19. Additionally, LGBTQ people continue to experience discrimination and unwelcoming attitudes in medical settings, and as a result, many are reluctant to seek medical care. On Wednesday, Centerlink released a letter signed by over 160 LGBTQ community centers to House and Senate leaders, urging them to include nonprofits who serve the LGBTQ population in future relief packages.

Showtime Releases Series Premiere of Daniel Zovatto’s “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels” Early

Showtime has released the series premiere of its new drama Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, starring the 28-year-old Costa Rican actor, early for free online sampling ahead of its April 26 on-air debut. It’s available now on YouTube and SHO.com.

Zovatto stars alongside Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, Kerry Bishé, Rory Kinnear, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Jessica Garza and Johnathan Nievesin the follow-up to Penny Dreadful from the original series’ creator, writer and executive producer John Logan.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels opens in 1938 Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension. When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Zovatto) and his partner Lewis Michener (Lane) become embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Lin-Manuel Miranda to Take Part in Stephen Sondheim Virtual Birthday Concert

Lin-Manuel Miranda is celebrating a living musical theater legend.

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican composer, lyricist, singer, actor, producer and playwright, widely known for creating and starring in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton, has signed on to appear on Sunday’s Stephen Sondheim virtual birthday concert.

Miranda, who starred in Mary Poppins Returns, joins a roster of new additions that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Linda Lavin, Laura Benanti, Neil Patrick Harrisand Ben Plattfor the all-star benefit for Artists Striving To End Poverty.

Previously announced stars participating in the concert include Annaleigh Ashford, Melissa Errico, Beanie Feldstein, Josh Groban, Judy Kuhn, Randy Rainbow and Lea Solanga.

Special appearances will be made by Victor Garber, Joanna Gleason, Nathan Lane and Steven Spielberg.

They’ll all join the previously announced Meryl Streep, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald, among many others, in the special virtual concert to celebrate Sondheim’s 90th birthday.

Take Me To The World: A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration, hosted by Raúl Esparza, is set for this Sunday, April 26, the 50th anniversary of the opening night of Sondheim’s groundbreaking musical Company.

The concert kicks off at 8:00 pm ET, and will be available for free at Broadway.comand the Broadway.com YouTubechannel.

Other artists performing songs from the Sondheim catalog will include Mandy Patinkin, Christine Baranski, Donna Murphy, Kristin Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kelli O’Hara, Aaron Tveit, Maria Friedman, Iain Armitage, Katrina Lenk, Michael Cerveris, Brandon Uranowitz, Stephen Schwartz, Elizabeth Stanley, Chip Zien, Alexander Gemignani and, from the cast of Pacific Overtures at Classic Stage Company, Ann Harada, Austin Ku, Kelvin Moon Loh and Thom Sesma.

Esparza starred as Bobby in the 2006 Tony Award-winning revival of Companyand in the Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration productions of Sunday in the Park with George and Merrily We Roll Along in 2002, as well as the City Center Encores! production of Anyone Can Whistle and in last year’s Road Show.

“The world is in a hard place,” Esparza said in a statement, “and we are all searching for something great. Well, Stephen Sondheim is greatness personified.”

Mary-Mitchell Campbell will be the music director, with Paul Wontorek serving as director.

The online event will act as a fundraiser for ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty), the organization conceived by Campbell and Juilliard students to transform the lives of youth through art.

Kehlani Releases Heartbreaking Single “Valentine’s Day (Shameful)”

Kehlani has released a new heartbreaking single…

The 24-year-old part-Mexican American singer publicly moves on from an ex while putting him on blast with the “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” recently released on her YouTube channel and SoundCloud.

Without addressing the subject by name, Kehlani subliminally airs out a former partner for repeated cheating and says she was there to help him through his crippling addictions.

“Wish I didn’t check your text when you was drunk asleep/ I’ve seen everything that I ain’t wanna see/ That I needed to see, that I needed to be/ Hope you live happily ever after with the b—h, uh/ Fly to France, wine and crackers, honeymoonin’ with the b—h/ Hope you f–k around and have the son you wanted with the b—h,” she painfully sings.

In a since-deleted tweet, Kehlani announced that she’s indeed single again.

“Feel something and get it off. 3 therapeutic hours. appreciating those who see and hear me, and those around me holding me up. real grateful for expression right now. inward & onward, love always ALL ways,” Kehlani captioned behind the scenes footage of the track organically coming together in the studio.

The song follows her “Konclusions” duet with what appears to be her now-ex YG, released on Valentine’s Day.

Marc Anthony Releasing “OPUS the Recording Session Series” on YouTube

The 51-year-old Puerto Rican singer is offering an inside look at the making of his Grammy-winning 2019 album Opus.

The Latin music powerhouse is set to premiere a YouTubeseries titled “OPUS the Recording Session Series,” where fans will get a chance to witness Anthony’s “most intimate journey as a music creator,” according a press release.

The album was recorded in Miami at Art House Society and Criteria Studios.

Opus, produced by Sergio George, earned the salsa singer his 11th top 10 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albumschart (dated May 25, 2019) debuting at No. 2 logging his highest debut since his 2010 album Íconos.

The Magnus Studios-produced series, which will go live on YouTube on Thursday (February 13) at 7:00 pm ET, will run for 10 weeks. Anthony is a four-time nominee at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards. He’s up for tour of the year, tropical artist of the year, solo and tropical song of the year for “Parecen Viernes.” The Billboard Latin Music Awards will air live from Las Vegas on Telemundo on April 23.

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera to Run Against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera is making a run for the U.S. House of Representatives… and she’s taking on a popular freshman Congresswoman.

The 53-year-old half-Cuban American journalist, business news reporter and CNBCcontributor has launched a campaign for the New York City Congressional seat currently held by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Caruso-Cabrera, an outspoken critic of government excess, will be running as a Democrat in the district, which stretches across the Bronx and Queens, though her political views position her significantly to the right of Ocasio-Cortez.

CNBC says she will go on leave from the network, where she has been a reporter and anchor for 20 years.

“I am the daughter and granddaughter of working-class Italian and Cuban immigrants,” Caruso-Cabrera said in a statement. “I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful career and I want everybody to have the opportunity that I’ve had. That’s why I’m running.”

Known by her initials, AOC, the 30-year-old political newcomer’s victory in 2018 was one of the high-profile wins as Democrats took control of the House of Representatives. Netflix captured the win in the documentary Bringing Down the House. Ocasio-Cortez has since racked up more than 6 million Twitter followers. Along with other progressives new to the U.S.Congress, she has become a frequent target of conservatives’ attacks on Democratic leadership.

In her 2010 book, You Know I’m Right: More Prosperity, Less Government, Caruso-Cabrera emphasizes themes like personal responsibility, fiscal conservatism and limited government.

Prior to joining CNBC, Caruso-Cabrera worked at Univision. She has appeared multiple times as a guest on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. In a 2011 episode’s “Overtime” segment onYouTube, she promoted her book and defended CNBC against charges that it took a political stance similar to that of Fox News’ opinion hosts. She also described President Barack Obama as “extremely liberal” and misguided because he “believes that government can solve so many problems that it can’t,” such as health care.

The 19-year-old Argentinian Latin trap singer, whose real name is Ivo Alfredo Thomas Serue, has signed a deal with Interscope Records worldwide.

Khea has established himself as one of the leaders of the Latin trap movement in Argentina and Latin America. His rise to fame was astronomical after his song “LOCA” exploded in Latin America. To date, the song has accumulated an astonishing 900M+ views across Spotifyand YouTube.

In 2018, Khea performed more than 100 shows in the most iconic venues in Argentina and Latin America to sold out crowds.

In 2019, he was invited to perform on the leading festivals in Latin America like Lollapalooza Argentinaand Chile, Creamfields Chile, Hellow Festival Mexicoand Coca Cola Flow Fest Mexico. He has also been invited as a Special Guest during the tour stops for Daddy Yankee, Anuel AA, and Nicky Jamin Argentina and Paraguay.

Selena Gomez Shares Making Of Clip for “Rare” Music Video

It’s a rarelook into Selena Gomez’s creative world…

The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is giving fans a behind the scenes look at the making of the “ethereal, iridescent universe” created for her “Rare” music video.

Gomez uploaded a clip from the video’s set on YouTubeon Monday.

“I am so glad that it worked out the way that it did,” Gomez, who released her album of the same name on January 10, said of the single’s release. “It’s such an important song, but I’m so glad I released ‘Lose You to Love Me; and ‘Look at Her Now‘ because it was more of a parting. This is the first moment into this era for me, personally and for the music.”

There may be more footage to come beyond the three-minute glimpse behind the “Rare” video shoot: Gomez wrapped the clip by saying, “I guess this is it, guys, for the first one. I’ll see you the next video.

YouTube Orders Live Special from David Blaine

David Blaine is bringing some extra magic to YouTube…

The video-sharing platform has ordered a live special from the 46-year-old part-Puerto Rican illusionist, endurance artist and extreme performer.

The order come as the company moved from SVODto AVODearlier this year with logged-in YouTube customers able to watch original series and specials, while YouTube Premiummembers will have ad-free access.

YouTube didn’t give many details about Blaine’s live special but said that it will be “lighter” and “brighter” than Blaine’s usual dark and mysterious stunts.

Blaine’s last special Beyond Magic aired on ABC in November 2016.
