Anitta the Focus of a New Netflix Docuseries, “Vai Anitta”

The 25-year-old Brazilian singer, songwriter, actress, dancer and businesswoman, who earned two Latin Grammy nominations this year, has a new Netflix docuseries called Vai Anitta.

Produced by Shots Studios, the Netflix original documentary will show the work, strategy, laughter and drama behind Anitta’s success.

Anitta, who gained global acclaim with her J Balvin collaboration “Downtown,” has become one of the most popular Latin artists. Many artists have either dropped a collaboration with her or has one in the works, including MalumaGreeicyNatti Natasha and Zion & Lennox.

But Anitta has been a big deal for nearly decade now, especially in her native Brazil. That’s why Netflix is telling her story with the docuseries.

All episodes of Vai Anitta will premiere on November 16 on Netflix.

Lele Pons to Perform at This Year’s Latin American Music Awards

Lele Pons is ready for one of the biggest performances of her career…

The 22-year-old Venezuelan-American singer, actress and internet personality is set to perform at this year’s Latin American Music Awards, which bring together the best of Latin pop, rock, Regional Mexican, tropical and urban music in one event.

Pons, the host of La Voz… México, released her latest single “Celoso” earlier this year.

J Balvin Earns 16th Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with “No Es Justo”

The 33-year-old Colombian urban singer has scored his 16th top 10 on BillboardHot Latin Songs chart, as “No Es Justo,” with Zion & Lennox, rises 13-10 (on the chart dated September 29).

The song jumps with an increase in all metrics (airplay, digital sales and streams), lifting mostly on the strength of streams, gaining by 48 percent to 3.7 million in U.S. streams in week ending September 20, according to Nielsen Music.

It also spiked by 8 percent to 9.7 million in radio audience, as it pushes 11-6 on the Latin Airplay chart.

For Zion & Lennox, the jump earns them their sixth Hot Latin Songs top 10.

“Justo” is the trio’s second collaboration. They previously ranked in the top tier together in 2016 when Zion & Lennox’s “Otra Vez,” featuring J Balvin, hit No. 5.

“Justo” is the fifth single from J Balvin’s fifth studio album, Vibras, which debuted as his second No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart in June.

Zion & Lennox Sign Worldwide Booking Deal with Magnus Talent Agency

The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo have signed a worldwide booking deal with Magnus Talent Agency, the bookings division of Marc Anthony‘s Magnus Media, according to Billboard.

Victor Manuelle to Perform at the Los Dells Music, Art and Food Festival

Victor Manuelle is headed to the Midwest…

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican salsa singer is set to perform at the second annual Los Dells Music, Art and Food Festival.

Manuelle is among the new wave of artists confirmed for the two-day music event that’s known as the largest Latin multi-genre music fest in the Midwest.

Other additions include Flo RidaEl TriZion & Lennox, El Haragan & CIAMau y Ricky, and Jesse Baez.

Organizers of the event also revealed that FarinaDescember BuenoJarina de Marco, Raquel Sofia, Gadiel,and Oscarcito will all perform at the Toyota Music Denat the festival.

Daddy Yankee’s “Dura” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican rapper-singer has earned his ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, as “Dura” rises 4-1 on the March 17-dated list.

The song collected 16.4 million in audience impressions (up 15 percent) in the week ending March 11, according to Nielsen Music.

“Dura” is the first single from Daddy Yankee’s upcoming studio album El Disco Duro.

“This song belongs to the people, not me,” Daddy Yankee tells Billboard.

Daddy Yankee replaces himself at No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart, as his featured turn on Wisin’s “Todo Comienza En La Disco” (also featuring Yandel) crowned the list a week earlier (March 10). On the new chart, is descends 1-5.

The last time an act replaced itself at No. 1 on Latin Airplay was on November 5, 2016, when J Balvin replaced himself atop the list. That week, Balvin’s “Safari,” featuring Pharrell Williams and Bia & Sky ceded the summit to Zion & Lennox’s “Otra Vez,” featuring Balvin. The latter jumped 4-1, earning Balvin his sixth leader. He’s since added a seventh No. 1 with “Mi Gente,” alongside Willy William, featuring Beyoncé.

On Hot Latin Songs — which blends airplay, sales and streams — “Dura” holds at No. 2 for a second week, and takes Greatest Gainer/Airplay honors. It also hits No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, ascending 3-1. It’s his 17th leader on the list, extending his record for the most No. 1s in the 17-year history of the tally. In second place: Wisin & Yandel, with 14.

Cardi B Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “La Modelo”

Cardi B has added another chart-topper to her resume…

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American rapper has earned her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart dated March 3, as her collaboration with Ozuna “La Modelo,” zooms 12-1 in its seventh week.

It’s Ozuna’s second No. 1 on the chart.

The track, which earns Greatest Gainer honors, rises a whopping 70 percent in audience in the week ending February 25, according to Nielsen Music, climbing to 16.84 million.

It’s the second song to vault to No. 1 from outside the top 10 in 2018, following Jennifer Lopez’s “Amor, Amor, Amor,” featuring Wisin, which also rose 12-1 (February 3).

Prior to Lopez, Don Omar and Zion & Lennox did it a little over a year ago with “Te Quiero Pa’mi,” jumping 11-1 on the December 24, 2016-dated chart.

“I’m super happy with this No. 1,” Ozuna tells Billboard. “My team and I have worked extra hard to achieve it. I thank God for everything that is happening in my career, my family and followers for the support, and of course, my friend Cardi B for being part of this. Ozuna first led Latin Airplay as the featured act on Wisin’s “Escapate Conmigo,” which spent one week at No. 1 (Sept. 9, 2017), after holding in the top 10 for 16 weeks.

Over on the Hot Latin Songs chart — which blends airplay, sales, and streams — “La Modelo” rises 6-5 as the chart’s greatest gainer in airplay. Ozuna collects his fourth top five on the list and his third this year. Concurrently, the track ascends 86-72 on the Billboard Hot 100.

On the Top Latin Albums chart, Ozuna’s Odisea spends a 26th week at No. 1, tying with Ricky Martin’s Vuelve for the fourth-most weeks ever atop the 24-year-old list.

Marc Anthony Among Artists to Perform at “Unidos Por Puerto Rico” Concert & Telethon Event

Marc Anthony is ready to unite for a cause…

Puerto Rico’s First Lady, Beatriz Rosselló, announced the resumption of “Unidos Por Puerto Rico” concert and telethon event, with the 49-year-old Puerto Rican salsa singer among the featured artists.

The charitable initiative was originally organized in early September to help those affected by Hurricane Irma and now joins the effort to raise funds for damages caused by Hurricane Maria.

In addition to Anthony, the concert-telethon will feature Luis FonsiJuan Luis Guerra, Ednita Nazario, Olga TañónGilberto Santa RosaZion & LennoxCarlos Vives, Maluma, La SectaTito el Bambino, Vico C, Nicky JamJowell & Randy, Pirulo y La Tribe, Víctor Manuel, Wisin, Ozuna and Yandel, among others.

The artists will also unite for a song and video titled “Isla Bendita“, which will honor the event.

“United for Puerto Rico” will air on October 22 directly from Puerto Rico through more than 20 Spanish Broadcasting System radio stations and on television through Telemundo, Univision and Mega TV in the U.S.

“Puerto Rico needs us now more than ever after suffering the scourge of two consecutive hurricanes,” said the Rosselló in a statement.

Wisin & Yandel, winners of two Latin Grammys and one Grammy, have reunited for Yandel’s new single “Como Antes,” released on Friday, September 8, along with a music video.

On the new single — composed by Yandel, Wisin, Víctor Viera Moore and Marco Masis — “el duo de la historia” goes back to their roots, to their unique sound and street lyrics:

Iglesias Earns Record-Extending 29th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

The 41-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter’s latest single “Subeme La Radio,” featuring Descemer Bueno and Zion & Lennox, steps 2-1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart (dated April 15).

The track rises 4 percent to 21.5 million audience impressions (in the week ending April 2, according to Nielsen Music), extending Iglesias’ record for the most No. 1s ever on the 22-year-old list to 29.

Iglesias holds a large lead, with 13 more chart-topping hits than Ricky Martin, who is in second place with 16.

Iglesias first topped the chart in 1995 when “Si Tu Te Vas” spent eight weeks at No. 1.

Iglesias not only holds the most No. 1s on the Latin Airplay chart, he has also spent the most weeks at the top of the chart: 159 weeks. Seven of his songs have exceeded 10 weeks at No. 1.

Only one other act has had multiple songs spend 10 or more weeks at No. 1: Juanes, who notched two long-running chart leaders with “Me Enamora” (20 weeks in 2007) and “Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor” (12 weeks in 2004).

Iglesias’ longest-running chart-topper, “Bailando,” featuring Bueno and Gente de Zona, led the list for 20 weeks. (Shakira holds the record for longest-running No. 1, 25 weeks, earned in 2005 with “La Tortura,” featuring Alejandro Sanz).
