Fernanda Romero Starring in the YA Supernatural Thriller “Karma’s a Bitch”

Fernanda Romero is dealing with some serious karma

The 39-year-old Mexican actress, model and singer has been cast in the YA supernatural thriller Karma’s a Bitch, which recently wrapped production.

Penned by Elizabeth Blake-Thomas, the film follows queer teen Charley Stevens (Blake-Thomas) as she moves to the remote town of Latigo Springs, where her recently deceased mother, Maya, grew up. Soon after arriving, Charley is plagued with strange nightmares that tease a horrific event from the past, hinting at why Maya left town when she was younger. The spitting image of her mother, Charley has an uncontrollable curse; the ability to instantly inflict bad karma. Feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders, Charley finds comfort in classmate Val (Hu), falling head over heels for them. The more Charley investigates the town’s secrets, the more her curse spins out of control, hurting those she cares about. Equipped with Maya’s old journals, Charley is determined to push past any obstacle until all secrets of her mother and Latigo Springs are revealed.

Elizabeth Blake-Thomas is the film’s director.

Romero’s previous credits include the Mexican telenovela Eternamente tuya, Entourage and her supporting role in the American film The Eye.

“Amor En 266 Millas,” Starring Eli Cay, to Make World Premiere at Dances With Films Festival

Eli Cay’s latest project is getting a special screening…

The 48-year-old Puerto Rican actor’s indie film Amor En 266 Millas, from Mathew Kodath and Benji Lopez’s Guacamaya Films, is headed to Los Angeles’ Dances With Films.

The film, an official selection of the festival on June 16, will make its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood at 9:15 p.m.

The road trip pic tells the story of Marcos (Cay), a divorced man who finds himself broke and stuck in his job. Armed with an idea, he sets out on a journey to achieve his dreams. His younger brother and sister-in-law plot to change his plans with an adventure across 266 miles in the high desert that will be life-changing for all of them.

Lopez directed the film, which also stars Fernanda Romero, Laura Aleman and Luis Omar O’Farrill, from his and Jennifer Gomez Castillo’s script.

Danny Trejo to Star in “Wolf Mountain”

Danny Trejo is heading up the mountain…

The 76-year-old Mexican American actor will star opposite Tobin Bell and Latin singer Malu Trevejo in Wolf Mountain, which is wrapping up production now in Castaic, California.

The film is written by Keli Price, who also stars, and is directed by David Lipper.

The story follows AJ (Keli Price), who begins having vivid dreams of his parents’ death. He decides to go back to the spot where they were killed, 20 years ago, accompanied by his brother and his brother’s family. But legend has it there is something mysterious roaming these woods.

Additional cast include Karissa Staples, David Lipper, Fernanda Romero, Eddie McClintock, Matt Rife and Abdel Hameed.

Trejo’s previous credits include American Gods, The Flash, and From Dusk to Dawn: The Series.

The Montelongo-Produced “Mission Park” to Open in Select AMC Theaters This September

AMC Theaters has announced plans to run Mission Park, the first film from the 43-year-old real estate entrepreneur and reality television star’s production company Armando Montelongo Productions, in select theaters this September, as part of its AMC Independent platform.

Mission Park will be released in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Antonio on September 6. Other markets will follow.

The crime drama, written and directed by Bryan Ramirez in his directorial debut, is the first project from Montelongo’s San Antonio-based company, which he formed in 2011 to promote the production of independent films and cable TV programming in South Texas.

The film follows four friends who become divided when two of them fall into a life of crime and the other two become FBI agents who are sent undercover to attempt to bring their best friends down. It was filmed in San Antonio.

Mission Park stars Jeremy Ray Valdez, Walter Perez, Fernanda Romero, Joseph Julian Soria and Will Rothhaar. It also features Vivica A. Fox, Will Estes and Sean Patrick Flanery.

Mission Park won the best narrative feature, best director and best acting performance (for Perez) prizes at this year’s Boston International Film Festival, and the Special Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.

Romero Hard at Work on English and Spanish Projects

Fernanda Romero is setting out to be a crossover queen…

The 30-year-old Mexican actress and singer, who just finished starring in the highly acclaimed film El Fantastico Mundo de Juan Oro by Sebastian del Amo, has a number of projects to premiere in Spanish and English, as she hopes to make her mark in the entertainment world on both sides of the border.

Romero is currently appearing in Chamacas, a comedy show on the Hispanic online entertainment channel Nuevon, which is broadcast on YouTube and is the property of actress Sofia Vergara.

She’s also just wrapped production of the English-language films Ghost Team One, a supernatural adventure, and Mission Park, the story of four close friends who head off in very different directions. Addtionally, Romero’s romantic comedy Pendejo, in which she stars opposite Raja Fenske, Danny Trejo, Laksh Singh and others was recently released on DVD.

“I feel blessed by all the projects coming my way. I believe you start sowing and suddenly all those little seeds start to flower. But you can’t sit back and rest – you have to keep giving your all and opening new doors,” Romero, born and raised in Mexico City, told Efe.
