Martin to Star in Ryan Murphy’s FX Limited Series “Versace: American Crime Story”

Ricky Martin is bracing for a life of American Crime

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actor has been cast in Versace: American Crime Story, the third installment in the FX limited series from Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.

Martin, who starred on ABC’s General Hospital back in 1994-1995, will co-star opposite Édgar Rarmirez, Penélope Cruz and Darren Criss.

The 10-episode Versace examines the shocking July 1997 assassination of Gianni Versace (Ramirez) on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion by sociopath and serial killer Andrew Cunanan (Criss).

Martin will play Versace’s longtime partner Antonio D’Amico; Cruz plays Versace’s sister Donatella.

This is a reunion for Martin and Murphy, who first cast the Latin music superstar in an episode of his Fox series Glee.

Versace, from Fox 21 and FX Productions, is based on the book Vulgar Favors by Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth.

Tom Rob Smith is writing the first two and multiple subsequent episodes, and Murphy, who received an Emmy nomination for directing the opening episode of The People v. O.J. Simpsonwill direct the first hour.

Versace will begin production later this month in Los Angeles and Miami for a 2018 premiere. It will follow the second installment in the franchise, Katrina: American Crime Story.

American Crime Storys core producing team — Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, all Emmy winners for People v O.J. Simpson as Best Limited Series — executive produce Versace alongside Smith.

Martin has sold more than 70 million albums and has done runs on Broadway in Evita and Les Miserables. The “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer’s most recent 10th studio album, 2015’s A Quien Quiera Escuchar, won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

A dedicated global advocate for tolerance via his Ricky Martin Foundation, Martin can be seen in Las Vegas at his residency at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino.

Lozano Lands Role on Netflix’s “Narcos”

Florencia Lozano is joining the war on drugs, so to speak…

The 46-year-old Argentine American actress, best known for portraying Téa Delgado on the soap opera One Life to Live and General Hospital, has landed a series regular role opposite Wagner Moura and Pedro Pascal on Season 2 of the Netflix drama series Narcos.

Written by Chris Brancato and directed by Jose PadilhaNarcos is the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict.

Lozano will play DEA agent Claudia Messina.

She appeared in the feature film Amok alongside Josh Hamilton and Juliet Rylance. She’ll next be seen in Amy Makes Three.

Her television credits include appearances on The Mysteries of Laura, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl.

Serricchio to Star Opposite Brandy in BET’s Comedy Series “Zoe Ever After”

The 33-year-old Argentine actor.has been cast in BET Networks’ comedy series Zoe Ever After, starring and co-executive produced by Brandy Norwood.

Zoe Ever After centers on Zoe Moon (Norwood), a newly single mom stepping out of the shadow of her famous boxer ex-husband Gemini Moon (Dorian Missick) while trying to balance dating, motherhood, a complicated relationship with her ex and finally fulfilling her career dream of starting a cosmetics line.

Serricchio, best known for his role as Diego Alcazar on General Hospital and as Alejandro “Alex” Chavez on The Young and the Restless, will portray sexy contractor Miguel.

His other credits include the film The Wedding Ringer, as well as appearances on Witches of East End, Bones and Covert Affairs.

Production is underway in Atlanta for premiere in January.

It’s Official… Mota to Compete on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”

It’s official… Bethany Mota will be shaking her tailfeather on television soon.

The 18-year-old half-Mexican YouTube vlogger and fashionista, as previously rumored, has been selected to compete on Season 19 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

Mota, who recently won Choice Female Web Star at the Teen Choice Awards, is among the 13 new dancers for the upcoming season of DWTS, which will premiere on Monday, September 15.

The beauty guru’s YouTube channel — macbarbie07 (7 million subscribers) — features hair, makeup, fashion and DIY tutorials. It earned her a fashion line at Aéropostale, and she was featured as part of a YouTube ad campaign.

Paired with professional dancer Derek Hough, Mota will compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy against the likes of Olympian Lolo Jones, Mean GirlsJonathan Bennett, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘s Alfonso Ribeiro and NASCAR great Michael Waltrip.

Other competitors include Duck Dynasty’s Sadie Robertson, actress Lea Thompson of Back to the Future, Ultimate Fighting Champion Randy Couture, legendary comedian Tommy Chong, celebrated talk show host Tavis Smiley, as well as famed fashion designer Betsey Johnson, Pretty Little Liars actress Janel Parrish and General Hospital alum Antonio Sabato, Jr.

Co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews announced the celebrity cast live Thursday morning on Good Morning America in Times Square.

The addition of Julianne Hough, named as the fourth judge last month, will add some pizazz this season. Hough won two mirror-ball trophies as a pro during her DWTS run, and will have a permanent spot at the judges’ table next to veterans Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

 

Castillo Gives Birth to First Child

Teresa Castillo has added a new role to her resume: first-time mom.

The 30-year-old Latina actress and General Hospital gave birth to her first child last Thursday, the soap opera star revealed on Twitter.

“My husband and I are happy to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Victoria Milani,” she wrote. “She was born on May 29th. We are in LOVE.”

Castillo and her husband Shane Aaron tied the knot in 2008.

The actress, who has played Sabrina Santiago on General Hospital since 2012, has also guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother and Franklin & Bash.

Cruz to Appear in Recurring Role on El Rey Network’s “Matador”

The 31-year-old Mexican-American actor, producer and filmmaker has landed a recurring role on Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network’s Matador.

Created by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the action drama series chronicles the unlikely rise of Antonio “Matador” Bravo (portrayed by Gabriel Luna), a popular soccer star who in reality uses his sports career as a cover for his real job: a skilled covert operative executing missions for a little-known branch of the CIA.

Cruz will portray Ricky Bravo, Tony’s younger brother who’s currently in prison.

Cruz’s previous television credits include appearances on General Hospital, Prison Break, The Closer and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

Serricchio’s “The Wedding Ringer,” Starring Kevin Hart, Opening Next January

The 31-year-old Argentine actor and soap opera star’s The Wedding Ringer, starring comedian Kevin Hart, will hit theaters on January 16, 2015, during Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.

Serricchio, best known for his roles on The Young and the Restless and General Hospital, stars as Edmundo in the film.

The Wedding Ringer is described as a comedy about a loner and the friendship he forms with the guy he hires to pose as the best man at his upcoming wedding.

The Screen Gems/Miramax film, directed by Jeremy Garelick, also stars Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco and Jorge Garcia.

Lamas Expecting Second Child with Husband Nik Richie

Shayne Lamas is expanding her family circle…

The 28-year-old part-Argentine American actress, best known for her role as a young Carly Corinthos on General Hospital, is pregnant with her second child with husband Nik Richie, according to Us Weekly.

“Shayne’s 12 weeks pregnant,” Richie tells the magazine. “Like the great husband I am, I knocked her up during her birthday trip to Maui, Hawaii last November. Definitely a love baby”

The former The Bachelor contestant, the winner of the twelfth season of the reality dating competition series, was previously engaged to Season 12 Bachelor Matt Grant. She gave birth to her first child, Press Dhal Lamas-Richie, on Nov. 11, 2011.

Richie and Lamas, who split with Grant in 2008, eloped in April 2010.

The daughter of hunktastic actor Lorenzo Lamas, Shayne is also known for her role on her family’s E! reality series, Leave it to Lamas.

Castillo Expecting Her First Child

General Hospital star Teresa Castillo will be heading to a local hospital sometime this May…

The 30-year-old Latina actress and her husband Shane Aaron are expecting a baby girl, the happy couple tells People magazine. The baby’s due date is May 24.

“It feels wonderful. This is the most joyous time of my life. It feels great to finally be able to share it with the world,” she gushes.

Castillo also recalls the moment she found out that she got pregnant.

“He knew I was taking a test and realized the outcome when he heard my screams from the bathroom,” she says jokingly.

 

The couple adds that they wanted to know the baby’s sex so they could “get to know it already,” but they have not decided a name for their unborn baby.

“[We’re] just going to let the right name come to us,” Castillo explains.

According to the magazine, the actress’ pregnancy will be written into the ABC drama’s plot.

Castillo and Aaron tied the knot in 2008.

Along with her role as Sabrina Santiago on General Hospital, Castillo;s other credits include guest-starring roles on How I Met Your Mother, iCarly and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Matos Lands Recurring Role on the CW’s “Hart of Dixie”

Eddie Matos won’t just be whistlin’ Dixie…

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican actor has joined the third season of the CW’s Hart of Dixie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Matos, an All My Children and General Hospital alum, will appear in a recurring role with potential romantic implications.

Matos will play Enrique, the “gorgeous” Latino driver for Grandma Bettie Breeland (Maree Cheatham), who is saving money to attend poetry school. Described as passionate, charming and incredibly romantic, Enrique attempts to win the heart of one of the Bluebell ladies.

Matos’ other television credits include guest spots on Psych, Awake, Ghost Whisperer and House.

Hart of Dixie returns on January 13 on the CW.
