Castillo Gives Birth to First Child

Teresa Castillo has added a new role to her resume: first-time mom.

The 30-year-old Latina actress and General Hospital gave birth to her first child last Thursday, the soap opera star revealed on Twitter.

“My husband and I are happy to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Victoria Milani,” she wrote. “She was born on May 29th. We are in LOVE.”

Castillo and her husband Shane Aaron tied the knot in 2008.

The actress, who has played Sabrina Santiago on General Hospital since 2012, has also guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother and Franklin & Bash.

The 27-year-old part-Spanish actress/singer and her Glee co-star Darren Criss joined voices at the 19th annual “Taste For A Cure” benefit gala to help raise more than $700,000 for UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center at the Beverly Wilshire Friday night.

As an all-star crowd of Hollywood elite dined on a sumptuous menu paired with 14 distinguished vintages from six of France’s premier wine-making regions, Criss asked who in the audience would donate to hear Michele join him on stage for a duet.

Co-chair Dana Walden bid $5,000 and the pair performed a touching version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.

Michele voices Dorothy in the new animated Oz-inspired movie, Legends Of Oz: Dorothy’s Return.

She posted a snippet of the performance on Instagram and wrote, “And then this happened!”

In all, more than 450 guests attended the event, which also included the participation of How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan, Community’sJoel McHale and actor/comedian Tom Papa.

Rodriguez Lands Bestie Role on CBS’ “How I Met Your Dad” Pilot

The 29-year-old Latina actress and Broadway star, who most recently starred on the second season of NBC’s short-lived series Smash, has been cast in one of the lead roles on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) spinoff How I Met Your Dad.

Rodriguez will star opposite Greta Gerwig and Drew Tarver on the follow-up to the long-running hit sitcom.

Similar to the original series, How I Met Your Dad (HIMYD) tells the story from a female point of view, that of Sally (Gerwig), and revolves around a new group of friends in New York.

Rodriguez will portray Sally’s best friend Juliet, a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country.

The pilot, from 20th Century Television, was written by Emily Spivey and HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. It will be directed by Pam Fryman.

Lopez to Topline NBC’s Detective Drama “Shades of Blue”

Jennifer Lopez is joining the force…

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican actress/singer and American Idol judge will star in an NBC detective drama Shades of Blue, which has received a 13-episode straight-to-series order from the network.

Produced by Lopez and Ryan Seacrest and written by Adi Hasak, the complex police series centers on Harlee McCord (portrayed by Lopez), a single mother and detective recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force.

Part of a close-knit unit known for its conviction record, Harlee has become compromised by her colleagues — all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.

The project will begin working on scripts in June with an eye toward a 2015 production start date, all for the 2015-16 season.

“Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “We’re especially excited that Jennifer is returning to her acting roots from such great movies as Out of Sight, and we know that she will create this complicated character in a vivid way that will breathe new life into the cop show genre. Ryan Seacrest is part of the NBCU family and doing his first scripted drama series with us makes perfect sense.”

After a couple of brief television series gigs in the early 1990s, Lopez transitioned into features with her breakout starring roles in 1997′s Selena and 1998′s Out of Sight.

For the past two decades, she has largely stayed away from scripted series sans a couple of guest starring stints, including Will & Grace and How I Met Your Mother, while becoming a reality star as a judge on American Idol.

Garcia Swisher to Star in ABC‘s Drama Series “Astronaut Wives Club”

The 34-year-old half-Cuban American actress has been cast as one of the leads in ABC‘s drama series Astronaut Wives Club, which was recently picked up for the summer with a 10-episode straight-to-series order.

Written by Stephanie Savage and based on Lily Koppel’s novel, the project comes from ABC Studios.

It tells the real story of the women who stood beside some of the biggest heroes in American history during the height of the space race.

Garcia Swisher will portray Betty Grissom, the wife of one of the original astronauts. A bouncy redhead with curls askew and a folksy Hoosier accent, she’s got a down-home appeal, which endears her to the public.

Astronaut Wives Club extends Swisher’s relationship with ABC and ABC Studios following her recent arc as The Little Mermaid Ariel on their hit series Once Upon A Time.

Garcia Swisher’s other credits include Better with You, Reba, Gossip Girl, Royal Pains and How I Met Your Mother.

Castillo Expecting Her First Child

General Hospital star Teresa Castillo will be heading to a local hospital sometime this May…

The 30-year-old Latina actress and her husband Shane Aaron are expecting a baby girl, the happy couple tells People magazine. The baby’s due date is May 24.

“It feels wonderful. This is the most joyous time of my life. It feels great to finally be able to share it with the world,” she gushes.

Castillo also recalls the moment she found out that she got pregnant.

“He knew I was taking a test and realized the outcome when he heard my screams from the bathroom,” she says jokingly.

 

The couple adds that they wanted to know the baby’s sex so they could “get to know it already,” but they have not decided a name for their unborn baby.

“[We’re] just going to let the right name come to us,” Castillo explains.

According to the magazine, the actress’ pregnancy will be written into the ABC drama’s plot.

Castillo and Aaron tied the knot in 2008.

Along with her role as Sabrina Santiago on General Hospital, Castillo;s other credits include guest-starring roles on How I Met Your Mother, iCarly and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Morgan Lands a Recurring Role on The CW’s Sci-Fi Drama “The 100”

Lindsey Morgan has scored a 100 in Hollywood… 

The half-Mexican actress has landed the role of a “fiercely determined” heroine on The CW‘s midseason drama The 100.

Morgan, best known for portraying Sonny Corinthos and Alexis Davis’ daughter Kristina Davis on General Hospital from 2012-13, has landed a recurring role on the futuristic sci-fi drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship called the Ark housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of recolonizing the planet.

The series is based on Little, Brown’s The Hundred book series by Kass Morgan.

Morgan will play the “smart, skilled and fiercely determined Raven, the youngest mechanical engineer the Ark has seen in 52 years,” according to the official character description. “Upon learning about the 100, she is desperate to be reunited with her friends on the ground.”

Morgan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her General Hospital arc.

Her past television credits include How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings and Franklin & Bash.

The 100 premieres midseason on The CW.

Rodriguez to Guest Star on Fox’s “The Goodwin Games”

Talk about hot for (math) teacher…

Adam Rodriguez has signed on to play a college math professor on Fox’s upcoming midseason comedy The Goodwin Games.

The 37-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban American actor, who set hearts aflutter in the hit make stripper movie Magic Mike, will guest star as Ivan, a grade school friend of Chloe (Becki Newton) who becomes not only her professor but also a potential love interest.

The former CSI: Miami star will appear on a recurring basis. Rodriguez could appear in as many as four of the first 13 episodes.

Carter Bays, who created The Goodwin Games with fellow How I Met Your Mother executive producer Craig Thomas, describes Ivan via email as “a scrawny, insecure nebbish with crippling allergies,” adding: “Obviously Adam Rodriguez was the first person we thought of!”

The Goodwin Games, which centers on three siblings who stand to inherit millions if they can complete the crazy challenges in their deceased father’s will, also stars Scott Foley and T.J. Miller.

The Goodwin Games is slated to debut in early 2013.

Garcia to Guest-Star on “Californication”

Jorge Garcia is experiencing a case of Californication

The 39-year-old half-Cuban/half-Chilean American actor/comedian has landed a guest-starring role on Showtime’s Californication.

Garcia will be reunited with his former Lost co-star Maggie Grace, who was previously cast in the major recurring role of Faith, a rock star groupie and muse who befriends David Duchovny’s character Hank Moody. Not surprisingly, their relationship becomes more than platonic.

Garcia, who most recently starred in Fox’s short-lived sci-fi series Alcatraz, will play an old contact from Faith’s past.

Grace first tweeted the news of their reunion, sharing a photo of the pair on set, saying:

“Cue music: ‘reunited & it feels so goood’ #lost reunion @Jorgegarcia & i join forces in upcoming #Californication ep!”

Since his days on the mysterious island on ABC’s Lost, Garcia has appeared on How I Met Your Mother, Fringe and the short-lived Mr. Sunshine.

Martin to Perform at the Tony Awards

Following his triumphant return to The Great White Way in Evita, Ricky Martin will be performing on Broadway’s biggest night.

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actor will bring his role as Ernesto “Che” Guevara to life at the upcoming Tony Awards, which will be hosted by How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris.

Martin, who made his Broadway debut in Les Miserables, has wowed audiences on Broadway alongside his Evita co-stars Elena Rogers, who plays Eva Perón, and Michael Cerveris, who plays Juan Perón.

To get in character as the controversial revolutionary icon—in a role that has taken him to “another place mentally, physically, and spiritually”—Martin has grown a moustache. But the experience has had more than a physical impact on him.

“I’ve felt emotions onstage that I never felt before, it has strengthened me as a person and as an artist,” Martin said in a press conference in March. “It’s been a great journey. I’m here to grow and to learn. It’s been a fascinating trip,” he added.

In addition to Martin, the list of performers at this year’s Tony Awards include

Cuban-American Broadway star Rául Esparza, Audra McDonald, Matthew Broderick and the casts of Godspell and Ghost The Musical, among many others.

The Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 10.
