Natalie Morales is losing it

The 31-year-old Cuban American actress has landed a lead role in Losing It, a single-camera family comedy from Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told creator DJ Nash and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.

Written by Nash, Losing It centers on three misfit adult siblings and their parents who — between divorce, new parenthood, early-onset dementia and let’s just say life — are all losing it in different ways. And family is the only way they’re going to find it.

Morales will play one of the siblings, Charlie, the adopted sister who is a baker.

The casting comes on the heels of Morales’ arc on the new Netflix dark comedy series Santa Clarita Diet, which is produced by Kapital Entertainment. This marks Morales’ return to ABC where she co-starred on the underrated comedy series Trophy Wife.

Her other credits include The Grinder, Parks and Recreation and The Middleman.

Telefe’s Telenovela “Un Año Para Recordar” Getting an American Makeover for NBC

It looks like NBC could be the latest network to get into the telenovela remake business…

The network has given a script plus penalty commitment to A Year to Remember, a drama based on the Telefe telenovela Un Año Para Recordar, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Telefe USA.

Un Año Para Recordar

It marks the first network sale for Telefe USA since the LA-based outpost of Argentina’s largest broadcaster, Telefe, was launched in March.

The adaptation, written by Michael Folley, is a crime procedural that centers on a Boston homicide detective who’s confronted by her husband over an affair she’s having with her partner. In their ensuing fight, she accidentally kills him – only to wake the next day to find it’s a year earlier — her husband still alive, the affair not yet begun. Given a second chance, she somehow must find a way to keep the memory of that tragic night from becoming reality.

The original telenovela, which aired in Argentina in 2011, starred Carla Peterson and Gastón Pauls.

Kaplan has experience with Latin American formats. His company developed and produced the well-reviewed Freeform drama series Chasing Life, which was based on a Televisa telenovela.

Cabral will play Colleen, the woman Matt has just fallen in love with who is stuck in a messy breakup with her ex-fiancé.

Cabral is reuniting with 20 Century Fox Television after playing the female lead in the studio’s short-lived Fox comedy series Enlisted.

Cabral’s other television credits include ABC’s Don’t Trust The B— in Apartment 23, as well as The Glades, Happy Endings and Free Agents.

The Mysteries of Laura is being produced by Warner Bros. Television, Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.
