Los Tigres del Norte to Co-Headline First-Ever Bésame Mucho Festival at LA’s Dodger Stadium

Los Tigres del Norte are puckering up…

The legendary Mexican norteño band will co-headline the first-ever edition of Bésame Mucho, taking place on Saturday, December 3 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.

Los Tigres del Norte will headline alongside Julieta Venegas, Café Tacvba, Zoé, Sin Bandera, Juanes and Banda El Recodo, among many other Latin acts who will perform.

The festival featured a head-turning, multigenerational lineup, featuring pop, Regional Mexican, merengue, cumbia and rock artists.

According to the Need Pastel-designed flyer, the Tropicália and La Tocada-organized event will be a one-day festival with three separate stages: Rockero stage, Las Clásicas stage and Te Gusta El Pop? stage.

The fest will also feature sets by Bronco, Banda Machos, Caifanes, Enanitos Verdes, Panteón Rococó, Los Ángeles Azules, Sonora Dinamita, Kabah, Fey and Aleks Syntek with additional headliners to be announced later this year.

Giving When We Were Young vibes featuring a packed lineup, the logistics of how the festival will pan out throughout the day are yet to be outlined by its producers.

But just hours after the event was announced, Latin music fans took to social media to comment on the nostalgia-provoking lineup while also confirming their attendance to a festival that’s 10 months away.

“I’m there,” someone tweeted. “The lineup is absolutely insane,” another Twitter user wrote.

Tickets for the Bésame Mucho festival will go on sale Friday, February 18 at 5:00 pm ET. General admission tickets will start at $199.99 with VIP tickets starting at $324.99.

Guaynaa Teams Up with Los Angeles Azules to Release “Cumbia A La Gente”

Guaynaa is lighting the fuse(ion)…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper has teamed up with Los Angeles Azules have joined voices for “Cumbia A La Gente.”

The single is a good example of what happens when old-school artists team up with the newer generation… with greatness band to happen.

The song fuses the best of both worlds: Guaynaa’s modern perreo and Los Angeles signature cumbia sonidera.

Clarinets, trumpets, güiras, and other instruments shine in the hip-shaking bop.

As ever, Guaynaa is witty and charming with his lyrics, even giving off Calle 13 “Atrevete” vibes at one point.

The music video is just as playful, featuring both artists crashing a supermarket.

Los Angeles Azules to Celebrate 40-Year Career with U.S. Leg of “40 Años Tour”

Los Angeles Azules are celebrating a major milestone with a bang…

The Mexican musical group, who reeled in a new wave of fans after a revamped sound, a Coachella set and a viral Justin Bieber, will celebrate 40 years in music with a U.S. tour.

Los Angeles Azules, formed by siblings of the Mejia Avante family — Elías, Alfredo, José Hilario, Jorge, Cristina and Guadalupe — in the early ‘80s, will kick off the 40 Años Tour on August. 26 in Corpus Christi, Texas’ Selena Auditorium and is slated to wrap up on Nov. 27 at Reno Events Center in Nevada.

The group will then continue in 2022 with three confirmed dates to take place in March in Chicago, Milwaukee and Indianapolis.

With their catchy cumbia sonidera sound, Los Angeles Azules are known for hits like “Como Te Voy a Olvidar” and “El Liston de tu Pelo.” In 2019, the group landed their first No. 1 in 19 years on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Jan. 26) with their Natalia Lafourcade-assisted single “Nunca es Suficiente.”

“Keeping cumbia alive has been very challenging,” Dr. Elias previously told Billboard. “The group has had its up and downs, but the most important part of all is taking cumbia to all parts of the world and that’s what’s happening.”

Tickets for the “40 Años Tour” will be available for presale at 10:00 am local time on Thursday with code LAA40. They officially go on sale starting at 10:00 am local time on Friday via Ticketmaster or the official Los Angeles Azules website.

Maluma to Perform at This Year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Awards Show

Maluma is bringing a taste of Jamaica to this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro…

The 27-year-old Colombian superstar is set to premiere hits from his surprise new album 7 Días en Jamaica during the awards show on February 18.

Meanwhile, Marc Anthony and Daddy Yankee will perform their new hit, “De Vuelta Pa La Vuelta.”

The three stars are the latest performers announced for the first Latin music award show of the year, which will air on Univision.

Other performers announced include Mexican star Carlos Rivera, who will perform “100 Años” alongside Maluma. And in a first, the entire Montaner family – Evaluna, Mau y Ricky and dad Ricardo Montaner — will be joined by Camilo (who is married to Evaluna Montaner) to perform “Amén,” which was released during the holidays.

Regional Mexican rising star Lenin Ramírez will also perform alongside Grupo Firme, as will Chesca; with Prince Royce taking the stage alongside Natti Natasha. The latter will sing their hit “Antes que salga el sol” together on television for the first time.

They join previously announced performers Los Ángeles Azules, Anuel AA, CNCO, Ozuna and Gloria Trevi.

Premios Lo Nuestro will air on Univision on February 18, live from the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Bad Bunny Wins Big at the First-Ever Spotify Awards

Bad Bunny is the Spotify king in Mexico…

The first-ever Spotify Awards were celebrated this week in Mexico City, with the 25-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer topping the list of winners with seven awards.

Bad Bunnyscored big wins in the top categories including Spotify Artist of the Year, Most Listened to Artistand Most-Streamed Male Artist.

Karol Gpicked up four awards, making her the top Latina winner of the night.

Among her wins, the 29-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer picked up the awards for Most-Streamed Female Artist andMost Streamed Female Urban Pop Artist.

Other winners include J Balvin, Danna Paola, Ha*ash, Shakiraand Luis Miguel.

According to Spotify, the winners are based 100 percent on the user-generated data or the patterns and listening habits of Spotify users in Mexico.

The ceremony included standout performances by J Balvin and the Black Eyed Peaswho sang their crossover hit “Ritmo,” Karol G, who performed “Tusa,” and Los Ángeles Azuleswho took the stage to sing classic cumbiasongs with artists like Belinda, Horacio Palenciaand Lalo Ebratt.

Los Angeles Azules Bringing Their ‘Todos Somos Cumbia’ Tour to the U.S.

Los Angeles Azules are ready to cumbianorth of the border…

The Mexican musical group will bring all of their classics to the U.S. with their Todos Somos Cumbia tour, adding 21 dates for a total of 27 shows in the states.

In support of Gran Centenario Tequila, the tour will kick off February 21 in Ft. Myers, Florida, with gigs to follow in West Palm Beach and Auburndale, marking the Mexican group’s first-ever concerts in the Sunshine State.

From late February to late April, Los Angeles will make stops in cities like Houston, New York, Washington, and Chicago. The group will retake the tour in September and November, visiting their fans in the West Coast and Canada. Additional dates will be announced.

Ximena Sariñana and Jay de la Cueva will be the special guests in select cities.

Formed by siblings of the Mejia Avante family — Elías, Alfredo, José Hilario, Jorge, Cristina and Guadalupe in 1983 — the group is known for their catchy cumbia soniderasound, including Billboard chart hits like “Como Te Voy a Olvidar” and “Nunca es Suficiente” featuring Natalia Lafourcade, which landed the group their first No. 1 in 19 years on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Jan. 26, 2019).

Their latest single “Amor a Primera Vista,” in collaboration with Belinda, Horacio Palencia, and Lalo Ebratt, jumped 11-4 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart-dated August 17, 2019, nabbing the group their eighth top 10.

Christian Nodal Wins Two Awards at the Premios de la Radio

Christian Nodal is the reyof radio…

This year’s Premios de la Radio have been doled out, recognizing the best of Regional Mexican music, with the 20-year-old Mexican singer and songwriter taking home two awards.

Nodal nabbed Male Artist of the Year and Mariachi Song of the Year for his single “De Los Besos Que Te Di.”

Banda MStook home the night’s biggest prize… Artist of the Year. The Mexican band was also named Banda of the Year.

Other winners included Calibre 50, El Fantasma, rising urban corrido artist Natanael Cano and Ana Barbara, who won Female Artist of the Year, a category that returned after three years.

Gloria Trevi was the night’s opening act, performing a cumbia version of her single “Abranse Perras,” produced exclusively for the event by producer Toy Selectah of Control Machete. Trevi was also recognized with a special award for Highest Rated Female Mexican Star in the World.

Various tributes to place Thursday night, including a heartfelt homage by Banda MS to the late Mexican singer José José.Grupo Bronco, Los Huracanes del Norteand Pancho Barrazaalso received tributes.

Following performances by La Adictiva, Los Angeles Azules, Legado 7, and others, the awards show came to an end with a special cumbia tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla with a medley performanceby Belinda(“Baila Esta Cumbia”), Chiquis(“Techno Cumbia”), Edith Marquez(“No Debes Jugar”) and Ana Barbara(“Fotos y Recuerdos”).
