Organizers for the 74th Cannes Film Festival have unveiled the nine-person jury group, which includes 52-year-old Brazilian film director, screenwriter, producer and critic.

In addition to Filho, the jury includes president Spike Lee, French-Senegalese actor-director Mati DiopOscar nominated actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, French actress Mélanie Laurent, Austrian filmmaker Jessica Hausner and French singer Mylène Farmer.

Rounding out the jury are French actor Tahar Rahim and South Korean actor Song Kang-Ho.

Filho’s first movie, Neighboring Sounds, made its world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2012 and was Brazil’s entry in the race for the Oscars. His second feature film, Aquarius, starring Sonia Braga, played in competition at the 69th Cannes in 2016 before being nominated for a César and an Independent Spirit Awards. In 2019, Bacurau, which Filho co-directed with Juliano Dornelles, screened in competition in Cannes was awarded the Jury Prize.

All together, the jury will watch 24 films in competition during the delayed film festival from July 6-17. The jury will announce its winners on the last day of the festival.

Netflixhas released the trailer for Michael Bay’s action film 6 Underground, starring the 32-year-old Mexican actor and Ryan Reynolds.

Written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the film centers on six individuals from all around the globe, each the very best at what they do. They six have been chosen not only for their skill, but for a unique desire to delete their pasts to change the future. The team is brought together by a leader (Reynolds), whose sole mission in life is to ensure that, while he and his fellow operatives will never be remembered, their actions damn sure will.

In addition to Reynolds and Garcia-Rulfo, the cast includes Mélanie LaurentCorey HawkinsAdria ArjonaBen Hardy, Lior RazPayman Maadi and Dave Franco.

The film will premiere on the streaming site on December 13.

Bejo Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies at Cannes Film Festival

The 35-year-old Argentine-French actress will reportedly serve as the mistress of ceremonies at the opening and closing ceremonies of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, according to French newspaper Le Parisien.

 It would be a great return to the festival for Bejo—who received an Oscar nomination for her role as Peppy Miller in The Artist, as well as France’s Cesar award for her work—after dazzling audiences last year with her performance in Michel Hazanavicius’ black-and-white Oscar-winning film.

Bejo would follow actresses Kristin Scott Thomas, Monica Bellucci, Diane Kruger and last year’s host Melanie Laurent.

The official announcement on the juries, film lineups and visiting guests for the 65thedition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place Thursday during a late-morning press conference in Paris.
