Georgel Releases Spotify’s First-Ever Pride Latin Exclusive Single “No Putx,” Featuring Molotov’s Tito Fuentes

Georgel is commemorating Pride Month through music…

The 36-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter, whose real name is Julio Arevalo Reyes-Rosas, has released the empowering anthem “No Putx” featuring Molotov‘s Tito Fuentes.

Georgel

In the neo hip-hop satirical track, Georgel – who’s at the forefront of ushering the Latin R&B renaissance – doesn’t hold back singing about the machista Latin culture and its efforts to oppress the LGBTQIA+ community with homophobic slurs such as p—.

But in “No Putx,” the rising artist also reaffirms the empowerment of a community that demands equality and justice.

No te confundas que ese no soy yo,” Georgel sings defiantly. “No somos machos pero somos muchos … Ahora dime quien es el [puto].”

“No Putx,” which becomes the first Pride Latin Spotify Exclusive Single, is a new take on Molotov’s 1997 rock anthem “Puto,” in which they use the infamous “p–o” chants to critique Mexican politicians. The new track is Georgel’s gift to his fans for Pride Month, which he tells Billboard he’ll sing “fiercely and loudly!”

Molotov Planning to Work on New Album Material After the Band’s U.S. Tour

Molotov is ready to return to the scene with brand new music…

The Mexican band plans to record an album of new material after completing their current U.S. tour, band member Paco Ayala told Efe.

Molotov

“Now in our concerts we are playing new numbers that haven’t been recorded to test them with people. And we like to do this, to release them live, to see the public’s reaction,” said Ayala in a tphone interview.

Some of those new songs, including “Santo Niño de Atocha” and “Goner,” are going over well with the fans, added Ayala.

Since the band can’t compose an entire album’s worth of material while touring, Molotov plans to work on new material after the tour.

“We have to take time to prepare the new songs and put out a good disc,” he said.

Molotov, winner of four Latin Grammys, are currently on a 26-city U.S. tour that is taking them from coast to coast.

Ayala and his bandmates – Miky Huidobro, Tito Fuentes de Garay and Randy Ebright – are all multi-instrumentalists and each takes part in singing/rapping lyrics that mix Spanish and English.

Molotov attained international recognition with the 1997 album ¿Donde jugaran las niñas?, which included “Gimme The Power,” a song denouncing Mexico’s political class that has become a protest anthem.
