The trio announce themselves to the music world with the release of two tracks, the speed-thrills “Feed The Cruel” and the laid-back “Better Move On.”

They’ll play the songs, and others, when they make their live debut at this year’s Ohana Festival, to be held October 2 in Dana Point, CA.

Kat Von D is makin’ music…

The 39-year-old Mexio-born half-Argentine renowned tattoo artist, makeup mogul, shoe designer, animal rights activist and Reality TV personality has added another role to her resume: recording artist.

Kat Von D

Kat Von D — who has been playing piano since she was a child — is releasing her debut album.

The 12-track Love Made Me Do It arrives on Augus 27 via KVD/Kartel Music Group, with first single “Exorcism” — a darkwave bop about love, loss and change — available now. (Listen to it here.)

Von D tells Billboard the project has been years in the making, and while she’s a fan of synthwave and bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode, she says her sound is different.

“I think we have managed to create our own sound, in our own way,” says Kat Von D.

Helping her craft that sound on Love Made Me Do It are collaborations with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Dave Grohl (Nirvana and Foo Fighters) and Danny Lohner (formerly of Nine Inch Nails), BauhausPeter Murphy, Linda Perry, and more.

Von D shares that though she had originally hoped to release the album and to tour to support it sooner, the coronavirus pandemic led to a change of plans.

“We treated the lockdowns as an opportunity to stay focused on the album, our set list and stage design, and worked together every weekday from noon to 5,” she explains of hunkering down with her band — Gregg Foreman (synth 1), Sammi Doll (synth 2), Dave Parley (drums) and Brynn Route (contortionist) — in a cottage on her property during the global shutdowns.

Love Made Me Do It arrives on August 27.

Here’s the full tracklist:

  1. “Vanish Intro”
  2. “Vanish”
  3. “Enough”

Zack de la Rocha & His Rage Against the Machine Band Mates Earn Third Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nomination

Zack de la Rocha is getting another chance to head to the Hall

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2021 nominees, with the 51-year-old Mexican American musician, singer, songwriter, rapper and activist and his Rage Against the Machine band mates earning a spot on the ballot.

Zack de la Rocha x Rage Against the Machine

In the the most gender-inclusive ballot in the Rock Hall’s history, de la Rocha and his band mates are joined by Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner and Dionne Warwick on the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot.

Formed in 1991, the group consists of vocalist  de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk.

The bands songs express revolutionary political views.

The band was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in its first year of eligibility in 2017, as well as in 2018, although both bids failed. Could their third nomination be the charm?

Fan votes, which you can cast at RockHall.com, contribute to the induction process, but don’t guarantee entry.

In 2020, the Rock Hall inducted Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, the Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston, T. Rex and the Doobie Brothers into its ranks during a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
