Ramirez Upped to Series Regular on Starz’s “Power”

J.R. Ramirez is powering up…

The 33-year-old Latino actor, who recurred on the first season of Starz’s drama series Power, has been promoted to regular for the show’s second season.

Power centers on wealthy New York City nightclub owner James “Ghost” St. Patrick (portrayed by Omari Hardwick), who is living a double life as a kingpin.

Ramirez portrays Julio, second in command to Tommy (Joseph Sikora).

Ramirez, who portrayed Dr. A.J. Aquino on Emily Owens M.D., was also recently cast as Ted “Wildcat” Grant on the upcoming third season of the CW‘s Arrow.

His other television credits include GCB, 24 and Hacienda Heights.

Even though the Colombian actress’ new crime drama Power isn’t slated to debut until June 7, Starz is already giving people a sneak peek of the full pilot episode online.

Lopez portays Pink Sneakers on the 50 Cent-executive-produced series, which centers on James “Ghost” St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick, who has a beautiful wife, a gorgeous Manhattan penthouse and the hottest, up-and-coming new nightclub in New York.

His club, Truth, caters to the elite: the famous and infamous boldface names that run the city that never sleeps. As its success grows, so do Ghost’s plans to build an empire.

However, Truth hides an ugly reality. It’s a front for Ghost’s criminal underworld; a lucrative drug network, serving only the wealthy and powerful.

A week shy of its official television premiere, the pilot has been made available for free online through multiple platforms, including the show’s official website, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace page, as well as its YouTube channel.

The series premiere will also be available for sampling through the free STARZ PLAY app for all users in the United States.

Power also stars 50 Cent, Adam Huss, Vinicius Machado, Luis Antonio Ramos and Lela Loren.

Power will
 air Sundays at 9:00 pm ET on Starz.

The 34-year-old Afro-Puerto Rican actress, television personality and disc jockey has been cast in Starz’s drama series Power.

The television project tells the story of wealthy New York City nightclub owner James “Ghost” St. Patrick (portrayed by Omari Hardwick), who wants to build an empire and turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there’s just one problem: He’s living a double life.

When he’s not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele.

Anthony, the star of VH1′s reality series La La’s Full Court Life, will portray LaKeisha Grant – childhood friend to Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughto) and her closest confidant who is kept in the dark on certain aspects of Tasha’s life out of necessity.

Anthony’s recent credits include the films Think Like a Man and Baggage Claim.

Vidal’s “Being Mary Jane” Ordered to Series at BET

BET has ordered the original series Being Mary Jane, which stars the 47-year-old Puerto Rican actress, to series.

Being Mary Jane, which was originally picked up as a movie, comes from the producers of the award-winning, record breaking BET comedy The Game, Girlfriends and the movies  Jumping the Broom and Sparkle.

The series is a follow up to the release of the Being Mary Jane movie of the week slated to launch on BET this summer.

Being Mary Jane centers on Mary Jane Paul, a one-woman-show: a successful TV news anchor, and an entirely self-sufficient powerhouse who remains devoted to a family that doesn’t share her motivation.

Intense drama and unforgettable moments unfold as Mary Jane juggles her life, her relationships, her work, and commitments to her family.

Along with Vidal, the series stars Gabrielle Union, Omari Hardwick, Richard Roundtree, Richard Brooks, Aaron D. Spears and Margaret Avery.
