Becky G Offers First Look at Her “Blue Beetle” Character

The 26-year-old Mexican American singer, rapper and actress will officially be part of the cast of Blue Beetle, the upcoming superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle.

Becky GBecky G, born Rebbeca Marie Gomez, will voice the key role of Khaji-Da, an alien who controls the Scarab (an ancient relic of alien biotechnology), she revealed in a joint Instagram post with the film’s account.

“I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you guys that I am officially a part of the Blue Beetle familia,” she said in the short video. “I have the honor of playing the voice of Khaji-Da, who is an alien who decides to who she wants to give her superpowers, and when I say I could not be any more proud of what you guys are going to experience when watching this film, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

Produced by DC Studios and the Safran Company, and directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle stars a Latino-led cast including Xolo Maridueña portraying the lead character and its alter ego Jaime Reyes, Becky G, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon and George Lopez.

Known for Billboard hits such as “Mayores” with Bad Bunny, “Sin Pijama” with Natti Natasha, and “MAMIII” with Karol G, this marks one of Becky’s many efforts as an actress following her role as Trini Kwan (the yellow ranger) in Power Rangers (2017), Chloe in Gnome Alone (2017), Sara Reyes in A.X.L. (2018), and Apple in Good Mourning (2022).

Blue Beetle opens in theaters nationwide on August 18.

Becky G Launching First-Ever Headlining Tour, “Mi Casa, Tu Casa”

The 26-year-old Mexican American singer/actress will be heading out on her first-ever headlining tour.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment my entire career…I can’t wait to sing & dance with you guys, los quiero mucho mucho mucho y nos vemos pronto!”

The 16-date tour will run through the early fall, starting with a show September 14 at Roadrunner in Boston followed by stops in New York City, Atlanta, Orlando and more.

At the tail end of the month, Becky will spend consecutive nights across Texas by performing in Sugar Land, Grand Prairie, San Antonio and McAllen before playing El Paso’s Abraham Chavez Theatre.

After three dates through Southern California, the tour then caps off October 14 at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix.

Becky G is currently riding high with “Chanel,” her latest top 10 hit with collaborator Peso Pluma on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.

In April, the duo debuted the track live for the first time during her Coachella set, which also included a surprise appearance by Natti Natasha, and later performed the song together at the 2023 Latin AMAs.

Becky G In Talks to Star in Peacock’s Drama Series “Queen of Flow”

The streamer is developing drama series Queen of Flow, a premium adaptation of Caracol Television’s Colombian telenovelaLa Reina Del Flow, with the 26-year-old Mexican American singer and actress in early talks to lead the series.

Becky GJorge Reyes is attached to pen the script for the project, from Westbrook Studios and Universal Television.

Queen of Flow is a revenge tale/music drama about a young singer-songwriter named Yeimi — the role Becky G is in talks for — who rises to fame in the music world and finds a star-crossed love with the superstar scion of a powerful family. But on her rise to the top, dark secrets are discovered about both Yeimi and the family she’s made her own that set them on a collision course towards a reckoning that could destroy them all.

The premise is described as a “Count of Monte Cristo-esque tale set against the backdrop of Latin music.”

The series is a co-production between Westbrook Studios and UTV.

Reyes served as a writer/producer on the hit crime drama Queen Of The South for the USA network. He was also the creator/co-executive producer of the legal dramedy Kevin Hill, starring Taye Diggs and Christina Hendricks.

He began his writing career on Dick Wolf’s police drama New York Undercover, Aaron Spelling’s paramedic drama Rescue 77, and the Showtime original series Resurrection Blvd. Currently, Reyes is developing a Fat Joe project with Kenya Barris at Showtime.

Becky G’s previous acting credits include Power Rangers, Gnome Alone and Good Mourning.

Becky G to Receive Extraordinary Evolution Award at the Latin American Music Awards

Becky G is evolving as an artist… And, now she’ll have the hardware to prove it.

The 22-year-old bilingual Mexican American singer/rapper will be honored with the Extraordinary Evolution award during the fifth edition of the Latin American Music Awards, Telemundo has announced.

Becky G will also perform at the 2019 edition of the show.   

The Extraordinary Evolution award recognizes the success of a young performer who has demonstrated change and accelerated growth as an artist to reach the pinnacle of success in a short period of time. Last year, Colombian singer Maluma was the first recipient.

Becky G’s achievements include two No. 1 hits on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart (“Mayores” and “Sin Pijama”), a starring role in the movie Power Rangers, and many collaborations with superstars including PitbullDaddy Yankee, Maluma, AnittaNatti NatashaBad Bunny and CNCO.

Last year, Becky won two Latin AMAs (favorite female artist and favorite urban song for “Mayores”) and received YouTube’s Diamond Play Buttonfor surpassing 10 million followers on the digital platform.

Davi Santos to Star in “47 Meters Down – Uncaged”

The 28-year-old Brazilian actor will star in 47 Meters Down – Uncaged, the sequel to box office breakout 47 Meters Down.

Santos, best known for playing Sir Ivan, The Gold Rangeron the television series Power Rangers Dino Charge, joins a cast that includes Sophie Nélisse, John Corbett, Nia LongCorinne Foxx, Sistine Stallone, Brianne Tjuand Khylin Rhambo.

Principal photography is underway in the Dominican Republic with Byron Allen’s ESMP U.S. release in 3,500+ screens set for June 28, 2019. Johannes Roberts returns to direct the sequel from a script he co-wrote with his 47 Meters Down co-writer, Ernest Riera. Foxx and Stallone, the daughters of Jamie Foxxand Sylvester Stallone, respectively, will be making their film debuts.

The film will tell the story of four teens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their adventure turns to horror when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves. As they swim deeper into the claustrophobic labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.

The breakout original earned almost $60M globally off a $5.5M budget.

Becky G was handed a plaque for the feat at this year’s Calibash in Los Angeles — after earning another five million subscribers — her first ever YouTube button plaque.

The honor comes just as Becky G, who starred in last year’s Power Rangers film, celebrates crossing the 900 million view mark on Vevo for her Bad Bunny collaboration, “Mayores.”

The music video for the sultry songs ranks as her biggest to date, with its view count almost triple that of her second-most-watched video.

“Shower,” her No. 2 performer, has logged 323 million views.

Becky G to Take Part in Latinx Activism Panel at the Billboard Latin Music Conference

The 20-year-old Mexican American singer/actress, who recently made her big screen debut in the Power Rangers, will take center stage at the “Latinx Activism: Giving Voice To a New Social Rising” panel discussion at the annual Billboard Latin Music Conference.

The discussion, with Billboard‘s deputy editor Isabel Gonzalez-Whitaker as moderator, will take place on April 26 joining other star-studded panels taking place throughout the week.

The 20-year-old Mexican American singer-songwriter and Power Rangers’ Yellow Ranger, Frankie J and Kap-G have come together with their fans in the new lyric video for Play-N-SkillzEnglish remix of “Si una vez.”

The video is a mash-up of homemade videos sent in from fans singing the late Selena Quintanilla‘s iconic song.

Play-N-Skillz released the English remix with Becky G and Kap-G back in February, just weeks after releasing the Spanish version, featuring Leslie Grace and Wisin.

The two versions combined have collected nearly six million streams in the U.S. since its release, according to Nielsen Music.

To date, the song has also sold 24,000 downloads.

The new version of Becky G’s track dropped over the weekend in conjunction with the premiere of her big screen debut in the Power Rangers movie, in which she plays the Yellow Ranger Trini.

This is the first time the young superstars have teamed up for a track.

But as evidenced by a throwback video CNCO shared leading up to the remix’s release, the guys and Becky have formed a friendship outside of working together in the studio.

Just as she’s getting ready to walk down the aisle with the “perfect guy” that has her parents approval, Becky G meets someone else unexpectedly, and rethinks her marriage plans after magical dates with her possible new love.

“When I made this song, my life was going through a lovely turnaround,” Becky G said about the track, which will be featured in her upcoming Spanish album. “I was falling in love. I had decided to record my first album in Spanish. I was filming my first movie, and living on my own for the first time… Lots of things were happening for the first time! Everything was different, but in a good way, a way that helped me grow and inspired me to take control of my life as I never had before.”

Becky G will next appear on the big screen as the Yellow Ranger in the Power Rangers movie hitting theaters on March 24.
