J Balvin & Bad Bunny Tie Ozuna for Top Spot on YouTube’s Billion Views Club with ““Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola” Collab

It’s Lucky No. 13 for J Balvin and Bad Bunny

The 38-year-old Colombian urbano singer/songwriter and the 29-year-old Puerto Rican superstar have each notched their 13th video entry in YouTube’s Billion Views Club, according to the video platform.

J Balvin & Bad BunnyBalvin and Bad Bunny have now tied the record Ozuna previously held on his own.

All three reggaeton acts have become the artists with the most entries in the Billion Views Club as lead, featured artist or collaborator.

Balvin and Bad Bunny achieved the milestone with their 2017 collaborative effort “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola,” a tropical, groovy, trap fusion with cheeky lyrics that put Bad Bunny on the radar. The vibrant music video, filmed in the captivating landscapes of Puerto Rico, was uploaded to YouTube on March 3, 2017.

In 2022, J Balvin reclaimed his crown after his Black Eyed Peas-assisted “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” video entered the club. He broke the tie he had with Justin Bieber, who currently has 11 titles with more than a billion views.

Earlier this year, however, Ozuna nabbed the crown notching two new entries with “Síguelo Bailando” and “Diles.” The latter — a collaboration with Bad Bunny, Farruko, Árcangel and Ñengo Flow, also became Bad Bunny’s 12th entry in the Billion Views Club.

Ozuna’s next video to hit one billion views will likely be “El Farsante” (977 million views as of press time). Balvin’s next contender is “Say My Name” with David Guetta and Bebe Rexha (982 million views). Bad Bunny’s next potential clip to reach the milestone viewership number is his feature on Nacho and Yandel’s “Bailame Remix” (975 million views).

With the new entry into the Billion Views Club, Balvin is now at No. 37 on YouTube’s Global Top Artists chart, whereas Bad Bunny lands at No. 6.

Bad Bunny’s “Me Porto Bien,” with Chencho Corleone, Logs Milestone 20th Week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Bad Bunny is still behaving well… And, he’s earning a place in Latin music history.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” has logged a milestone 20th week at No. 1 on BillboardHot Latin Songs chart dated October 8, becoming the 12th song to spend at least 20 weeks atop the tally in its 36-year history.

Bad BunnyThe song’s 20th week at No. 1 benefits from 8 million U.S. audience impressions earned in the week ending Sept. 29 (up 18%), according to Luminate.

Meanwhile, though it dips 4% in streams to 12 million earned in the week ending September 29, it holds strong at No. 1 on the Latin Streaming Songs chart and moves 4-2 on the overall Streaming Songs chart.

On the sales front, “Me Porto Bonito” falls 14%, to 1,000 downloads sold, in the same tracking period.

As it drops 1-2 on Latin Digital Song Sales, it cedes the No. 1 spot to another one of Bad Bunny’s songs: “MIA,” featuring Drake — which last took over atop the chart for one week in October 2018.

As mentioned, “Me Porto Bonito” joins 11 other tracks that have held strong at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs for at least 20 weeks or more since the chart’s inception in 1986.

Here’s the leaderboard:

Weeks At No. 1, Title, Artist
56, “Despacito” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber
41, “Bailando,” Enrique Iglesias featuring Descemer Bueno & Gente de Zona
30, “El Perdón,” Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias
27, “Dakiti,” Bad Bunny & Jhay Cortez
26, “Pepas,” Farruko
25, “La Tortura,” Shakira featuring Alejandro Sanz
24, “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life),” Black Eyed Peas & J Balvin
22, “Ginza,” J Balvin
20, “Me Porto Bonito,” Bad Bunny & Chencho Corleone
20, “Te Quiero, Flex”
20, “Me Enamora,” Juanes
20, “A Puro Dolor,” Son By Four

Further, Bad Bunny is the third act to have two different songs spend at least 20 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs (he previously notched 27 weeks at No. 1 with “Dakiti,” with Jhay Cortez). Both Enrique Iglesias and J Balvin have also logged a pair of 20-week No. 1s. Iglesias did it with “Bailando” (41 in 2014-15, featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona) and “El Perdon” (30 in 2015, with Nicky Jam), while J Balvin ruled with “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life)” (24, 2020; with Black Eyed Peas) and “Ginza” (22, 2015).

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, has the most weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs, with 56 weeks in 2017-18.

Elsewhere, “Me Porto Bonito” rebounds to No. 4 on Latin Airplay for a second week (7-4). The track led the all-genre tally for one week on the Aug. 20-dated ranking.

J Balvin Reclaims Crown as Artist with Most Videos in YouTube’s Billion Views Club

J Balvin is YouTube’s ’s Billion baller…

The 37-year-old Colombian singer’s “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” music video in collaboration with Black Eyed Peas has surpassed 1 billion views, officially making him the artist with the most videos in YouTube’s Billion Views Club once again, according to the video platform.

J Balvin“Ritmo,” which was released on October 11, 2019, on YouTube, marks Balvin’s 12th entry as a lead, featured artist or collaborator. Prior to reclaiming the crown this week, Balvin was tied with Justin Bieber with 11 music videos each with a billion views.

In 2016, he became the first Latin urban artist to reach 10 digits with a video on the platform with “Ay Vamos.” He was only the third Latin artist to reach a billion views, following Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando,” featuring Gente de Zona and Descemer Bueno, and Romeo Santos’ “Propuesta Indecente,” both in 2014.

Balvin also has one of the top five fastest videos to reach the billion-view mark with “Mi Gente,” surpassing the number in 103 days.

“Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” samples Corona’s ’90s hit “Rhythm of the Night,” fusing hip-hop and pop with Balvin’s incendiary and infectious take on reggaeton.

The track topped the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Hot Latin Songs

charts in 2020, becoming the Peas’ first leader on each ranking and Balvin’s first on the dance chart.

The video, which shows scenes from the Bad Boys for Life movie, now joins the Willy William-assisted “Mi Gente”; “X (Equis)” with Nicky Jam; “Con Altura” with Rosalia; “China” alongside Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, Karol G, and Ozuna; “No Me Conoce (Remix)” with Jhayco and Bad Bunny; “Ay Vamos”; “I Like It” with Cardi B and Bad Bunny; “Ahora Dice” with Chris Jedi, Ozuna, and Arcangel; the Farruko-assisted “6AM”; and “Safari” featuring Pharrell Williams, BIA, and Sky in the billion-views club.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards, given in 56 categories, honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music as determined by Billboard’s renowned weekly charts, during the period rom the rankings dated February 1, 2020, through this year’s August 7, 2021, charts, a longer than usual period due to the pandemic.

The evening was punctuated by a slew of special moments. In turn, Yankee performed the television premiere of his new single, “Métele al Perreo.”

Rock legends Maná received the new Billboard Icon award, and premiered their new single, “Reloj Cucú,” alongside newcomer Mabel.

J Balvin Releases New Single “Que Locura” & Announces New Album “José”

J Balvin is unleashing the madness

The 36-year-old Colombian singer has released his new single “Que Locura,” which he launched with an accompanying music video.

J Balvin

J Balvin, whose real name José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, also revealed that he will release his fifth studio album, Joséon Sept. 10.

José will be the follow-up project to 2020’s Colores, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart and won the Latin Grammy for best urban album.

Balvin recently spoke to Billboard about how his Miller Lite campaign, titled “Es José Time,” which embraces his namesake and who he really is behind his onstage persona.

“I’m really getting to know me, because I’ve been so caught up on J Balvin that I started to forget about José,” he said. “That’s what I love about this campaign. It’s showing my human side, chilling with my friends and being a normal guy.”

J Balvin is a finalist for the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards with nine nods, including artist of the year, songwriter of the year and hot Latin song of the year for “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” with the Black Eyed Peas.

Bad Bunny Leads Pack of Billboard Latin Music Awards Finalists with 22 Nominations

Bad Bunny is celebrating a banner year…

The 27-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton superstar leads the list of finalists for the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards – with a bullet!

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny earned a whopping 22 nods in 13 categories, including artist of the year, songwriter of the year, Hot Latin Songs artist of the year, top Latin rhythm album and top Latin album of the year — with three of his releases up for awards.

It’s a stellar showing that caps an incredible year for Bad Bunny, who was able to place three albums — El Último Tour del Mundo, YHLQMDLG and Las Que No Iban a Salir — atop the Billboard charts during the eligibility period for the awards (Feb. 1, 2020, through the Aug. 7, 2021, charts).

Following Bad Bunny in the double digits is Maluma with 11 nods, including artist of the year and Hot Latin Songs artist of the year, with his global hit “Hawái” up for six awards, including airplay song of the year and Hot Latin Song of the year.

Other multi-finalists include J Balvin with nine nods, and Karol GAnuel AA and Black Eyed Peas with eight each.

Finalists and winners will be honored at the annual Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will broadcast live on Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Miami on Thursday, Sept. 23, and which will cover 59 categories across the major music genres of Latin pop, tropical, Latin rhythm and regional Mexican.

Balvin and Anuel AA are both up for artist of the year in a category that also includes fellow reggaetón star Ozuna, who is up for seven awards. Balvin also garnered four nods for “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life),” the blockbuster track with Black Eyed Peas, who are also four-time finalists with “Ritmo.”

Fellow Colombian Karol G is a four-time finalist for her smash “Tusa” (with Nicki Minaj), while Anuel is up for Hot Latin Songs artist of the year and Top Latin Albums artist of the year, primarily on the strength of his sophomore album, Emmanuel.

But while urban music continued to drive the beat of Latin music, regional Mexican music wasn’t far behind, thanks to a new crop of acts who are revamping the genre’s sound and branding.

Leading the way is the group Eslabon Armado with seven nods that include three of their albums: Corta Venas, Tu Veneno Mortal and Vibras de Noche. They’re followed by Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga with four nods, including song of the year for “Que Maldición,” and Los Dos Carnales, who are up for three awards, including regional Mexican song of the year, where they compete against themselves with “El Envidioso” and “Cabrón y Vago.”

Beyond the growing strength of regional Mexican, another highly visible trend in this year’s list of finalists is mainstream music’s growing interest in Latin acts. The leaders of the pack are the Black Eyed Peas, whose album Translation featured mostly Latin acts, and which has two tracks, “Mamacita” and “Ritmo,” up for awards in addition to the Peas’ nod in the crossover artist of the year category. In addition, The Weeknd has seven nods on the strength of “Hawái,” his collaboration with Maluma; Minaj has six on the strength of “Tusa” alongside Karol G; and Snoop Dogg is a finalist for regional Mexican song of the year for “Que Maldición,” his collaboration with Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards were not immune to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligibility for the awards, whose finalists and eventual winners are based exclusively on performance on the Billboard charts, was extended from its usual one-year period to 18 months (from the rankings dated Feb. 1, 2020, through the Aug. 7, 2021, charts), as the 2020 awards were delayed by the pandemic.

And this year, given the pause in touring of the past 18 months, there is no touring category.

But there is a live awards show that will be broadcast once again on the Telemundo network at 8:00 pm ET and preceded by the red carpet one-hour preshow “La Alfombra de Premios Billboard.” The music special will also broadcast simultaneously on Spanish entertainment cable network Universo and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

Bad Bunny comes in at No. 3 on the Top 10 International Male Artists, while the 26-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton star also ranks No. 3 on the Top 10 International Male Artists list.

Anitta ranks as the top Latina artist on Deezer’s year-end lists…

The 27-year-old Brazilian singer/songwriter comes in at No. 7 on the Top 10 international artists list and at No. 4 on the Top 10 International Female Artists chart.

Karol G, who comes in at No. 10 on the Top 10 International Female Artists chart, has the highest-ranking Spanish track on the charts.

The Colombian singer-songwriter’s chart-topping collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “Tusa,” comes in at No. 5 on the Top 10 International Tracks chart.

Other Latin artists making an appearance on one of the Deezer lists… Ozuna and Daddy Yankee.

“This is the year of home confinement and social distancing,” said Frédéric Antelme, Deezer’s VP of content and productions. “Streaming helped many people cope and it may be telling that the Top 10 tracks this year are all international, dancey, and positive.

“We also saw some interesting trends, with 40% of our top 20 international albums made by black artists, compared to a quarter the year before. And our top 10 streamed international acts were equally split between genders this year. Music has always reflected the underlying dynamics of our society and 2020 is no different. I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings.”

J Balvin’s Collaboration with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tainy, “Un Día (One Day),” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

It’s a perfect Day for J Balvin

The 35-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer’s bilingual collaboration with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Tainy, “Un Día (One Day),” surges to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs survey dated August 8.

J Balvin

The track, released July 24, dethrones another bilingual collaboration, ending the Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna and J.Rey Soul’s three-week reign with “Mamacita.”

“I’m so thankful and blessed for the early reaction to ‘Un Día’ and its arrival on the charts,” said J Balvin. “It’s one we’ve been talking about for a while now, so I’m happy it’s out in the world for everyone to enjoy. Much Love to Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and Tainy for being a part of this special moment with me. Stay tuned for more fire coming soon!”

“Un Día” is Dua Lipa’s first Hot Latin Songs entry and first No. 1 on any Billboard Latin chart. Her foray into the Latin charts began in January 2018 as all-English language track “New Rules” opened at No. 40 on the Latin Pop Airplay list.

The new song isn’t available on her current album Future Nostalgia, which arrived at No. 4 on the overall Billboard 200 chart (April 11-dated tally).

“Un Día” was produced by Tainy and arrived with a music video directed by Colombian Stillz, which features Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó (Netflix’s Money Heist).

The song’s coronation on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, streams and digital sales, is mainly attributed to streaming activity and airplay. It earned 10 million U.S. clicks in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 1 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs list and a No. 45 arrival on the overall Streaming Songs chart.

“Un Día” concurrently opens at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart and at No. 49 on the overall Digital Song Sales chart supported by its 4,000 downloads logged in its first tracking week.

J Balvin, meanwhile, posts an eighth No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs. “Un Día,” however, earns him his first No. 1 debut.

With the song’s arrival atop the list, J Balvin places three songs in the top 10: “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life),” with Black Eyed Peas at No. 3 and “Agua,” with Tainy which rises 11-7. The latter is featured on The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run soundtrack.

“Un Día” is just the second song to arrive at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs in 2020. It follows Bad Bunny’s “Si Veo a Tu Mamá” (March 14-dated survey). While he secures his sixth No. 1, producer and songwriter Tainy claims his first.

Beyond its Hot Latin Songs chart-topping arrival, “Un Día” bows at No. 24 on Latin Airplay, No. 13 on Latin Rhythm Airplay and No. 17 on Latin Pop Airplay.
