Sarah Shahi Starring in the Indie Drama “Language Arts”

Sarah Shahi is embracing a new language

The 38-year-old half-Spanish American actress, who is currently starring in NBC’s Reverie, will star as the lead in the indie drama Language Arts.

Directed by Corneli Moore and produced by Larry EstesLanguage Arts follows Allison Forche-Marlow (Shahi), a beautiful, bright, determined, and organized, who never gives up trying to heal her autistic son, whom she fiercely loves, no matter what it demands of everyone.

Shahi, a former NFL cheerleader, previously starred on the television shows Fairly Legal, The L Word, Life and Alias.

Beals to Star in TNT’s Supernatural Medical Drama Pilot “Proof”

It’s a case of science vs. religion for Jennifer Beals

The 50-year-old part-Puerto Rican actress has landed the lead role in TNT’s pilot Proof.

The supernatural medical drama, which is being executive produced by The Closer alum Kyra Sedgwick, will be written by Rob Bragin and directed by Alex Graves.

Proof centers on Dr. Kathryn Russo (portrayed by Beals), a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter.

She’s persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

Beals, best known for portraying Alexandra “Alex” Owens in the 1983 film Flashdance, previously starred in Fox’s Chicago Code. She also co-created and is executive producing Laughs Unlimited, starring Melonie Diaz, which is currently in development at HBO.

Beals’ previous television credits include appearances on The L Word, Lie to Me, Castle and The Mob Doctor.

Shahi to Host “Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2014” Special

The 34-year-old half-Spanish actress will co-host Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2014 with CBS sports analyst Boomer Esiason.

The special is an interactive countdown special where viewers will be able to vote LIVE on CBS.com for their favorite Super Bowl Commercials.

Beginning today, viewers will get to vote for their favorite Super Bowl commercials from 10 categories (Office, User-Generated, Sexy, Beer, Crazy, Kids, Celebrity, Car, Animal and Soft Drink) and they will go head-to-head on www.cbs.com/superbowl/commercials/, where fans will be able to vote to determine the top three Super Bowl commercials.  Those top three will advance to the live vote during the broadcast, when viewers will decide the outcome and the winner will be revealed at the end of the show.

Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2014 will air on Wednesday, January 29 at 8:00 pm ET on CBS.

The winner will be revealed at the end of the show.

Shahi currently stars on CBS’ Person of Interest. The former NFL cheerleader’s other roles include Fairly Legal, The L Word, Alias and Chicago Fire.

Beals to Star in ABC’s “Venice” Pilot…

Jennifer Beals is preparing to star in a Romeo & Juliet-like project…

The 49-year-old part-Puerto Rican actress has been cast as the lead in ABC’s drama pilot Venice.

The drama pilot, written by Byron Balasco, is a sudsy-type project about the haves and the have-nots in California’s most seductive city, Venice. It centers on two rival families and a forbidden and dangerous romance that emerges between them as the families battle for control of the beach city.

Beals will portray Lisa Carver, the elegant bohemian matriarch of the Carver family, one of the two feuding clans.

McG will be directing the pilot from Warner Bros. Television and his Wonderland Sound and Vision studio, which he’ll executive produce as well.

Beals, who rose to acclaim in 1993’s Flashdance and starred in Showtime’s The L Word, most recently appeared on television in The Mob Doctor, Castle and Lie to Me.

Shahi to Guest Star on NBC’s “Chicago Fire”

Sarah Shahi is about to heat things up on NBC’s Chicago Fire

The 32-year-old half-Spanish actress has signed on to appear in at least five episodes of the Dick Wolf-produced drama.

Shahi will guest star as Renee, a love interest for firefighter Kelly Severeid (played by Taylor Kinney). She’s already started shooting the role, and although there’s no airdate yet, viewers could possibly see her on screen by the end of the year.

For the last two seasons, Shahi has played mediator Kate Reed on USA’s Fairly Legal.

Shahi, who was recently named “TV’s sexiest star” by Maxim magazine, has also been seen in The L Word and Life.

She’s a former member of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and Miss Fort Worth USA.
