Daniella Pineda to Star in AMC’s “Tales of the Walking Dead”

The 34-year-old Mexican American actress will star in AMC‘s anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.

Details on the characters each will play in the series are being kept under wraps.

The six-episode episodic anthology series will feature both new and established characters from The Walking Dead universe.

Tales of the Walking Dead is scheduled to debut this summer on AMC and AMC Plus.

The show was first announced as being in development in September 2020 and ordered to series in October 2021. In an interview with Variety in 2020, then-AMC COO Ed Carroll said that “Tales” would serve as a “test kitchen” of sorts, meaning that if a particular episode is well received, it could lead to another spinoff.

Pineda most recently starred in the Netflix live-action remake of Cowboy Bebop in the role of Faye Valentine.

Her other television roles include What/If, The Detour, and The Originals.

In film, she appeared in the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and will reprise her role as Zia Rodriguez in the upcoming sequel Jurassic World Dominion. That film will debut in theaters on June 10.

She has also wrapped production on the feature The Plane starring Gerard Butler and Mike Colter for Lionsgate and Di Bonaventura Pictures.

The Latina actress has landed a recurring role on HBO Max’s Lena Dunham-produced half-hour dramedy Generation.

Zumbado appears on a roster of newcomers to the cast that includes Alicia Coppola and Marwan Salama.

Created by Zelda Barnz and her father Daniel Barnz, who also directs, Generation is a dark yet playful half-hour following a group of high school students whose exploration of modern sexuality (devices and all) tests deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love and the nature of family in their conservative community.

Zumbado is Lucia, a young junior who is confident, bold and queer and loves to shake things up.

Coppola plays Carol, the mother of Riley (Chase Sui Wonders) who is terribly uncool, painfully suburban and obsessed with meddling in Riley’s business.

Salama portrays Bo, an under-the-radar high school junior who is direct, utterly unself-conscious and refreshingly comfortable in his own skin.

They join an ensemble cast that includes Nathanya Alexander, Chloe East, Nava Mau, Lukita Maxwell, Haley Sanchez, Uly Schlesinger and Sam Trammell with Justice Smith and Martha Plimpton.

Zumbado will next be seen on Netflix’s On the Verge. She has recurred in Showtime’s The Affair, CW’s The Originals, Cinemax’s Banshee, and recently guest starred in Fox’s Lethal Weapon and Deputy as well as Amazon’s Goliath.

Michael Trevino to Star in the CW’s “Roswell” Reboot

The 33-year-old Mexican-American actor has landed a role in the CW’s untitled Roswell pilot that acts as a reboot of the cult sci-fi series.

Trevino joins a cast that includes Jeanine MasonNathan Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn and Heather Hemmens.

The project hails from Amblin Television, Bender Brown Prods, Warner Bros. TelevisionJulie Plec and Carina MacKenzie.

Trevino, who played Tyler Lockwood on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries for eight seasons, reunites with Plec on the Roswell reboot, which was written by The Originals scribe MacKenzie.

Plec, who is directing the pilot, co-created Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals.

The reimagined Roswell — like the original WB/UPN series based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz — has an immigration twist, reflecting the realities of its location in a state bordering Mexico. After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Trevino will play Kyle Valenti, the popular son of the town sheriff who questions his carefree outlook on life after learning the terrifying truth of his family’s legacy.

Trevino will next star in the feature film Out of Control.

TBS to Premiere Second Season of Pineda’s “The Detour” in February

TBS has scheduled the Season 2 premiere of its hit comedy series The Detour, featuring the 29-year-old Latina actress, for Monday, February 21 at 10:00 pm ET.

The second season of The Detour is executive-produced by Jones, Bee, Brennan Shroff and Tony Hernandez.

The 28-year-old Mexican American actress has been cast as a series regular in TBS comedy, The Detour.

Created by Jason Jones and Samantha Beethe series is inspired by Jones and Bee’s own experiences with family getaways.

It follows a couple and their two young kids as they take a road trip to Florida. Jones plays unfiltered dad Nate, who packs his wife, Robin (Natalie Zea), along with their rebellious daughter Delilah (Ashley Gerasimovich) and simpleton son Jared (Liam Carroll), into the family car for what Nate is convinced will be the adventure of a lifetime. Every leg of their trip, however, is fraught with unforeseen disaster as they encounter one hellish turn after another.

Pineda, who starred in The Originals and American Odyssey, will play Vanessa, Robin’s obliviously distasteful sister.

Pineda’s other television credits include Men of a Certain Age and Homeland.

The CW Renews Pineda’s “The Originals” for a Second Season

The network has given an early renewal to its strongest series, including the freshmen drama The Originals, which stars the 26-year-old Mexican-American actress.

After a somewhat discouraging start behind its mothership series The Vampire Diaries, The Originals has flourished in the Tuesday 8:00 pm slot despite gloom and doom predictions about its face-off with ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Its potent pairing with Supernatural has doubled the CW’s Tuesday night ratings year-to-year in adults 18-34 (+100%, 1.4 vs. 0.7), grown +150% in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 0.6), and gained +88% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 1.7 million).

Pineda portrays Sophie, a witch whose magic has been silenced but not killed. A leader and a sexy, sharp-tongued social force, she is quietly sowing the seeds of a revolution amongst her peers.

The Mexican-American actress will be starring in next week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, which will actually serve as the pilot for The Originals, a spinoff of the CW’s hit supernatural series.

The CW aired the pilot’s extended trailer, featuring Pineda as a witch whose magic has been silenced but not killed, after the show’s episode this week.

Airing April 25, The Originals sends Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago. He’s soon reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Elijah (Daniel Gillies), intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.

Phoebe Tonkin and Claire Holt reprise their roles, while Pineda, Danielle Campbell, and Leah Pipes join as new additions.

In the minute-long promo, we see how the story leaves Mystic Falls — with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) finding out Klaus skipped town — and follows Klaus as he reunites with his old friends.

When he reunites with Marcel, Klaus sees how different things have become and how powerful his mentee is. “Loyalty. Family. I want what he has,” Klaus says. “I want it back. I want to be king!”
