Armisen to Present at This Year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Fred Armisen is about to get creative

The 47-year-old half-Venezuelan American actor and former Saturday Night Live star, who received his first-ever Emmy nomination in an acting category this year, will be among the presenters at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on August 16, according to the show’s executive producer Spike Jones Jr.

Armisen, who earneda best supporting actor in a comedy nod for Portlandia, the IFC series filmed and set in Portland, joins a list of presenters that includes Jane Lynch, Morgan Freeman, Tony Goldwyn, Heidi Klum and much of the nominated cast of Orange Is the New Black.

Other presenters include Patrick Adams (Suits), Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad), Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), Judy Greer (Archer), Jonathan Groff (The Normal Heart), Tim Gunn (Project Runway), Tony Hale (Veep), Allison Janney (MomMasters of Sex), Keegan Michael Key (Key and Peele), Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Joel McHale (The Soup; Community), Aisha Tyler (Archer), Matt Walsh (Veep), Matt Weiner (Mad Men) and Bellamy Young (Scandal).

This year’s awards show will take place a week and a day before the Primetime Emmy Awards. An edited version of the show will be broadcast on the FXM cable network.

The entire show will be streamed on Emmys.com from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday Aug. 25, just before the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Alejandro to Star in the A&E Drama Series “The Returned”

Kevin Alejandro is returning to television once again…

The 38-year-old Mexican American actor will star opposite Mark Pellegrino in Carlton Cuse’s 10-episode A&E drama series The Returned.

Directed by Keith Gordon. The Returned, from A+E Studios and FremantleMedia, focuses on a small town that’s turned upside down when several local people who’ve long been presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences.

Alejandro will play the town’s authoritative but accessible Sheriff Tommy Moran.

Alejandro is best known for his roles on the crime drama Southlandand HBO’s supernatural thriller True Blood. Most recently he had a recurring role on CW‘s Arrow.

Alejandro to Co-Star in the ABC Drama Pilot “Clementine”

The 37-year-old Mexican-American actor has landed a plum role on ABC’s drama pilot Clementine.

From the Mark Gordon Co. and ABC Studios, the project centers on troubled 28-year-old psychic Clementine Ross (portrayed by Sarah Snook) who sees her life begin to change in unexpected ways when she decides to stop running from her past.

Alejandro will co-star as Charlie Madsen, Clementine’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her young daughter, Lucy. He’s described as a former bad-boy who has transformed into a responsible man after realizing he has to raise Lucy on his own due to Clementine’s personal struggles.

Most recently, Alejandro has been appearing in a recurring role on the CW’s Arrow. He previously co-starred on CBS’ short-lived series Golden Boy.

His other television credits include roles on Southland, True Blood, Weeds, Drop Dead Diva and Sons of Anarchy.

Gonzalez Cast in Recurring Role on Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow”

The 37-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to appear in a recurring role on Fox’s new drama Sleepy Hollow, created by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The series follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil.

Gonzalez, who recently signed on to appear on Lifetime’s Witches of East End, will recur as Luke, Abbie’s (portrayed Nicole Beharie) ex-boyfriend who works for the Sleepy Hollow Police Department.

Gonzalez is best known for playing Alex Santiago on Showtime’s boxing drama series Resurrection Blvd. His other television credits include appearances on The Glades, Off the Map, Melrose Place, CSI: Miami and True Blood.

 

Alejandro Lands Guest-Starring Role on the CW’s “Arrow”

The 37-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to guest star on the CW’s superhero series Arrow.

Alejandro will appear as Sebastian Blood in upcoming episodes of the acclaimed action drama’s second season, with the exact airdates to be announced in the near future.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic New Teen Titans nemesis Brother Blood, Sebastian is an alderman who rises to power in the wake of the earthquake that devastated Starling City in Arrow’s first-season finale. Blood’s “man-of-the-people” popularity instantly places him at odds with Oliver Queen (series star Stephen Amell), whose family he blames for the quake.

Alejandro’s television credits include roles on Ugly Betty, Southland, True Blood and Golden Boy.

Season two of Arrow is set to premiere on October 9.

Based upon characters published by DC Comics, Arrow is executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

Cuesta’s “Kill the Messenger” ThisClose to Landing its Female Lead

Michael Cuesta may have found his leading lady…

Rosemarie DeWitt is in final talks to take on the female lead role in Kill the Messenger, which will be directed by the 49-year-old Latino film and television director.

Kill the Messenger is a true-story thriller about journalist Gary Webb, a San Jose Mercury News reporter who committed suicide after being the target of a smear campaign when he linked the CIA to a scheme to arm Contra rebels in Nicaragua and import cocaine into California.

Jeremy Renner will play Webb, which will be released worldwide by Focus Features.

Along with serving as an executive producer on Blue Bloods and Dexter, Cuesta has also directed episodes of series like Homeland, True Blood and Six Feet Under.

His film credits include L.I.E., 12 and Holding and Roadie.

CBS Posts First Episode of Alejandro’s “Golden Boy” Online

If you’re anxious to catch a glimpse of Kevin Alejandro in CBS’ midseason series Golden Boy, you’re in luck.

Even though the cop drama doesn’t premiere until February 26, the network has posted the entire first episode of the cop drama online on the CBS website

Golden Boy chronicles one man’s meteoric rise from police officer to detective and eventually police commissioner.  Alejandro, who most recently starred on HBO’s True Blood, will play the top detective in the squad who—disturbed by the new man’s arrival—plots to derail his career.

In addition to the 36-year-old Mexican American actor and former Southland star, Golden Boy will feature Odette Annable in a recurring role. The 27-year-old half-Cuban American actress will portray a young, attractive assistant district attorney with a complicated marital history who prosecutes cases brought by the squad.

Golden Boy officially premieres on Tuesday, February 26 at 10:00 pm EST. It’s scheduled to move to Fridays at 9:00 pm EST once CSI:NY ends its season.

Garcia’s “Once Upon a Time” Appearance Scheduled for This Week

The 39-year-old half-Cuban/half-Chilean American actor/comedian and former Lost fan-favorite will appear on ABC’s hit fairy-tale drama as the giant from the Jack and the Beanstalk folktale, as previously reported this summer.

In the episode, Emma and Mary Margaret/Snow—in their attempt to find their way back to Storybrooke—must embark on a heist with a not-so-trustworthy Captain Hook.

According to the nefarious pirate, Emma and Mary Margaret must find a magical compass located up a treacherous beanstalk. But climbing the sky-high beanstalk isn’t the only challenge they’ll encounter since the have to steal the compass from a murderous giant, portrayed by Garcia, who last appeared on television on Fox’s short-lived Alcatraz series last season.

Meanwhile, in flashbacks, viewers will see Emma’s first meeting with a fellow thief who wants to make an honest woman out of her. While it’s unclear who’ll portray the fellow thief, recently released photos from the episode feature Emma in a car with a mysterious man (portrayed by True Blood’s Michael Raymond-James), who may possibly be Henry’s father.

Entitled “Tallahassee”, the new episode will air on Sunday, November 4 8:00 pm ET on ABC.

Gonzalez to Star on Lifetime’s “Witches of East End” Pilot

The 36-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to serve as a series regular on the Lifetime pilot Witches of East End.

The new series stars Julia Ormond as a mom who has been hiding a shocking secret from her daughters Ingrid and Freya — that her girls are witches.

Gonzalez will portray Matthew, a good-natured local cop who is dating a ditzy co-worker of Ingrid’s (Rachel Boston) but is more interested in dating Ingrid. He soon becomes super busy at work when a series of murders and strange deaths bedevil his previously placid township.

Gonzalez next appears in the Lifetime/Sony movie Left To Die, starring opposite Rachael Leigh Cook. He’s previously appeared on CSI: Miami, True Blood, Ghost Whisperer and Melrose Place.

Alejandro Cast in CBS Police Drama Pilot…

He may not be returning to HBO’s True Blood… But Kevin Alejandro could be back on television in the near future.

The 35-year-old Mexican American actor, best known for his role as Jesus Velasquez on True Blood, has been cast in an untitled CBS drama pilot, which chronicles one man’s meteoric rise from police officer to detective and eventually police commissioner.

Alejandro will play the top detective in the squad who—disturbed by the new man’s arrival—plots to derail his career.

The San Antonio, Texas-native most recently appeared as Nate Moretta on TNT’s Southland, as well as guest-starred on Fox’s Bones.
