Yahritza y Su Esencia Releases New Single “Cambiaste”

Yahritza y Su Esencia are noticing a change

The Mexican American family trio has released the new single “Cambiaste” via Lumbre Music and Columbia Records.

Yahritza y Su EsenciaWeeping requintos and a soulful, yearning voice bring the new single to life.

Written by the 16-year-old vocalist, Yahritza Martinez, the heartfelt sierreño narrates the story of a person who’s juggling their emotions in a relationship and has the other person confused.

“Out of nowhere, you changed/ One day you say you love me and the next, you throw me to the trash as if I were no one/ What happened to those days that you told me/ ‘I love you, I’ll always be by your side’?” she chants.

The music video finds the three siblings navigating Lake Xochimilco in Mexico.

Yahritza y Su Esencia Sign Label Deal with Columbia Records

Yahritza y Su Esencia has a new deal…

The Mexican American group, comprised of 15-year singer-songwriter Yahritza Martinez and her brothers Armando (guitar) and Jairo (bass), has signed a label deal with Columbia Records.

Yahritza Martinez, Yahritza y Su Esencia,The deal is a partnership between Columbia, Sony Music Latin and the trio’s regional Mexican indie label Lumbre Music, who first signed the band in February.

The sierreño band is currently managed by their older sister, Adriana Martinez.

In April, Yahritza y Su Esencia made chart history with their heartbreak track “Soy El Unico” as the youngest Latin performer to enter the Billboard Hot 100 debuting at No. 20. Since then, major Latin and mainstream record labels had expressed interest in signing the regional Mexican act.

“Lumbre is really happy to partner with Columbia Records for Yaritza y Su Esencia. It speaks volumes for an American-Mexican indie label like us to work hand in hand with a major label,” says Ramon Ruiz, CEO of Lumbre Music. “We have been working hard to develop and really get the kids’ music out to the masses and we have done some great work with them, including their first diamond certification, but are so excited to take them to the next level. We are all so passionate about this project it was important that whoever came into the project felt that same passion, and both the artists and Lumbre felt that with Columbia from the get-go. It felt like the right choice. Great things are coming for Yahritza Y Su Esencia!”

Yahritza y Su Esencia, up for best new artist at the 2022 Latin Grammys, broke out on TikTok earlier this year after they uploaded covers and quickly created a zealous fan base.

In March, after being discovered by Lumbre Music on the platform’s For You Page, they released their first single, “Soy El Único,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.

Since, they scored their first No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart with their debut album, Obsessed, released in May.

Elsewhere, the five-track set debuted at No. 7 on Top Latin Albums, and it also entered the all-genre Billboard 200 at No. 173.

Yahritza y Su Esencia added in a statement: “We are so excited to be working now with not only Lumbre but also a big label like Columbia! For us it’s just another step forward in accomplishing our dreams. We still have to go to school, but we are working hard on recording new music for our fans that we love so much and who helped get us to where we are today. We are very grateful to our entire team for all their support, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Yahritza y Su Esencia Team Up with Ivan Cornejo to Release Heartbreak Track “Inseparables”

Yahritza y Su Esencia have teamed up with another up-and-coming Regional Mexican act.

The record-breaking family trio, led by Yahritza Martinez, have joined voices with Ivan Cornejo to release the single “Inseparables.”

Yahritza Martinez, Yahritza y Su Esencia,For their first collaboration with fellow sierreño artist, Yahritza y Su Esencia released aa powerful heartbreak track.

Powered by the subgenre’s signature requintos and acoustic guitars, the focus point of the song is the teens’ tender vocals and the way they intersect for an explosive pathos-filled delivery.

Penned by both Yahritza and Cornejo, their coming together only strengthens Mexican music’s new movement — where young Mexican-American artists are placing all bets on heartfelt lyrics to connect with their equally emotional and bruised teen fans.

Grupo Frontera Appears on Billboard Hot 100 for First Time with Cover of Morat’s “No Se Va”

Grupo Frontera has joined an elite club…

Five weeks ago, the Latino group appeared on a Billboard chart for the first time, Now the act is officially a Billboard Hot 100 hitmaker with its cover of Morat’s “No Se Va.”

Grupo FronteraThe song, which the group released independently, debuts at No. 99 with 4.8 million U.S. streams (up 43%) and 1,000 downloads sold (up 278%) in the September 23-29 tracking week, according to Luminate.

It concurrently jumps 28-15 on Hot Latin Songs and 18-3 on Latin Digital Song Sales and debuts at No. 15 on Latin Streaming Songs.

Helping the song’s surge in popularity, a snippet of it has been used in more than 130,000 clips on TikTok.

Colombian folk-pop group Morat released its initial recording of the song in 2019, although the track has not appeared on any Billboard charts. The group has earned one Hot Latin Songs hit: “Sé Que Te Duele,” with Alejandro Fernandez (No. 49 peak, 2017).

“No Se Va” became Grupo Frontera’s first Billboard chart entry when it debuted at No. 12 on the Regional Mexican Digital Song Sales survey dated September 3; the song spends a second week at No. 1 on the latest list.

The song also helps the group rise 49-24 on the Emerging Artists chart.

Notably, “No Se Va” is just the fifth Regional Mexican song to reach the Hot 100 in the chart’s 64-year history, a distinction that began with Christian Nodal and Gera MX’s “Botella Tras Botella” in May 2021 (peaking at No. 60). Ivan Cornejo’s “Está Dañada” became the second regional Mexican song to reach the Hot 100 last October (No. 61), followed by Grupo Firme’s “Ya Superame (En Vivo Desde Culiacan, Sinaloa)” in November (No. 91) and Yahritza y Su Esencia’s “Soy El Unico” this April (No. 20).

Grupo Frontera comprises six members: Beto, Juan Javier Cantu, Carlos Frontera, Payo, Julian Pena Jr. and Carlos Zamora.

Grupo Firme to Take Part in ‘Superstar Panel’ During Billboard Latin Music Week

Grupo Firme will be taking part in this year’s Billboard Latin Music Week.

The Regional Mexican band will take part in one of the various superstar panels during the event, which will take place on September 26-30 at Miami’s Faena Forum.

Grupo FirmeFounded by Eduin Caz in Tijuana, Mexico, in 2013, Grupo Firme — which straddles the genres of banda and norteño — is comprised of Eduin’s brother Jhonny Caz, Abraham Hernández, Joaquín Ruiz, Christian Gutiérrez, José Rubio and Dylan Camacho.

Touring titans, in 2021, the band secured a historic booking at Los Angeles’ 20,000-capacity Staples Center as the first Latin act to perform the most shows in a single calendar year at the venue with seven sold-out concerts this summer. (The only other artist who has done more in one year is Adele, with eight performances in 2016.)

Grupo Firme joins the already announced star-studded lineup that includes Romeo SantosCamiloChayanneIvy QueenNicky JamEslabon ArmadoBizarrapBlessdYahritza Y Su EsenciaLuis R. ConriquezOvy on the Drums, Kunno, and The Rivera Family.

More participants will be announced in the weeks leading up to the 2022 Latin Music Week. Registration is now open at BillboardLatinMusicWeek.com.

For 30 years, Billboard Latin Music Week has been the longest running and biggest Latin music industry gathering in the world. After a sold-out 2021 edition that featured Q&As with Daddy Yankee and Karol G, as well as show-stopping performances by AnittaRauw Alejandro, and Natti Natasha, the event returns, coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Month.

Billboard Latin Music Week will also coincide with the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday, Sept. 29, in Miami. The Billboard Latin Music Awards will broadcast live on Telemundo, and will also broadcast simultaneously on the Spanish entertainment cable network, Universo, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

Chayanne to Speak During This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Week

Chayanne is ready to talk shop…

The 54-year-old Puerto Rican Latin pop singer and actor will take part in this year’s Billboard Latin Music Week, set to take place on September 26-30 at the Faena Forum in Miami.

ChayanneChayanne, one of Latin music’s most successful pop stars who has crooned to fans for nearly four decades with his ballads, will be releasing new music for the first time in more than six years, and speaking in his first interview in over five years.

But he isn’t the only new addition to the roster…

Ivy Queen, known as the Queen of Reggaeton, will open up about her prolific 25-year career, songwriting process, new music, and struggles as the only woman in a genre dominated by men.

Both Chayanne and Ivy join an already-announced star-studded lineup that includes Romeo Santos, Camilo, Nicky Jam, Eslabon Armado, Bizarrap, Blessd, Yahritza Y Su Esencia, Luis R. Conriquez, Ovy on the Drums, Kunno and The Rivera Family. More participants will be announced in the weeks leading up to the 2022 Latin Music Week.

Registration is now open at BillboardLatinMusicWeek.com.

Yahritza y Su Esencia Sign Worldwide Deal with SESAC Latina

Yahritza Martinez and her brothers are taking their music career to greater heights…

The 15-year-old Mexican singer and her siblings Jairo and Armando Martinez, best known by their group name Yahritza y Su Esencia, have signed a worldwide deal with SESAC Latina.

Yahritza Martinez, Yahritza y Su Esencia,The Martinez siblings have now joined a roster that includes chart-topping artists like Nicky Jam, Edén Muñoz, Christian Nodal, Erika Ender, Manuel Turizo, among others.

“We are very excited to welcome Yahritza y Su Esencia to the SESAC Latina family,” Celeste Zendejas, vice president, SESAC Latina, said in a statement. “Their debut single premiered at number one on the Hot Latin Songs Billboard chart, and they are growing into a cultural phenomenon in the Mexican genre. We are honored to be part of their continued success.”

To mark the beginning of their new deal with the performance-rights organization, Yahritza Y Su Esencia — who are signed to indie label Lumbre Music — took the stage to perform “Enamorado” and “Soy El Único” during the 2022 SESAC Latina Music ceremony on June 29.

Yahritza y Su EsenciaTheir partnership with SESAC Latina comes on the heels of the trio’s unprecedented success, which has catapulted them to the top of the Billboard charts.

Earlier this year, the self-taught musicians made history with the sad sierreño anthem “Soy El Unico” as the track scored a No. 20 entry on the Billboard Hot 100, making lead singer Yahritza the youngest Latin performer to enter the all-genre tally.

Additionally, “Soy El Único,” penned by Yahritza at age 13, debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated April 9.

“I don’t write my songs specifically for anyone. I just observe what’s going on around me and I get ideas from it,” she previously told Billboard.

In April, the group — which hails from Yakima, Wash. — dropped their five-track EP, Obsessed, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Albums chart. According to a press release, Yahritza Y Su Esencia is currently working on a full album, set to drop “later this year.”

Ivan Cornejo Scores First No. 1 on Regional Mexican Albums Chart with “Dañado”

Ivan Cornejo has a first No. 1…

The 18-year-old Mexican American singer has secured his first chart-topper on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums chart as his sophomore album, Dañado, debuts atop the chart dated June 18.

Ivan Cornejo,The set concurrently starts at No. 4 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

The seven-track set arrives just eight months after Cornejo scored his first entry with the No. 2 debut and peaking album Alma Vacía (6,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week in the U.S., according to Luminate).

Dañado bests its predecessor with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the latest tracking week ending June 9. As with most releases by Regional Mexican newcomers, streaming provides most of the album’s opening sum. That equates to 11.9 million on-demand official streams of the set’s tracks.

The Regional Mexican Albums chart ranks the most popular regional Mexican albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, comprising album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Cornejo gives Manzana Records its first No. 1 on any Billboard albums chart. Dañado is the Riverside, Calif.-born singer-songwriter’s second effort under Manzana, which was released June 2. Alma Vacía, his debut album, remained in the Regional Mexican Albums chart’s top 10 during its 35-week run.

Elsewhere, Dañado opens at No. 4 on the overall-Latin Top Latin Albums chart. It concurrently succeeds Alma Vacía, which reached No. 7 in October 2021. The set becomes just the fourth Regional Mexican album to debut in the ranking’s top 10 in 2022, behind Junior H’s Mi Vida En Un Cigarro 2 (No. 4, Feb. 26-dated tally), Yahritza y Su Esencia’s Obsessed (EP) (No. 7, May 7-dated ranking) and Eslabon Armado’s Nostalgia (No. 2, recap dated May 21).

Dañado grants Cornejo his second entry on the all-genre Billboard 200, starting at No. 149. It also bests Alma Vacía’s start (No. 156, Oct. 23). Cornejo becomes the fourth act to secure an entry there in 2022, trailing Junior H, Yahritza y Su Esencia and Eslabon Armado.

Dañado also becomes the eighth Spanish-language effort to debut on Billboard 200 this year. Here’s the scoreboard:

Debut/Peak Position, Title, Artist, Date
No. 39, Anniversary Trilogy, Bad Bunny, Jan. 15
No. 138, Mi Vida En Un Cigarro 2, Junior H, Feb. 26
