Trailer Released for Gina Rodriguez’s Animated Scooby-Doo Film “Scoob”

Well, jinkies! Gina Rodriguez is getting animated…

The trailer has been releases for next summer’s Scoob, featuring the 35-year-old Puerto Rican actress as the voice of Velma.

With the old Scooby-Doo’s characters’ looks updated but still recognizable as the ’70s cartoon classic versions, the trailer for director Tony Cervone’s feature version – a Scooby first – offers a look at the characters’ 21st Century looks (while also flashing back to that Shag-Scoob meeting).

The official plot summary of the Warner Bros. film: “Scoob!” reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc.Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global ‘dogpocalypse,’ the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

In addition to Rodriguez as Velma, the cast includes Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee; Zac Efron as Fred; Will Forte as Shaggy; Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly; Ken Jeong as Dynomutt; Tracy Morganas Captain Caveman; Amanda Seyfriedas Daphne; Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon; Iain Armitagevoices young Shaggy; and Frank Welkeras Scooby-Doo.

Warner Bros. will release Scoob on May 15, 2020.

It’s Rodriguez’s latest voice work… 

The Jane the Virgin star previously voiced characters in the animated films  SmallfootFerdinand and The Star, as well as voiced the iconic character of Carmen Sandiegoin the Netflixseriesof the same name.
