The vallenato-reggaeton track pays homage to the singers’ respective hometowns, which are located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

“Hey, Carlos take me on your bicycle, and if you ever show Piqué the Tayrona, he won’t want to return to Barcelona,” sings Shakira, alluding to her boyfriend, Barcelona soccer player Gerard Piqué.

The music video for “La Bicicleta” was shot in Vives’ native Santa Marta and Shakira’s Barranquilla. The two Latin superstars shared photos on social media while filming the clip.

“This is a song that represents us both very well. He is the king of vallenato,” said Shakira about the collab. “He is one of the most impressive artists that Colombia has given us. I’ve always admired him, the style of his compositions, his charisma, his commitment to our country, his incomparable artistic talent and I’m very honored to be invited to participate in this project.”
