The 18-year-old part-Puerto Rican country crooner and former American Idol champion claimed the Breakthrough Video of the Year award at last night’s CMT Music Awards in Nashville for his “The Trouble With Girls” music video.

“This award is so special to me ’cause I got to film this at my home high school, Garner Magnet High School [in North Carolina,” said McCreery. “I thank everybody who came out to support that.”

It’s the latest industry award for the rising star, whose debut album Clear As Day was certified platinum only three months after its release.

Last December, McCreery received the Artist of the Year: New Artist award at the American Country Awards. And, he picked up the New Artist of the Year prize at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. And, he’s currently nominated for two Teen Choice Awards.
