Lopez & Longoria: ALMA Hosts Again

Even though George Lopez and Eva Longoria are saying adios to their television shows (“Lopez Tonight” and “Desperate Housewives” respectively), the pair are still in good spirits. And, they’re even teaming up to help honor their peers.

Lopez and Longoria will serve as co-hosts of this year’s ALMA Awards, a show that recognizes the enriching contributions to American culture by Latinos in television, film and music.

During an interview with “Access Hollywood,” Longoria said she was excited about the show’s return to television after a yearlong hiatus.

“Especially with the ALMA Awards, they think they know what Latino means and what needs to be out there as a representation of us and George and I are perfect examples of being Mexican Americans,” she said.  “We’re American with Mexican heritage and so we don’t like to hit people over the head with a tortilla but at the same time, we like to celebrate our passion and our heritage.”

But Longoria is warning the person handling the “bleep” button to be prepared. Very, very prepared!

“I love hosting with George ’cause you never know what’s going to come out of his mouth, so we have the [bleep]–the censor button ready,” teased Longoria.

Presented by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) , the ALMA Awards will be broadcast by NBC on Friday, September 16 at 8/7 C.
