de la Renta Launching Children’s Line…

He may be 79-year-old, but Oscar de le Renta is proving it’s never too late to expand your oh-so-haute design empire to reach even the youngest of fashionistas…

The Dominican-born fashion design legend is preparing to launch a line of children’s luxury clothing.

De la Renta has hired Catherine Monteiro de Barros, who used to design the Portuguese children’s line Papo d’Anjo, as his new vice president of design for children’s wear, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

No word on what the clothes will cost, but a spokesperson for the company said the line will appeal to those “who are interested in quality and style, but who also want their children to look like children.”

De la Renta’s children’s line will be focused on boys and girls from 18 months to 14 years old.

A capsule collection should be ready for spring and will be sold at Harrod’s, Bergdorf Goodman and De la Renta’s boutiques, with a full collection released by fall.
