Karol G & Shakira’s “TQG” Among Former President Barack Obama’s Favorite Songs of the Year

Karol G and Shakira have earned a presidential recognition…

The 32-year-old Colombian singer and the 46-year-old Colombian superstar’s collaboration, “TQG,” has been named to former U.S. President Barack Obama’s annual list of his favorite songs of the year.

Shakira & Karol G

“TQG,” an acronym for the phrase te quedó grande, became Karol G and Shakira’s first number-one single on the Billboard Global 200. The track won the Best Urban Fusion Performance award this year’s Latin Grammys, among other honors.

But Karol G & Shakira’s Spanish-language single isn’t the only song by a Latinx artist to make the list.

Indigo De Souza’s “Younger & Dumber” has earned a callout,…

The 26-year-old Brazilian-American singer-songwriter’s single, the lead track from her third album All of This Will End, is described as ‘a love letter to everyone’s inner child.’

Ale Araya’s collaboration with Joseph Chilliams, “Midnight Gospel,” has made Obama’s list.

The LA-based Chilean singer, songwriter and producer’s single is part of her in visions project, which was released via Rostrum Records.

Obama’s final selection by Latinx artists is “La Bebe (Remix)” by Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma.

Anchored by laid-back vocal melodies and an insatiable, undulating beat, the result sees the two Mexican acts showcase their cool, insouciant flow on the chart-topping single.

“Here are some of my favorite songs from this year,” Obama captioned his post, asking his followers to “let me know if there are any artists or songs I should check out.”
