It’s a special first for Carin León…
The 32-year-old Mexican artist’s collaboration with Grupo Firme, “El Tóxico,” has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated September 11.
It’s Leon’s first leader on any Billboard airplay chart. León had previously secured a first top 10 with chart entry in 2019 with “Me La Aventé” (No. 6 peak).
Grupo Firme adds its second top 10 on the chart.
“El Tóxico” leads with a 7% increase in audience impressions, to 5.3 million, in the week ending September 5, according to MRC Data., clocks a first No. 1.
Grupo Firme previously led Regional Mexican Airplay through its featured role in Lenin Ramirez’s “Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo” (June 2020). In between, the Eduin Cazares-fronted band from Tijuana, Baja California, reached a No. 4 high with “No Estoy Perdiendo Nada,” with Enigma Norteño (October 2020).
“El Tóxico” concurrently picks up on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart with a 16-13 jump (previously a No. 7 peak).
