The 26-year-old Latina actress has landed a recurring role on What/If, Netflix’s social thriller anthology drama series.

Starring Renée Zellweger, Jane Levyand Blake Jenner, the series hails from Revengeand Swingtowncreator Mike Kelley.

The first season focuses on a mysterious woman’s lucrative but dubious offer to a cash-strapped pair of San Francisco newlyweds.

Juan Castano has landed a thriller role…

The Latino actor has joined the cast of What/If, Netflix’s social thriller anthology drama series starring Renée Zellweger, Jane Levy and Blake Jenner.

From Revengeand Swingtowncreator Mike Kelley, the series is written by Kelley, directed by Phillip Noyceand produced by Page Fright, Atlas Entertainment and Compari Entertainment in association with Warner Bros Television.

What/Ifexplores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.

Castano, who recently closed his stand-out performance as Cristofer in MCC’s production of Transfers by Lucy Thurber off-Broadway, will portray Marcos.

He previously had starring roles in New York theatre productions of A Parallelogram at 2nd Stage and the Public’s Oedipus El Rey as Oedipus. He was honored this season with the Drama Desk’s Sam Norkin Award given for off-Broadway excellence.

Blake Jenner has landed a new gig…

The 26-year-old Cuban American actor and Glee star has been cast as the male lead in What/If, Netflix’s social thriller anthology drama series starring Renée Zellweger and Jane Levy.

From Revenge and Swingtown creator Mike Kelley, the series is written by Kelley, directed by Phillip Noyce and produced by Page Fright, Atlas Entertainment and Compari Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television.

What/If explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.

The 10-episode first season focuses on two struggling newlyweds, scientist-entrepreneur Lisa (Levy) and EMT Sean (Jenner), who accept a powerful woman’s (Zellweger) ethically perilous proposition to secure a badly needed financial windfall. All actors have one-year deals.

Jenner first gained acclaim on the second season of The Glee Project, which he won, landing him the role of Ryder Lynn onGlee. He also recurred on Supergirl. Jenner most recently starred in the indie heist film American Animals. His feature credits also include The Edge of Seventeen andEverybody Wants Some!!

This weekend, Jenner finished out a run as Chrisitian to Peter Dinklage’s Cyrano in Goodspeed Musicals’ Cyrano, a new take on the Edmond Rostand classic Cyrano de Bergerac adapted by Erica Schmidt in collaboration with members of indie alternative band The National.

Syfy Renews Acevedo’s “12 Monkeys” for Fourth Season

Syfy has renewed its series 12 Monkeys, starring the 45-year-old Puerto Rican actor, for a 10-episode fourth season likely in 2018, which will be its last.

“With its time-twisting themes and edge-of-your-seat storyline, 12 Monkeys is the perfect show to air this way,” said Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “It’s grown into a world well beyond the original film, and after seeing the creative strength of Season 3, we couldn’t wait to pick it up for a fourth season.”

Based on the 1995 feature film, 12 Monkeys follows the journey of Cole (Aaron Stanford), who is sent back in time from a dark, hellish future to prevent it from ever happening. Joining forces in the present with Dr. Railly (Amanda Schull), Cole must defeat a centuries-old malevolent organization known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys. As Cole, Railly and their unlikely allies get closer to the truth, they’ll learn there are deadly consequences for all of history — and time itself.

In addition to Acevedo, who portrays Jose Ramse, Stanford and Schull, the cast also includes Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa and Todd Stashwick.

Season 3 of 12 Monkeys will bow on May 19, with the first four episodes back-to-back starting at 8 PM. Then three episodes will air from 8-11 PM the next two nights.

12 Monkeys is produced by Universal Cable Productions in association with Atlas Entertainment.

Hernandez to Write Paramount Pictures’ “The Villas,” Inspired by Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite”

Dan Hernandez is livin’ the suite life…

Paramount Pictures has selected the Cuban American writer and Benji Samit to pen The Villas.

The project, produced by Atlas Entertainment, is loosely inspired by Neil Simon’s play and 1971 film Plaza Suite.

Similarly, the film centers on several relationship stories all taking place in a hotel. This time, though, the location is a group of neighboring high-roller villas in Las Vegas, similar to The Mansion at the MGM Grand.

Hernandez and Samit recently wrote and produced on the first season of Netflix’s One Day At A Time, and are currently writing on the ABC/Sony Television pilot Come Together.

The scribes started writing together as undergraduates at Brown University.

Syfy has ordered a 10-episode third season of its time-travel thriller series 12 Monkeys, starring the 44-year-old Puerto Rican actor.
