Michael Peña to Star in Submarine-Themed Action Film “Subversion”

Michael Peña is heading below sea level…

The 49-year-old Mexican American actor will star alongside Chris Hemsworth and Lily James in Subversion, the new submarine-themed action film from Amazon MGM Studios.

Michael PeñaThe film follows a once-promising naval commander (Hemsworth) who is blackmailed by a cartel-like organization into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters. Thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, with a Coast Guard officer (James) in hot pursuit, he must outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both inside and outside the submarine.

Details about Peña’s role are being kept under wraps.

Patrick Vollrath is directing the film from a script by Andrew Ferguson. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing, with executive producers Stephen Shafer and Greg Cohen for di Bonaventura Pictures.

Peña next will be seen opposite Sarah Snook in the series All Her Fault, an adaptation of the novel by Andrea Mara that premieres on Peacock later this year.

Known for roles in A Million Miles Away, End of Watch, American Hustle and The Martian, he’ll also soon be seen starring opposite Sam Rockwell in Gore Verbinski’s action-adventure flick Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.

Kartiah Vergara has new representation…

The Chilean-Australian actress has signed with The Rosenzweig Group for representation in all areas.

Kartiah VergaraVergara was recently cast in the upcoming Sarah Snook-led Peacock series All Her Fault, based on the Andrea Mara novel of the same name, alongside Daniel Monks and Duke McCloud.

In addition to Snook who stars, the cast also includes Dakota Fanning, Abby Elliot, Jake Lacy, Sophia Lillis, Jay Ellis, Thomas Cocquerel and Michael Peña.

Per the official logline: “Marissa Irvine (Snook) arrives at 14 Arthur Avenue, expecting to pick up her young son Milo (McCloud) from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn’t a mother she recognizes. She isn’t the nanny. She doesn’t have Milo. And so begins every parent’s worst nightmare.”

Vergara previously was seen in supporting roles in Ticket to Paradise, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, and in the 2019 family adventure live-action film Dora the Explorer: The Lost City of Gold.
