Psych, which stars the 37-year-old Mexican American and Dule Hill, is the network’s longest-running current series.

It was greenlighted in December for an eighth season, with the network requesting an additional two episodes last month.

“We’re excited to double down on the bet we made by adding Psych, a show that has consistently delivered a wide range of viewers since joining our lineup in 2011,” said Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO of ION Media Networks.

The USA Network is reportedly looking to expand the upcoming eighth season of Psych by five episodes, according to Deadline.com.

The website reports that the network has ordered five additional scripts from the veteran sleuth dramedy as a step toward a potential back episodic order.

USA originally picked up an eight-episode eighth season of Psych in December, ahead of the show’s seventh-season premiere in February.

Despite a long hiatus, Psych returned to strong ratings, drawing 2.9 million in its premiere, up double digits in viewers and all key demos versus its Season 6 launch.

The series about a faux psychic (Roday) and his best friend (Dule Hill) who work for the Santa Barbara Police Department also continues to be a huge draw on social media.
