Octavio Pisano Returning to NBC’s “Law & Order SVU” for Season 27 Premiere Episode

Octavio Pisano isn’t leave the force just year.

The 39-year-old Mexican American actor will return for the season opening episode of NBC’s Law & Order SVU.

Octavio Pisano, In May, it was revealed that Pisano and Juliana Aidén Martinez would not be returning to SVU as series regulars in the 27th season.

Martinez joined the cast last season as Detective Kate Silva, while Pisano was added in Season 23 as undercover detective Joe Velasco.

It was unclear whether the decision was made for creative or financial reasons — or both. There was a pattern of budget reductions across multiple NBC shows, impacting cast, episodes and other areas ahead of NBC’s upfronts in May.

NBC has yet to reveal its fall premiere dates.

Pisano’s previous credits include Coyote and the indie film Ms. Purple.

Earlier this month, Deadline broke the news that Martinez closed a deal to join CBS’ FBI for its upcoming eighth season. It hails from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. No details about Martinez’s character have been provided.

With FBI‘s Stuart Scola (John Boyd) still looking for a permanent partner after the departure last fall of Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Kane), Martinez could play a new agent paired with him.

Lisette Olivera was initially cast as a series regular last season to succeed Kane but left after a handful of episodes as Scola’s new partner Syd Ortiz.

Emily Alabi was subsequently added as a recurring, playing Dani Rhodes, a temporary partner for Scola. Alabi will return in the fall to wrap Dani’s story, sources tell Deadline.

In addition to Boyd, Martinez joins returning FBI series regulars Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza.

Martinez previously starred on Law & Order: SVU as a series regular.

Both Law & Order: SVU and FBI hail from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television

Other actors who have moved from one Wolf Entertainment show to another as new characters include Dylan McDermott (Law & Order: Organized Crime to FBI: Most Wanted), Jesse Lee Soffer (Chicago P.D. to FBI: International) and, most recently, Brandon Larracuente (On Call to Chicago Fire).

Known for her breakout role in Netflix’s limited series Griselda opposite Sofia Vergara, Martinez played Detective Kate Silva on Season 26 of SVU.

Martinez also starred in the 2022 indie thriller Boundary and guest starred on 9-1-1, The Blacklist and Prodigal Son.

The Colombian American actress has joined the cast of NBC‘s Law & Order: SVU  as a new detective.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit follows detectives from the Special Victims Unit as they investigate and prosecute sexually based crimes. Some episodes are loosely based on real crimes that have been ripped from the headlines.

The fight for justice never ends as Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her squad provide a tireless voice for the voiceless. Benson’s compassion for victims and pledge to protect the innocent stand as a beacon of hope for all.

Law & Order: SVU also stars Ice T, Peter Scanavino and Octacio Pisano, among others.

Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer of Law & Order: SVU.

The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Wolf Entertainment.

Martinez is best known for her breakout role in Netflix’s Emmy-nominated Griselda, opposite Sofia Vergara.

She previously starred in the independent 2022 thriller Boundary, directed by Anthony Faust.

Her other credits include 9-1-1, The Blacklist and Prodigal Son.

During her time at the Yale Drama School, Martinez was selected for Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab.

The Colombian actress has joined the cast of Netflix’s Griselda, its upcoming limited series about real-life drug queenpin Griselda Blanco starring Sofia Vergara.

Aidén Martinez is among 12 newly added cast members, including Alberto Guerra, Diego Trujillo, Paulina Davila, Gabriel Sloyer, Maximiliano Hernández and Julieth Restrepo.

Netflix also released a first look photo of Vergara as the lead character.

The six-episode series chronicles the life of Colombian-born Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. A devoted mother, Blanco’s lethal blend of charm and unsuspecting savagery helped her expertly navigate between family and business leading her to become widely known as the “Black Widow.”

Blanco burst onto the pop culture scene after her exploits were highlighted in the 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys and its sequel two years later from Billy Corben.

She was portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Lifetime biopic Cocaine Godmother in 2018.

The series was developed by executive producers Vergara and Luis Balaguer for Latin World EntertainmentGriselda is the latest project for Eric Newman under his overall deal with Netflix.

Ingrid Escajeda will serve as co-showrunner, as well as write, and executive produce alongside Doug Miro (Narcos). Newman will also EP alongside his Narcos creative team, Andrés Baiz, and Carlo Bernard—though Griselda is unrelated to Netflix’s drug thriller franchise.

Baiz will direct all six episodes.
