There’s no doubt Gomez has succeeded  in building some serious buzz and excitement for the club-thumper that Gomez says is about living in the moment.

“Basically this song is just encouraging people to let loose, have fun, and be young and crazy,” says the former Wizards of Waverly star.

Shot in California, the oh-so-happy video features a vivacious Gomez with her bandmates and a slew of extras in various scenes, including a corn field, a discofied wooded-area and a baseball field.

Dressed in a sparkly purple-sequined shorts-jumper and knee-high lack boots, Gomez performed the party-thumper live at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards—where she also served as the show host.

“Hit the Lights” will premiere on VEVO on Wednesday, November 16.

Mars Brings Home MTV EMA Hardware

Lady Gaga may have dominated the MTV Europe Music Awards, but that didn’t prevent Bruno Mars from stealing some of the spotlight.

The 26-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer/songwriter picked up some hardware of his own during Sunday night’s show at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena. Mars took home awards in the Best Push and Best New categories.

“I’ve never been in this position,” said the doo-wop singer. “I don’t know what do. Kids follow your dreams.”

In addition, Mars serenaded the crowd with his song, “Marry You”

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez served as the night’s hostess with the mostess—the show’s youngest host ever.

She was also the first host to combine online and social media elements of the show in addition to the TV performance.

Along with her hosting duties, the 19-year-old Mexican American singer/actress performed also her single “Hit the Lights” with her band, the Scene.
