La La Anthony to Star on Season 2 of Hulu’s Drama Series “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican television personality, New York Times best-selling author, businesswoman, producer and actress has joined the second season of the Hulu drama Wu-Tang: An American Saga in a recurring role.

, from Wu-Tang Clan frontman The RZA, writer Alex Tse, Imagine Television and 20th Television, tells the story of the band starting in early 1990s.

It looks at the group’s members, who grew up during the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, and tracks the Clan’s formation — a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young black men who are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.

Season 2 picks up six months after the close of Season 1, with the Wu-Tang Clan having to overcome even more obstacles, odds and past beefs as they come together to create the iconic album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Along the way, introducing more members of the Wu Clan.

Anthony will play Tracey Waples, a young, vibrant Executive at Def Jam. She’s on the pulse of good music and boldly speaks her mind. After seeing Wu-Tang live she’s completely invested, but her plan for the group might not align with their own.

The Wu-Tang Clan has released five gold and platinum albums, selling 40 million albums worldwide. The group is often hailed as one of the most influential groups in the history of hip-hop with a unique sound and distinct image.

Season 2 will premiere this fall. A specific date TBD.

Esai Morales to Star in Sony Pictures’ “Superfly” Remake

Esai Morales’ career is soaring to new heights…

The 55-year-old Puerto Rican actor will star in the Director X-helmed Superfly remake from Sony Pictures, which will debut in theaters June 15.

Morales will portray play Adalberto.

The Alex Tse-penned script is based on the 1972 original blaxploitation crime drama, which followed an African American cocaine dealer who tries to secure one more deal before getting out of the business.

Morales joins a cast that includes Trevor Jackson, Jason MitchellLex Scott Davis, Andrea Londo, Jacob Ming-Trent, Omar Chapparo, and Allen Maldonado.

Joel Silver is producing the film with rap star Future, who is also putting together the film’s soundtrack.

Morales, who currently stars on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder, rose to acclaim in the Richie Valens biopic La Bamba. He’s also appeared in PBSAmerican Family, Showtime’s Resurrection Blvd., NYPD Blue and Caprica.

Allen Maldonado to Star in Sony’s “Superfly” Remake

The 34-year-old part-Puerto Rican actor will star as Litty in Sony’s Superfly remake, which has Director X at the helm.

Alex Tse will pen the screenplay based on the original Gordon Parks Jr.-directed blaxploitation crime drama, which follows an African American cocaine dealer who tries to secure one more deal before getting out of the business.

Lex Scott Davis, Andrea Londo, Jacob Ming-Trent, and Omar Chapparo will co-star.

The film is slated to open in theaters on June 15.

Maldonado, who recurs on ABC’s Black-ish, co-stars opposite Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish on TBSJordan Peele-created comedy series, The Last O.G, which premieres in April.
