Xolo Maridueña to Star in the Eif Rivera-Directed Film “Killing Castro”

Xolo Maridueña is killin’ it in Hollywood 

The 22-year-old Mexican, Cuban and Ecuadorian American actor and Blue Beetle star will star in the film Killing Castro.

Xolo MaridueñaEif Rivera will direct the film from a script by Leon Hendrix, Thomas DeGrezia and Colin Bateman. This will be Rivera’s first feature film.

In addition to Maridueña, who rose to acclaim in Cobra Kai, will star alongside

Al Pacino, Mexican superstar Diego Boneta, KiKi Layne, Alexander Ludwig, Ron Livingston, Kendrick Sampson, Nicole Beharie, Logan Marshall Green and Titus Welliver in the film.

Based on true events, the film is set in 1960. Shortly after winning the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro travels to New York City to deliver his first speech to the United Nations. When met with hostility at his original hotel, Castro meets Malcolm X who invites him to stay at famed Hotel Theresa in Harlem. With the eyes of the world watching, a rookie undercover FBI agent originally assigned to investigate Malcolm X suddenly becomes the FBI’s most valuable asset, and is tasked with keeping Castro from being eliminated by the CIA and the Italian mafia, by any means necessary.

Killing Castro will be produced by Romulus Entertainment’s Brad Feinstein, along with Christina Weiss Lurie of Fourth and Twenty-Eight Films. Romulus will also finance. Principal photography will take place in Newark, NJ.

Rivera is known for directing BMF, and TV shows including Force and Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Starz Releases Season 2 Trailer for Allen Maldonado’s Wrestling Drama “Heels”

Starz has released the official Season 2 trailer for its wrestling drama Heels, starring the 40-year-old Afro-Puerto Rican actor and filmmaker.

Allen MaldonadoThe series will return on Friday, July 28 at midnight (ET) on the Starz app. It will also debut on the Starz channel at 10:00 pm ET/PT in the United States and Canada on Friday, July 28.

The second season brings fans back to the family-owned wrestling organization, Duffy Wrestling League (DWL), where brothers and rivals, Jack (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig), continue to fight over their late father’s legacy and their individual versions of success, while also working to find their own identity as a “face” or a “heel.”

Maldonado portrays Rooster Robbins on the series.

This season also stars Alison Luff as Staci Spade, Mary McCormack as Willie Day, Kelli Berglund as Crystal Tyler, Chris Bauer as Wild Bill Hancock, Trey Tucker as Bobby Pin, Robby Ramos as Diego Cottonmouth, Alice Barrett Mitchell as Carol Spade, and Roxton Garcia as Thomas Spade, David James Elliot as Tom Spade, Joel Murray as Eddie Earl. CM Punk as Ricky Rabies, AJ Mendez as Elle Dorado, Josh Segarra as Brooks Rizzo and Emmy Raver-Lampman as Jen Lussier.

Season two begins after a spectacular showing at the South Georgia State Fair, and the Duffy Wrestling League’s popularity is suddenly on the upswing. Hoping to seize the opportunity, Jack and his cohorts prepare for a possible business deal with a new streaming service that may propel them onto a national stage. But the past threatens to upset everything when Ace leaves Duffy and the Dome.

Heels is produced through Mike O’Malley Ink and LBI Entertainment in association with Lionsgate Television for Starz.

Robby Ramos to Appear on Starz’s Wrestling Drama Series “Heels”

The Latino actor has landed a recurring role opposite Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig and Mary McCormack in HeelsStarz’s eight-episode hour-long drama set in the outrageous world of independent professional wrestling.

Written by Michael Waldron, with Mike O’Malley as showrunner, Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade (Amell) and Ace Spade (Ludwig), war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy (Ludwig) and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

Ramos will portray Diego, a wrestler at the DWL. In the ring, Diego wrestles as a Heel, but in the locker room, he’s a wisecracking and always encouraging colleague and friend.

Heels is produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Paramount Television Studios.

Ramos most recently appeared in Snowfall, Orange Is the New Black and The Blacklist.

Paola Nuñez to Star in Sony Pictures’ “Bad Boys for Life”

The 40-year-old Mexican actress will star in Sony PicturesBad Boys for Lifestarring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

The new installment centers on the Miami PDand its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature.

Nuñez will take on the role of Rite, the tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike’s former girlfriend- and the one who got away.

Adil El Arbiand Bilall Fallahare directing the film, which will bow in theaters on January 17, 2020.

It was previously announced that Alexander LudwigVanessa Hudgens, and Charles Melton have also joined the film in supporting roles as members of a modern, highly specialized police unit.

Peter CraigJoe Carnahan, and Chris Bremmercrafted the script. Jerry Bruckheimerwill produce the film.

Production is to commence next month.

Nuñez, who is widely known for her performances across Latin American television, features and theatrical platforms, recently starred opposite Pierce Brosnanon the first season AMC western series, The Son, which will return for a second season in 2019.
