Screen Gems Picks Up Rights to Bella Thorne’s “Keep Watching”

Here’s your chance to keep watching Bella Thorne

Screen Gems has picked up rights for the U.S. and much of the world to Keep Watching, the thriller from Voltage Pictures starring the 18-year-old half-Cuban American actress/singer.

Formerly known as Home Invasion, the film centers on a family imprisoned by intruders who play a life-and-death game in which the mysterious rules become clear as the night unfolds.

Thorne stars as a disillusioned teenager intensely guarding a personal secret.

The cast also includes Ioan GruffuddChandler Riggs, Natalie Martinez, Matthew Willig and Leigh Whannell.

No word on when the film will hit theaters.

Voltage Pictures financed Keep Watching, from rookie feature director Sean Carter and first-time screenwriter Joseph Dembner, who wrote it on spec after hatching the concept with Alex Heineman.

Thorne to Star in “Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip”

The 17-year-old half-Cuban American actress-singer has been cast in 20th Century Fox’s sequel Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip.

In the film, a series of misunderstandings has led mischievous chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York and dump them. Thorne will satr as Ashley in the film.

Thorne, who recently landed a starring role in ABC Family’s drama project Famous In Love, rose to acclaim as the star of the Disney Channel series Shake It Up!

Her recent credits include The DUFF, Big Love and My Own Worst Enemy.

She next appears in the features Home Invasion, Big Sky and Amityville: The Awakening.

Directed by Walt Becker, the fourth film in the animated/live-action franchise is set for release December 23.

The 16-year-old half-Cuban American actress and former Shake It Up star has signed on to star opposite Kyra Sedgwick in the thriller Big Sky.

The film is the English language debut of Jorge Michel Grau, who directed the original Spanish language thriller We Are What We Are.

Thorne will portray Hazel while the former The Closer star will play her protective mother Dee.

On their way to a desert facility to help Hazel deal with her paralyzing agoraphobia, the two find themselves attacked by gunmen and the teen has to fight her own demons for the mother-daughter duo to survive.

Production on the film, from an original screenplay by Evan M. Wiener, starts this week in Albuquerque.

It’s the latest project for the Disney Channel star, who is taking on more mature material.

Earlier this year, Thorne joined the cast of Home Invasion and starred in the Adam SandlerDrew Barrymore comedy The Familymoon (previously called Blended).

She is next set for Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

The 29-year-old Cuban American actress, one of the stars of CBS’ recently renewed Under the Dome, has been cast as a lead in the thriller Home Invasion

Directed by Sean Carter, the thriller focuses on a family imprisoned in their own home by intruders who play a life-and-death game in which the mysterious rules become clear as the night unfolds.

Martinez will join Bella Thorne, portraying the Disney starlet’s strong-willed stepmother, who is determined to keep her new family intact as the night’s horrific events unfold.

Home Invasion is gearing up for production later this fall.

This is the latest high-profile casting for Martinez…

She recently nabbed the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in Selfless, and she booked a role in Warner Bros.’s Run All Nightstarring Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman.

Gomez to Receive Two Young Hollywood Awards

The 21-year-old singer/actress, who could log her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 charts this week, will receive two awards at this year’s Young Hollywood Awards.

These are Gomez’s first-ever Young Hollywood Awards.

But Gomez isn’t the only Latina star who’ll pick up a prize this year…

Bella Thorne is also set to pick up an award at this year’s event.

The 15-year-old half-Cuban American actress, who will be starring in the film Home Invasion, will receive the one to watch award.

The Young Hollywood Awards will be televised for the first time on the CW on August 1.

Thorne’s Disney Channel Series “Shake It Up” Drawing to an End

Bella Thorne’s star-making days at the Disney Channel are coming to an end.

The network has announced that its original series Shake It Up, which stars the 15-year-old half-Cuban American actress, will wrap up its run after 78 episodes. The final round of shows will air this summer.

The move to wrap production on Shake It Up while it remains strong – it’s the No. 1 TV series year-to-date in the kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 demos – is not uncommon of the network, which tends to cap its original series after a set time.

In June, the Disney Channel said it was ending Good Luck Charlie after four seasons, 100 episodes and a hit TV movie.

But Thorne won’t be out of work…

She has a recording deal with Disney’s Hollywood Records, a three-book deal with Random House, and was just cast in the indie thriller Home Invasion.

Additionally Thorne recently completed shooting on the Adam SandlerDrew Barrymore film Blended.

Thorne, who will be penning a series of Young Adult books, will portray Jamie, a disillusioned teenager intensely guarding a personal secret.

Home Invasion was written by first-time scribe Joseph Dembner.

It’s the latest film role for Thorne, whose Shake It Up is in its third season on the Disney Channel. She recently wrapped a role in the Adam SandlerDrew Barrymore comedy Blended.

Thorne is nominated for an Imagen Award in the Best Young Actress, Television category. She’s also signed to Disney’s Hollywood Records.
