Humberly Gonzalez to Star Opposite Michelle Yeoh in Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Section 31”

Humberly Gonzalez is ready for a special trek

The Venezuelan actress has been cast in Paramount+’s upcoming original Star Trek: Section 31, which stars Michelle Yeoh.

Humberly GonzaleGonzalez, who has appeared on Ginny & Georgia, is among a roster of new cast additions that includes Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rahl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky and James Hiroyuki Liao.

Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she first played in Star Trek: Discovery‘s first season, who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

“And we’re off to the races! Thrilled to report principal photography has started on Star Trek: Section 31,” said executive producer Alex Kurtzman. “We welcome our incredible cast of new characters as they join our beloved Michelle Yeoh on her next wild adventure across the ‘Trek’ universe.”

Star Trek: Section 31 will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and in all international markets where the service is available. The film is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Humberly González to Star in Screen Gems & Alloy Entertainment’s Thriller “Horrorscope”

The 25-year-old Venezuelan actress will star in Screen Gems and Alloy Entertainment’s film Horrorscope, based on Alloy’s same-name novel, written by Nicholas Adams.

Humberly GonzálezGonzalez will appear opposite leads Jacob BatalonAlana Boden, Adain Bradley and Avantika. Wolfgang Novogratz will also star in the project.

Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen wrote the script and will make their feature film directorial debut.

Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton are producing through Alloy, along with Scott Glassgold of Ground Control. Cohen and Halberg are also on board to executive produce.

The story follows a group of college friends who, after getting their horoscopes read, begin dying in ways connected to their fortunes. Are their fates fatal or can they change what’s written in the stars?

The film is set for a fall start and is being overseen by Scott Strauss, Michael Bitar and Lariah Perara at Screen Gems.

González recently wrapped shooting Season 2 of the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia reprising her breakout role as Sophie. She will next be seen opposite Jason Momoa in the Netflix feature Slumberland. She also recently starred in the Universal feature Nobody and the Netflix series Jupiter’s Legacy.

Eddie Cibrian to Star Opposite Toni Braxton in Lifetime’s “Fallen Angels Murder Club”

Lifetime has rounded out cast for both installments of Toni Braxton’s Fallen Angels Murder Club (working title, fka Fallen Angels Book Club), with the 48-year-old Cuban American actor among those set to star.

Cibrian (Northern Lights, CSI Miami) has joined the first installment of Braxton’s Fallen Angelswhile Kelly Hu joins the cast of the second film. Both films are based on the Hollis Morgan mystery book series by author R. Franklin James.

Cibrian stars as Avery Mitchell, Hollis Morgan’s (Braxton) charismatic boss, while Hu will make her debut in the second installment as the mysterious Joelle.

Both productions have started filming and will premiere in 2022.

In the first installment of Fallen Angels Murder Club (wt), members of the Club must have two things in common – a love for books and have a criminal record. Hollis Morgan (Braxton) meets both requirements. Left holding the bag in an insurance fraud scheme concocted by her ex-husband, Hollis served her time and now hopes the court will pardon her conviction so she can return to law school and fulfill her dream of becoming a lawyer. But when a member of her book club is murdered in a scene straight out of the previous night’s novel, Hollis once again becomes the subject of police scrutiny. Refusing to get stuck with another bad rap, Hollis sets out to investigate her fellow club members and after a second book-inspired murder, she races to identify the killer before she becomes the next victim.

The Fallen Angels Murder Club films fall in line with Lifetime’s Broader Focus initiative, which supports the hiring of women in key production roles. The movies are produced for Lifetime by Brain Power Studio and executive produced by Beth Stevenson, Nancy Yeaman, Braxton and Rhonda Baraka. The films are written and directed by Baraka.
