Raphael Logam Earns International Emmy Awards Nomination for His Work on Brazil’s “Impuros”

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled the nominations for this year’s International Emmy Awards, with the 34-year-old Brazilian actor earning a nod.

Logam is nominated in the Best Performance By An Actor category for his work the second season of The Walt Disney Company’s Impuros. It’s his second consecutive nod in the category for his work on the Brazilian series.

But Logam isn’t the only Latino/a nominee this year…

Andrea Beltrão has been nominated in the Best Performance By An Actress category.

The 57-year-old Brazilian actress earned the nod for her work in the Brazilian series Hebe: A Estrela do Brasil. 

The International Emmy Award winners will be announced at a ceremony produced from New York City on November 23. Further details will be announced in October.

Nero Receives First Nomination from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

Alexandre Nero is getting global recognition…

The 46-year-old Brazilian actor/singer has earned his first nomination from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Nero is nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in Globo TV’s A Regra do Jogo (Rules of the Game).

Nero compatriot Grazi Massafera received a nomination in the Best Actress category. She’s nominated for her performance in Globo TV’s Verdades Secretas (Hidden Truths).

In all, Brazil leads the pack with seven nominations, including two nods in the Telenovela category for Nero and Massafera’s critically acclaimed melodramas.

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences said that 40 nominees from 15 categories would be competing in the 10 categories, which honor programs outside of the U.S.

The ceremony will be presented by Alan Cumming on November 21 at the Hilton New York Hotel.

Montenegro Receives International Emmy Award Nomination

Sweet Mother! Fernanda Montenegro is back in the running for an International Emmy.

The 85-year-old Brazilian stage, television and film actress has received a nomination for an International Emmy Award from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Montenegro, who was the first and only Brazilian actress to receive an Academy Award nomination for her acclaimed performance in Central Station, earned a nod in the Best Performance by an Actress category for her performance in Globo TV’s Doce de Mãe, which translates to “Sweet Mother.”

Montenegro previously won the best actress prize at the 2013 International Emmy Awards for her performance in Doce de Mãe.

Meanwhile, Montenegro’s compatriot Emilio de Mello has earned a nod in the Best Performance by an Actor category.

The Brazilian actor earned the nod for his performance in HBO Latin America’s series Psi.

In all 40 nominees were announced in 10 categories spanning 10 countries: Angola, Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.

The Awards will be presented at the annual International Emmys Gala on November 23 at the Hilton New York Hotel.

Argentina’s “El Jardín de Clarilú” Earns International Emmy Kids Award

Forget Dora… It looks like the hottest children’s pre-school program is Argentina’s El Jardín de Clarilú.

The program, the first regional production from Disney Junior Latin America, has earned one of the top prizes at this weeken’s first-ever International Emmy Kids Awards.

In El jardín de Clarilú, starring Agustina Cabo, Thomas Lepera, Andres Espinel, Sophie Oliver and Leandro Zanardi, Clarilú and her loyal dog Pencil receive a mysterious letter that presents the premise of each episode. The letter, which has been written by an anonymous character, gives Clarilú two clues and she must discover who the letter is from.

International Emmy Kids Awards, sponsored by International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, is solely dedicated to recognizing excellence in children’s television programming produced and initially aired outside of the United States.

Banegas Earns International Emmy Award…

The 66-year-old Argentine actress won the Best Performance by an Actress award at the 40th International Emmy Awards from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

Banegas earned the award for her role as the mother a girl with Down Syndrome in the episode entitled “Sin Cobertura” of the Argentine series Televisión x la inclusión. Banegas’ character Paula is the mother of Fernanda, who is in urgent need of heart surgery. The health insurance company that covered the procedure has now merged with Argenlife, and the authorization for treatment has been denied. Paula fights to save her daughter’s life, aided only by her own perseverance.

Meanwhile, Darío Grandinetti picked up the Best Performance by an Actor award for his work in a different episode of the same series.

The 53-year-old Argentine actor won the International Emmy for his portray of a taxi driver to whom life has not been kind. He’s divorced and lives in a humble house. When he finds out that his new neighbors are from Peru, his hatred towards Peruvians triggers a war against the neighbors which doesn’t stop until they move out of their home.
