Luis Guzmán to Appear on Season 2 of Starz’s Crime Drama Series “Hightown”

Luis Guzmán is coming to (High)town…

The 64-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been cast for a season-long arc on the second season of Starz’s crime drama series Hightown, starring Monica Raymund, from Jerry Bruckheimer and Lionsgate Television.

Production is currently underway on the 10-episode second season of the series created by Rebecca Cutter, who will make her television directorial debut this season. Oscar–nominated filmmaker Rachel Morrison will return to direct two episodes. Raymund, Dawn Wilkinson, Radium Cheung and Eagle Egilsson are also tapped to direct this season.

Guzmán will play Jorge Cuevas, Frankie’s (Amaury Nolasco) cousin. A charming and hilarious yet dangerous sociopath. Also joining the recurring cast are Jona Xiao as Daisy, a stripper at Xavier’s. Bubbly and working class with a hard edge. She’s got swag and can handle herself. Charline St. Charles as Henriette, first generation Haitian-American, wife of Sgt. Saintille (Dohn Norwood) and Dominic L. Santana as Chuleta, Jorge (Guzman) & Frankie’s (Nolasco) muscle.

They join returning cast members Raymund, James Badge Dale, Riley Voelkel, Nolasco, Atkins Estimond and Dohn Norwood. Tonya Glanz also returns in a heavily recurring role as Leslie Babcock, Jackie’s (Raymund) partner in the Narcotics Unit.

“I’m so in love with this cast and the way they brought my vision to life in Season One,” said Cutter, who recently entered an overall deal with Lionsgate Television. “Now I feel inspired to create in a whole new way, through directing. I will be learning from some of the best in the business – Rachel Morrison and Monica Raymund — and I can’t wait to showcase Cape Cod in a new light as we focus on the off-season. We are thrilled to be back in production and bringing you the next chapter in this story.”

Paola Nuñez to Star in Sony Pictures’ “Bad Boys for Life”

It’s a really Badtime for Paola Nuñez…

The 40-year-old Mexican actress will star in Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys for Life, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

The new installment centers on the Miami PDand its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature.

Nuñez will take on the role of Rite, the tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike’s former girlfriend- and the one who got away.

Adil El Arbiand Bilall Fallahare directing the film, which will bow in theaters on January 17, 2020.

It was previously announced that Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens, and Charles Melton have also joined the film in supporting roles as members of a modern, highly specialized police unit.

Peter Craig, Joe Carnahan, and Chris Bremmercrafted the script. Jerry Bruckheimerwill produce the film.

Production is to commence next month.

Nuñez, who is widely known for her performances across Latin American television, features and theatrical platforms, recently starred opposite Pierce Brosnanon the first season AMC western series, The Son, which will return for a second season in 2019. 

Martinez to Star in TNT’s Drama Pilot “Home”

Benito Martinez is coming home…

The 44-year-old Latino actor has been cast in TNT’s drama pilot Home from writer Aron Eli Coleite and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.

Martinez joins a cast that includes Bethany Joy Lenz, Andrew Buchan, Bruce Greenwood, Nicole Muñoz and Roberta Colindrez. He joins previously announced cast members JoBeth Williams, Harris Dickinson and Sawyer Barth.

Home delves into the secrets lingering behind the façade of a seemingly idyllic suburban family. Rose Bell (Lenz) couldn’t be happier: An accomplished designer with a successful business, the newly pregnant Rose is thriving in a wonderful life with her husband, Joe (Buchan), a highly regarded prison psychologist, and enjoying being a stepmother to his two sons PK (Dickinson) and Nate (Barth). But her image of her perfect family is shattered when she discovers long-buried secrets that threaten to destroy the very foundation of her life.

Martinez is prison Warden Peter Ochoa, a former uniformed cop who doesn’t believe in rehabilitation and parole, which puts him in direct opposition to prison psychologist Joe, who is determined to prove that even the most sociopathic criminals are capable of redemption.

Muñoz plays Danica, a latch-key girl next door who instigates a love triangle when she falls for both her new neighbors, PK and Nate Bell.

Colindrez is Cassie, Rose’s best friend and business partner, a contractor who brings Rose’s design to life.

Home is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Horizon Television, with Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman serving as executive producers.

Arjona Signs with United Talent Agency (UTA)

Adria Arjona has a united front in Hollywood…

Considered one of Hollywood’s rising Latina talents, the Guatemalan-American actress—the daughter of singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona—has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA), one of the entertainment industry’s premier talent and literary agencies.

Arjona, who appeared on television’s Person of Interest, recently wrapped the Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer Untitled Miami Project for Warner Bros./TNT opposite Matt Barr and Óscar Jaenada.

She recently landed a recurring role in the second season of HBO’s True Detective.

Her other credits include Narcos and Unforgettable.

Jaenada Lands Series Regular Role on TNT’s Untitled Miami Project

It’s dealer or no deal for Óscar Jaenada…

The 39-year-old Spanish actor has landed a series regular role on TNT’s Untitled Miami Project.

From Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay and written by Masters Of Sex creator/executive producer Michelle Ashford, the serialized character drama is set in the wild and unpredictable world of the Florida drug trade in the 1970s.

Jaenada, who most recently starred in the Spanish-language biopic Cantinflas, will portray Jimeno “The Poodle” Padilla, a pot dealer-turned-cocaine trafficker.

But Jaenada isn’t the only Latin actor joining the cast.

Adria Arjona will portray Colombia-born Maria Zorilla. She’s in love with all things American and also is one of the most vicious drug traffickers to ever grace the Miami stage.

Kristen Hager and Kelsey Siepser will also star in the television series.

Hernandez Cast in CBS’ Trooper Pilot…

Hostel star Jay Hernandez could be heading back to television.

The 34-year-old Mexican American actor, who rose to fame when he starred opposite Kirsten Dunst in the romantic drama Crazy/Beautiful, has signed on to star opposite Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino in CBS’s drama pilot Trooper.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Trooper centers on KJ Flaxton (Sorvino), a common-sense mother-turned-New York state trooper.

Hernandez, who last appeared on television in ABC’s Six Degrees, will play KJ’s new partner, a former Miami homicide detective looking for a fresh start for his daughter and him following the death of his wife.
