Jimmy O. Yang and Regina Hall are also on board.

John Hamburg will write and direct the film, with Hamburg also producing through his Particular Pictures along with Hart and Bryan Smiley for HartBeat Productions. Hart first announced the casting on his social media.

The film follows a stay-at-home dad (Hart) who finds himself with some “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. He reconnects with his former best friend (Wahlberg) for a wild weekend that nearly upends his life.

Méndez recently executive produced and starred in the comedy Half Brothers, which was released theatrically on December 4, 2020. He will be seen next in season 3 of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico and in Los Enviados, the first series to be co-produced with Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter, Juan José Campanella, and his production company 100 Bares.

The project, written by John Hamburg and Matt Miller, centers on a happy couple, Joel (Roday) and Lindsay, who go to a therapist (Tracey Ullman) to help them decide if they should have a baby but quickly discover they have more to discuss.

Nogueira, who most recently starred on the short-lived The Michael J. Fox Show, will portray Abby, a lovable mess who is always changing herself to suit the personality of her latest male suitor.

The pilot episode of Good Session will be directed by Hamburg.

Nogueira’s other credits include television appearances on Baby Daddy and Blue Bloods.

Roday to Star in CBS’ Comedy Pilot “Good Session”

He may be closing the chapter on his long-running USA series Psych this month… But James Roday may not be out of work for long.

The 37-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to star as the male lead on the CBS comedy pilot Good Session.

James Roday

Written by John Hamburg and Matt Miller and directed by Hamburg, the project revolves around a happy couple, Joel (portrayed by Roday) and Lindsay, who go to a therapist to help them decide if they should have a baby but quickly discover they have more to discuss.

Roday’s Joel is a dedicated middle-school guidance counselor who thinks his marriage to Lindsay, a jet-setting executive, is a happy one — but when they disagree about whether the time is right to start a family, they begin the painful, funny, embarrassing and, ultimately, rewarding, road of couples counseling.

For the past eight seasons on Psych, Roday played faux psychic detective Shawn Spencer who, with the help of sidekick Gus (Dule Hill), solved police cases.

Roday was an early social media adopter and, along with Hill, helped make Psych one of the first television series to engage its fans digitally and make it a multi-platform phenomenon.

Roday recently wrote and directed the dark comedy feature Gravy.
